Good News, Bad News for Reba McEntire ‘Happy’s Place’ Fans

The good news for fans of Reba McEntire’s NBC sitcom Happy’s Place is the show is returning for Season 2 in 2025.

The bad news is you’ll have to wait a bit longer than anticipated.

Happy’s Place debuted to more than four million viewers last October and kept an audience of three to three-and-a-half million people for the other 17 episodes.
NBC renewed the show last February.
This is McEntire’s third sitcom, although she also starred in the ABC drama Big Sky in 2022-23.

NBC revealed its fall schedule on Monday (July 28). Deadline was among the outlets that reported, but you have to scroll a ways to find McEntire’s show.

When Does Reba McEntire’s Happy’s Place Return?

NBC is holding off on Season 2 of its newest comedies until November. St. Denis Medical S2 will premiere on Nov. 3.

Season 2 of Happy’s Place will premiere on Nov. 7. That means the show is keeping its Friday night slot. Those who missed Season 1 may catch a break, as back-to-back episodes will air every Friday for the foreseeable future.

    What Is Happy’s Place About?

In Happy’s Place, McEntire plays Bobbie McAllister. She’s just inherited a bar owned by her father, “Happy.” Then she learns she has a half-sister named Isabella, with whom she has to share ownership.

Much of the humor stems from the pair’s age and cultural differences. Belissa Escobedo, Melissa Peterman and Rex Linn also star in the show.

    How Old Is Reba McEntire?

Reba McEntire turned 70 years old on March 28, 2025. She remains active musically and in addition to her sitcom, she’s hosted several country awards shows in recent years and appeared as a coach on The Voice (where she’ll return in September).

Country fans recall McEntire’s CW hit Reba from the early 2000s. Shortly after that, she was on a failed ABC sitcom called Malibu Country.

The “Happy’s Place” You Know is Changing! A Shocking Season 2 Announcement Reveals a Major Plot Twist That Will Leave Fans Stunned

‘Happy’s Place’ Gets an Exciting Season 2 Update — With a Twist

    HAPPY'S PLACE

After a successful debut season that featured eighteen comfy episodes, Happy’s Place was renewed for a second run as announced earlier this year. A return date was not included in the announcement at the time, but NBC has now provided one, set for this fall and with an exciting addition. Created by Kevin and Julie AbbottHappy’s Place premiered on October 18, 2024, providing viewers with 21 minutes of utter amusement every week. Season 1 concluded on March 21, 2025, but weeks before, in February, it was renewed for another exciting season.

As all networks unveil their fall schedule for scripted and unscripted programs, NBC has officially revealed that Happy’s Place Season 2 will launch on Friday, November 7 at 8/9c. That’s not all! The sitcom will return with a double-episode event, meaning viewers will get to enjoy even more time with Reba McEntire’s Bobbie McAllister and other beloved characters. In addition to the country singer, Happy’s Place stars Belissa EscobedoMelissa PetermanRex LinnPablo Castelblanco, and Tokala Black Elk, all of whom will be back for “another heartfelt, hilarious season.”

In Happy’s Place Season 1, Bobbie inherited her late father’s titular bar and was taken aback after learning she had a new co-owner, Isabella (Escobedo), who was the half-sister she never knew existed. Isabella is young, inexperienced, and has some unusual new ideas about how to run the family business, which the duo ultimately learn to co-own together. Also included in their close-knit business are the bartender Gabby (Peterman), the cook Emmett (Linn), the nicest waiter in Tennessee, Takoda (Elk), and their brilliant yet eccentric accountant Steve (Castelblanco).

Not Everyone Is a Fan of ‘Happy’s Place’

While Happy’s Place may have been worth watching to several viewers, critics had mixed opinions about the show upon its debut. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a 73% critics’ score based on eleven reviews, a few of which are not so glowing. USA Today’s Kelly Lawler described it as “just another low-rent sitcom with stale jokes, bland characters, and a limp plot.” Similarly, The Hollywood Reporter’s Daniel Fienberg saw the series as pretty “generic” and that “does not feel like a well-established Nashville institution.” Nevertheless, other critics were not so disapproving, including Screen Rant’s Sarah Little, who opined, “Many of the jokes land, while the emotional moments tug at the heartstrings. For those reasons alone, McEntire’s new NBC sitcom is off to a good start.”

Reba McEntire returned to the world of TV sitcoms with Happy’s Place on NBC in 2024, and now, the network has set a premiere date for season 2. The second season will land on NBC’s fall schedule in November 2025 with a special premiere.

The first season sees Bobbi (McEntire) inherit her father’s tavern, only to find out that she has to share it with a half-sister (Belissa Escobido) she never knew she had. Happy’s Place season 2 will pick up the tension and family bonding as the last scripted series of NBC’s fall 2025 schedule to premiere.

