From Amy Poehler to Chris Pratt, the stars of “Parks and Rec” are publicly on board for a reunion. Yet, the doors to Pawnee’s city hall remain closed for now. Uncover the complex logistical and creative challenges that form the real reason a full reboot isn’t happening, despite the passion from the team.

This Parks and Rec character is Adam Scott’s pick to get a spinoff: ‘I’d like to see how that worked out’

Scott says he’d love to see if “there were any scandals” with this fan-favorite character, “or if he was able to keep his powder dry.”

Everyone else is doing it, so why can’t Parks and Recreation have a reboot?

While various members of the Parks cast and crew have expressed their interest in a reboot, revival, or some kind of return to the beloved fictional town of Pawnee, Ind., no formal plans have yet materialized. But the powers that be likely haven’t heard star Adam Scott’s bright idea.

Scott sits down with Entertainment Weekly Editorial Director Gerrad Hall on this week’s episode of EW’s Awardist podcast to discuss his freshly Emmy-nominated performance in the Apple TV+ thriller series Severance. Noting that The Office, the mockumentary series that informally spawned Parks, is getting its own spinoff called The Paper, Hall asks Scott, “Of the Parks and Rec characters, is there one specifically you would love to catch up with now, see where they’re working, find out what they’re doing?”

Scott responds without hesitation, and his pick might surprise loyal Parks fans.

“Probably Jerry [Jim O’Heir],” Scott replies. “I think because when we left the show, he was mayor, still, of Pawnee. I’d like to see how that worked out, if there were any scandals or if he was able to keep his powder dry and run the town in the way we know it should be run.”

Indeed, when Parks and Rec wrapped up its seventh and final season in 2015, viewers didn’t have to guess where all their favorite characters would end up. The series informed them — Six Feet Under style, but without all the doom and gloom — by flashing into the future and offering closure for each beloved alum of the Pawnee Parks Department.

O’Heir’s Garry Gergich, mean-spiritedly referred to as “Jerry” throughout most of the series, is Parks‘ perpetual underdog — overlooked, undervalued, and even mocked for his enduringly sunny outlook. Which is what makes the great fortune bestowed upon him by the Parks finale so sweet. The character is elected mayor of Pawnee in a write-in campaign coup, a position he happily holds until his 100th birthday.

“I don’t know how my life could get any better than this,” he tells Amy Poehler’s Leslie Knope in one of their final scenes together.

“I feel like Jerry would’ve done a terrific job,” Scott continues, and adds one more idea to boot.

“I think also Tom would be a good one to check in with, find out what’s going on with Tom, with [Aziz Ansari’s] character,” he says.

Similarly to Garry/Jerry, Ansari’s Tom Haverford finds a happy ending in the Parks finale, though one that doesn’t come without its hitches, meaning it could make for great spinoff fodder.

Aziz Ansari as Tom Haverford, Adam Scott as Ben Wyatt

On the finale episode “One Last Ride,” Tom continues to operate his “classy, authentic” restaurant, Tom’s Bistro, which has become the most successful chophouse in Pawnee. However, an economic recession throws open a money pit that pulls Tom’s Bistro. But with the help of new wife Lucy (Natalie Morales), Tom writes a bestselling book, which he naturally parlays into a lucrative motivational speaking gig.

Tom and Garry/Jerry are prime candidates for a Parks spinoff, and in 2022, one of the series’ most key players signaled her openness for more. Poehler, who also produced the series, said she was “always standing by” for a Parks reboot. “Anytime anybody gives me the word, and I’m down.”

Jeopardy! Season 42 is on the horizon, but a controversial decision is already splitting the fanbase. The legendary quiz show is set to introduce significant adjustments, with one change in particular causing an uproar online. This upcoming season promises to be one of the most talked-about in the show’s history

Jeopardy! plans big changes to shake up next season with new set pieces and ‘unpopular’ category decision

JEOPARDY! plans to make big changes to shake up next season with new set pieces – along with a very ‘unpopular’ category decision, the U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.

The famous trivia show is gearing up for season 42, and while some major shifts are in store for fans, the game will also be keeping some things the same – including a controversial part of the show.

In late July, season 41 of Jeopardy! concluded with a bang after Scott Riccardi had his 16-game winning streak crushed by Jonathan Hugendubler in a shocking finale.

The end of the season marks the rare occasion where new Jeopardy! episodes are on hiatus from airing.

While production of season 42 is set to begin next week, new episodes won’t air until the end of September.

In the meantime, the show is getting ready for its best season yet as the 200+ crew members are working hard on season 42’s pre-production.

A series insider told The U.S. Sun: “The show has some changes in the works to jazz up season 42.

“No one is jumping the shark, the format and all that, the heart of the show, will be the same.

“But there will be new set pieces and, unfortunately for the fans, there will be some, perhaps even an increase, in sponsored categories.

“Producers know that’s not popular with fans, and quite frankly, a lot of the production team doesn’t like it either.

“But it’s part of the game. It helps with revenue and cross promotion so it is what it is.”

In recent Jeopardy! seasons, sponsored categories have sporadically popped up within the game.

These sponsored categories are often videos of celebrities reading off the clue, instead of the typical process of host Ken Jennings saying them.

Oftentimes, the celebrity is promoting a new movie, and the category ties into the film to advertise it in some way.
Jeopardy! superchamp Scott Riccardi’s 16-day winning streak ends after shocking upset from newcomer on season 41 finale
However, many fans feel the sponsored content is “forced” and “takes away” from the strategic gameplay.

In addition to changes during the season, some off-season changes will be happening too.

The airing schedule is getting a shake-up to include the season 41 finale – which is not typically the case.

Jeopardy! usually uses its annual hiatus to re-air its various tournaments that were from the previous season.

However, in a rare move, the final episode that re-airs before season 42 airs will be the season 41 finale.

    Jeopardy! Set Secrets

Jeopardy! fans don’t see everything behind the scenes from watching on TV. These hidden set features make the show run smoothly:

Each podium has a hidden riser so that all contestants appear to be the same height.
After each clue is read, signal lights go off around the game board, indicating players can buzz in and respond.
Buzz in too early, and you’re locked out for .25 seconds.
The podiums have a small white light in the lower left corner, which tells Ken Jennings who goes next.
Contrary to popular belief, the player with control doesn’t have a buzzer advantage on the next clue.
To the game board’s left is a scoreboard so the players can see their opponents’ scores.
All contestants must bring three outfits to the studio, but only the host and returning champion change for the next episode.
There are wardrobe rules, including restrictions on busy patterns, solid white, purple (like the background), and logos.
Five episodes are taped in a single day, and sometimes more.
The categories, players (aside from the returning champion), and Final Jeopardy! for a tape day are all drawn randomly to ensure fairness.
Female contestants are asked not to wear makeup, which is applied backstage, and don’t wear mascara because of sweat.
Contestants fill out a questionnaire, and producers select five Q&A topics for the host.
Host Ken isn’t allowed to interact with the contestants until after the game.
Players can request to sit in a chair while competing without question.

Fans will remember the jaw-dropping episode where Scott finally lost his reign to Jonathan in a stunning upset during Final Jeopardy!

The shocker marked the end of Scott’s impressive 16-game run, which landed him in the Jeopardy! history books.

Being the champion of 16 games is the most consecutive games won by a contestant since 2022.

It also ties for 10th place in overall longest winning streaks ever in Jeopardy! history, alongside Ryan Long, who played in 2022.

That same year also saw Cris Pannullo win 21 games, Mattea Roach dominating 23 games, and Amy Schneider with an impressive 40-game winning streak – the second longest ever.

The player who holds the title for most consecutive games won is host and TV icon Ken, who went on an unbeatable 74-game streak back in 2004.

Wheel of Fortune fans threaten to boycott show over ‘disappointing’ change after Ryan Seacrest’s rocky start as host

WHEEL of Fortune has received more backlash after Ryan Seacrest’s shaky start this week.

Fans of the game show pointed out the set on an Instagram post and said they might boycott the show because of it.

On Tuesday, a video was posted to Wheel of Fortune’s official page.

It showed host Ryan, 49, giving a winner a trip to the iHeartRadio Music Awards, which he will also host.

As Ryan stood on set, a bright blue and yellow background was behind him, which is brand new this season.

Fans think that the set is too distracting and they can’t watch Wheel anymore because of it.

“Ryan is doing very well. However, the set is horribly distracting. It’s too hard to focus on the puzzle. I believe I’ve just watched my last WOF,” one Instagram user said.

    “Way too bright!” said another.

“I really dislike the new set,” added a third.

“Still love the show…but the set is absolutely horrible!!! It makes me not want to watch the show!” a social media user said.

“I can NOT with the set!!! Such a disappointment. I changed it to Game Show Network to watch reruns,” wrote another.

“The new set is awful,” commented a fan.

Wheel of Fortune behind-the-scenes secrets revealed as fans point out massive taping edit in Ryan Seacrest’s second show
“I love the new set, but the colors are a bit bright,” said a follower.

    HAVE TO SEA IT

This is not the first time fans have complained about the new set.

On the Season 42 premiere episode on September 9, Ryan and hostess Vanna White walked onto the stage, which included sliding doors center stage.

The screen showed all three contestants on their own panels as they solved puzzles.

    Wheel of Fortune must-know staff

Wheel of Fortune’s universe is more vast than fans realize. Here’s a look at the key staffmembers of America’s most iconic puzzle-based game show:

    Ryan Seacrest: host, 2024-present

    Vanna White: co-host, 1982-present

Maggie Sajak: social media correspondent, 2021-present

Steve Schwartz, supervising producer of over 30 years and now co-executive producer

Jimmy McGuire: Stage Manager and Jeopardy! Clue Crew alum (also Jeopardy!’s stage manager)

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! famously share a studio lot and use the others’ set next door for practice games before players take the stage.

Along with the bright walls, the shiny board is shiny and distracting.

Fans said they were “not impressed” and that it “hurt their eyes.”

Another new change to the set was that the letter board is digital and Vanna, 67, barely has to touch it.

    HE’S NOT PAT

Ryan took over for Pat Sajak this season after the long-time host retired after 41 seasons.

Fans had mixed reactions to Ryan’s debut and many said that “he’s not Pat.”

“Ryan Seacrest is boring,” one critic said.

However, others said that they were impressed that Ryan was hosting with notecards.

“I gotta say…I don’t understand the hate – Ryan Seacrest isn’t that bad as host,” said an X user.

Wheel of Fortune airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ABC.

White has been cohost of Wheel since 1982, but luckily her board is in good, manicured hands. While Maggie Sajak might be a novice as a host, she’s currently the show’s social correspondent, sharing behind-the-scenes footage of contestants online. She also made her debut on the show when she was just a baby in 1996.

For this episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, White will compete with other “Ultimate Hosts” Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings, who share hosting duties on Wheel‘s sister series Jeopardy.

In a clip from tonight’s episode, Sajak and White banter about how this is the first time he’s seen her from this particular angle.

“You’re over there usually, so I see you on my right,” Sajak says, gesturing to the iconic letter board. “And we’ve had this habit for 40 years. You stand on my right when we stand. I’ve never seen your left side. It’s as nice as your right side.”

Sajak then asked her if it feels strange seeing someone else at her puzzle board.

“It does, it does,” White says. “But Maggie, thank you so much for filling in for me. I know you’re gonna do a great job.”

Kelly Clarkson kept her children front of mind while navigating her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock‘s secret cancer battle, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.

“Even though they went through an acrimonious divorce, Kelly made a conscious decision to protect Brandon’s privacy until the very end for the sake of their family,” the source explains.

“He’d been sick for a while, but his health really took a turn for the worse earlier this year. That’s why she was MIA from her talk show,” the source continues, referencing Clarkson’s unexplained two-week absence from The Kelly Clarkson Show in late February and early March. “Out of respect, Kelly chose not to say anything publicly until it became clear this week that Brandon wasn’t going to make it.”

Us Weekly has reached out to Clarkson’s rep for comment.

Brandon Blackstock Kelly Clarkson relationship timeline

Blackstock died on Thursday, August 7, just hours after Clarkson, 43, revealed in a social media post that he had been sick. He was 48.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a rep for the Blackstock family said in a statement to Us. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

The night before, Clarkson announced she had to postpone the next four dates of her Las Vegas residency, Studio Sessions, due to Blackstock’s health issues, though she did not disclose what kind of illness he had.

“While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,” she wrote, referencing the former couple’s 11-year old daughter, River Rose, and 9-year-old son, Remington “Remy” Alexander.

A 'Screw You' From the Universe/ Everything Kelly Clarkson Has Said About Her Split From Brandon Blackstock

“I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows,” the American Idol alum continued, “and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.”

Clarkson and Blackstock married in October 2013. They welcomed River and Remy in June 2014 and April 2016, respectively. (The former talent manager also shared 23-year-old daughter Savannah and 18-year-old son Seth with his ex-wife Melissa Ashworth.)

After nearly seven years of marriage, Clarkson filed for divorce from Blackstock in June 2020. She was awarded primary physical custody of their kids that November while the exes continued to battle in court over other issues, including child and spousal support as well as ownership of their Montana ranch. They ultimately finalized their divorce in March 2022.

By that May, Clarkson swore off remarrying, saying on her talk show, “I will never get married again. Not because I don’t believe in love. I think love is beautiful. I just … that didn’t suit me.”

Drew Carey says he’s forgiven Gareth Pursehouse, the man who is charged with murdering the “The Price Is Right” host’s ex-fiancée Amie Harwick.

“After Amie’s murder, I took a week off. Really, I couldn’t function,” Carey, 61, said in a pre-recorded interview on Wednesday with the hosts of “The Talk,” which aired on Friday.

When he got back to the show a week later, he explained that they were filming episodes for “Kids Week,” which gave him an opportunity to talk to high school students about Harwick’s death.

“I talked to them about how I forgave the guy who murdered Amie,” he said. “I did it as soon as I could, right away because he was mentally ill, the guy was abused when he was a kid and, you know, you have to be able to forgive people like that. You know, I wish he never did it, or I wish he never met her. When you forgive people, that doesn’t mean you have to hang out with them and be their friend.”

Amie Harwick: What happened the night of famed marriage and sex therapist's death? | The Independent

He continued, “It’s important for high school kids to hear and people in general to hear. It would be so easy to carry around … every day think about revenge, which is not coming. There’s nothing that’ll make up for what he did … I really try to practice instant forgiveness and unconditional love, the closest you can get to that, the better you are and I fall short all the time.”

Harwick, a well-known Hollywood therapist, was strangled and thrown over the third-floor balcony of her Hollywood Hills apartment on Feb. 15.

Pursehouse, her ex-boyfriend, was arrested and charged with one count each of murder and first-degree residential burglary with the special circumstance allegation of lying in wait. He pleaded not guilty on Thursday and is set to return to court on June 24.

“She was beautiful and fun, and cared deeply about people and improving their lives and was just a joy to be around. And I was so in love with her,” Carey said on his SiriusXM show back in February. He added that Pursehouse, 41, had allegedly been stalking her for 10 years and she was “deathly afraid” of him.

The Drew Carey Show Cast: What They Look Like Now & Biggest Shows Sinc

The Drew Carey Show The Drew Carey Show cast

What does The Drew Carey Show cast look like now and which TV shows have they appeared in since? Co-created by its titular comedian, The Drew Carey Show is an ABC sitcom that ran for nine seasons between 1995 and 2004. The show chronicles the personal and professional misadventures of a fictionalized version of Drew Carey – who appeared in NCIS – who works as the assistant director of personnel in the office of a Cleveland, Ohio department store.

During its earlier seasons, The Drew Carey Show ranked as one of ABC’s most-watched sitcoms, but its popularity began to slide as the series progressed. A sharp decline in ratings during its later seasons – combined with increasing production costs – eventually forced the show’s cancellation. But that came after it racked up an impressive 233 episodes and earned a handful of Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

The actors who make up The Drew Carey Show cast are all fairly regular faces on TV. Here’s an update on what they look like now and which other TV shows they’ve appeared in since the classic ABC sitcom came to an end.

    Drew Carey – Drew Carey

Drew Carey in The Drew Carey Show and The Price Is Right

Alongside playing a fictionalized version of himself, Carey also co-created and co-produced the show and directed a handful of episodes too. While The Drew Carey Show was still in production, Carey started hosting the long-running improv series Whose Line Is It Anyway? but these days he’s best known as the host of game show The Price Is Right.

Diedrich Bader – Oswald Lee Harvey

Diedrich Bader in The Drew Carey Show and American Housewife

Bader’s role in The Drew Carey Show was as Drew’s dim-witted, unfortunately named friend Oswald Lee Harvey. Bader has since had recurring roles in Veep and Better Things and starred in fellow ABC sitcom American Housewife. Interestingly, American Housewife reunited Bader with several The Drew Carey Show cast members when Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles and Kathy Kinney guest-starred during a season 4 episode.

    Kathy Kinney – Mimi Bobeck

Kathy Kinney in The Drew Carey Show and American Housewife

The Drew Carey Show gave character actress Kathy Kinney one of her biggest roles when she started playing its protagonist’s flamboyant workplace nemesis, Mimi Bobeck. After the sitcom ended, Kinney enjoyed a three-episode stint as a police officer in My Name Is Earl but more recently she’s best known for playing butcher shop manager Bunny in The Secret Life Of The American Teenager.

    Ryan Stiles – Lewis Kiniski

Ryan Stiles in The Drew Carey Show and Whose Line Is It Anyway

Ryan Stiles’ character Lewis Kiniski was Drew’s clever but unambitious friend – the Brain to Oswald’s Pinky, in essence. Stiles is best known for being a main Whose Line Is It Anyway? cast member, but he also had a recurring role on Two And A Half Men as Dr. Herb Melnick and later guest-starred in an episode of hit The Big Bang Theory prequel spin-off Young Sheldon.

    Christa Miller – Kate O’Brien

Christa Miller in The Drew Carey Show and Cougar Town

Christa Miller played the part of Drew’s friend-turned-love interest Kate O’Brien before leaving The Drew Carey Show cast in the penultimate season. She’s known for her long-running recurring role as Jordan Sullivan on classic medical comedy Scrubs and her main role in Cougar Town as Ellie Torres. Miller recently had another recurring role in Head Of The Class as Principal Maris and is set to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ show Shrinking.

    Craig Ferguson – Nigel Wick

While Wayne Brady regularly delights many fans on television as a game show host, he initially started with improv comedy and portraying different characters.

He took his talents to Whose Line Is It Anyways? and Let’s Make a Deal, where he is known for keeping the show entertaining with co-stars and contestants.

Viewers saw Wayne appear in a reality television series, Wayne Brady: The Family Remix, where he co-starred with his daughter, ex-wife, and her current partner.

While that didn’t extend beyond one season of episodes, Wayne hasn’t slowed down when it comes to working.

Months ago, fans could watch him on stage as the titular character in a Broadway revival of The Wiz.

He’s now returning to Broadway, as recent news revealed another new role for Wayne away from television.

Wayne Brady joins the Moulin Rouge cast

On Wayne’s Instagram page, he shared several posts, one of which arrived from @broadwaycom’s Instagram page. It features Wayne’s smiling face beside actor Taye Diggs, who looks sharp in a black suit, white shirt, and black bowtie.

“Bonjour, Taye Diggs and Wayne Brady! The stars return to Broadway in MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL July 22nd for a limited engagement,” the post’s caption revealed.

According to the caption, Wayne portrays Harold Zidler for the long-running musical, while Diggs portrays The Count of Monroth.

Additional details from the Broadway website reveal that the limited engagement begins July 22, with Diggs appearing through September 28 and Wayne appearing in shows through November 9.

Wayne appeared in The Wiz for a limited time last year and has since returned to hosting Let’s Make a Deal. His other Broadway credits include Chicago and Kinky Boots, so Moulin Rouge will further add to his impressive resume.

He’s a five-time Emmy winner for various projects, including Whose Line Is It Anyway? and The Wayne Brady Show. In 2025, he and his Wiz castmates received a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theatre Album.

Moulin Rouge! adapted Baz Luhrmann’s film for the stage and won a Tony Award for Best Musical. The musical, directed by Alex Timbers, features over 160 years of music ranging from Offenbach to Lady Gaga.

The 2001 movie featured an ensemble cast led by Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor. The film received eight nominations at the 74th Academy Awards.

The musical will play at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City. Show dates and ticket details are available on the official website.

Based on the details of his appearances in the show, Wayne will have quite a schedule in the coming months. However, one of the hardest workers in show business seems to love staying busy and entertaining people, whether on stage or screen.

With Sheryl Underwood’s show, The Talk, ending soon, she and her co-hosts will have plenty of free time.

She and her co-hosts, Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila, recently discussed life after a show ends with their guest Drew Carey.

Drew previously said goodbye to his sitcom, The Drew Carey Show, after nine seasons.

However, he’s since moved on to hosting the popular CBS game show, The Price Is Right.

That gig has lasted for Drew since 2007, as he took over when the legendary Bob Barker retired.

In addition to playing pricing games with everyday contestants from the studio audience, The Price Is Right also has specials featuring celebrities.

Sheryl had a special request for The Price Is Right host

During Drew’s time on The Talk, he spoke about The Price Is Right’s upcoming Holiday Heroes special and mentioned it would feature first responders and contestants who served in the military.

Sheryl asked, “Would you do a celebrity version of The Price Is Right, where people could come on and play for charities?”

“We have,” Drew said and started to talk about that, but Sheryl cut him off.

“No, I mean, because we free,” she quickly said.

Drew lost it at that moment, laughing as he realized she meant due to them having more time once The Talk ended.

Monsters and Critics reported that The Talk is ending this month due to cancelation. It premiered in 2010 and claimed 11 Emmys during its multiple seasons.

Along with Sheryl, Akbar, and Jerry, the show’s hosts include Amanda Kloots and Natalie Morales.

As previously reported, a new soap opera will replace The Talk on CBS.

Drew commented on The Talk ending for hosts and fans

Drew is familiar with a show getting canceled, as that was the fate of his sitcom The Drew Carey Show after nine seasons. The Talk is ending after being on the air since 2010.

“It bummed me out totally, man, because you guys are the greatest. I love this show,” Drew told the hosts.

Akbar asked Drew what advice he had for them in their final days of the show airing. He explained that he heard a great message from a self-help tape during a drive home after the show’s cancellation.

“One day, I realized that my past didn’t matter, so just like drinking, I dropped it,” he told them.

He said he started introducing himself to everyone as Drew, and if they knew him, they did, and if they didn’t, it didn’t matter.

“I didn’t lead with my living,” he told them, mentioning it was “so freeing” not to be always attached to a job title or having it define you.

During part of the interview, Drew also spoke about traveling to Ecuador and Peru. He praised a restaurant he ate at in Lima, Peru, and recommended it to everyone. That also gave The Talk hosts another consideration for things to do once their show ends.

He told the hosts, “If you have some time on your hands, go down to Lima. Best meal I’ve ever had in my life.”

Viewers will see the final episode of The Talk air on Friday, December 20, 2024.