Happy’s Place season 2 will premiere on Friday, November 7, at 8:00 PM; however, the premiere night will be a special one as two episodes will air instead of one, giving the audience an entire hour of the sitcom to look forward to.

What The Double Premiere Means For Happy’s Place

NBC Has Faith In The Sitcom

Though Happy’s Place was renewed for season 2 in February, there has not been a lot of information revealed about the upcoming season. With the news of a special premiere for the sophomore season of the series, that could change.

The double-episode premiere night is a good sign for Happy’s Place. It’s a sign of NBC’s faith in the sitcom, which averaged just over 3 million live viewers per episode in its first season (via TV Series Finale). It ranked 7th in the ratings for all of NBC’s scripted shows for the 2024-2025 season (also via TV Series Finale), helping it avoid cancellation.

While sitcoms are typically standalone episodes so that new viewers can pick up a sitcom at any point in the series, a double premiere could also indicate that the story from the premiere continues into the second episode of the series. That could help hold the attention of sitcom viewers who are used to having to wait for the next week.

A composite image of Bobbie looking shocked in front of the cast posing in the bar in Happy's Place

Happy’s Place showrunner Kevin Abbott previously told ScreenRant that season 2 will explore potential romance for Reba’s Bobbie, and that could easily start as early as the season 2 premiere. The audience already wants to see Bobbie happy because she’s Reba McEntire, and that double premiere could hook them further.

Showrunner Kevin Abbott previously worked on the sitcom Reba with Reba McEntire.

Our Take On The Double Premiere For Happy’s Place

NBC Is Giving Its Comedies A Chance To Thrive

image of Happy's Place Season 2 Reba as Bobbie and Melissa Peterman as Gabby hugging

These days, NBC is best known as the network home for (most of) Dick Wolf’s procedural series, like the Law & Order and One Chicago universes. It is not as well-known for its sitcoms as it was in the heyday of Friends. Giving Happy’s Place a double episode for its premiere night means NBC is ready to allow its sitcoms to grow.

Reba points the finger at herself while at the bar in Happy's Place

Happy’s Place is not the only sitcom that is getting a double premiere night from NBC. St. Denis Medical will premiere on Monday, November 3 at 8:00 PM with a double episode as well. Those double episodes will really allow NBC’s audience to soak in the series and make them more likely to return the next week.

For new viewers, those double premieres might even lead to checking out the previous seasons on Peacock. A double episode should work well for Happy’s Place, bringing the series the attention it deserves. Clearly, NBC has faith that new audience members will be tuning in for the full hour.

Three years after her divorce from ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Kelly Clarkson has opened up about her approach to finding love again.

During her residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas Sunday, the 43-year-old got candid with her audience about her dating life. “Dating can be very difficult, which is why I don’t,” she shared. “It’s hard.”

Kelly also admitted that navigating the dating world is even more challenging under the scrutiny of the public eye. “Add a spotlight and it’s like, dumpster fire,” she added.

The talk show host shares two children, River, 10, and Remy, eight, with her ex-husband. Kelly and Brandon tied the knot in 2013 and parted ways in 2022. As per their divorce settlement, Kelly agreed to give a one time payment of $1.3 million to Brandon along with  $45,601 a month in child support.

This isn’t the first time the star has shared an update on her relationship status. During an appearance on Today with Jenna & Friends back in May, Kelly said that she “hopes [she] does” find love again.

“I will say, I’m not not looking and I’m not looking,” she shared. “I’m very busy. You get this as a mom. I’ve got to focus right now. There’s a lot of work.”

The singer has never been one to shy away from the topic of her marriage ending. During an interview on the We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle podcast in 2023, she opened up about what led her to finally step away from the relationship.

“I was like, ‘I can do this. I can handle so much,’” she said. “My ego is, ‘I can control my actions, I can control my reactions, I can do this and I can reach this person and I can get through.’ It becomes a little bit of your ego that gets in the way.”

In her statement announcing the first weekend’s postponement, she penned: “We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans. I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars,” adding: “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice.

“I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve,” and concluded: “The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”

According to TODAY, Clarkson announced to the crowd that River would be joining her on stage, telling everyone, “We’re going to do her favorite song.”

River has been a fan of “Heartbeat Song” for a while. In fact, this wasn’t the first time she joined her mom on stage to sing it. Will River and Remy one day follow in their mom’s showbiz footsteps? Only time will tell, but Clarkson says they each have one important trait for performers. “My kids are both not shy, I think I know where they get that from,” she said.

Bublé is a certified Swiftie and proud “girl dad.” During the May 5 episode of The Voice Season 27, the five-time Grammy winner and returning Season 28 Coach revealed to Mega Mentor Sheryl Crow that he dances to Taylor Swift every day with his kiddos.

“I’m such a girl dad,” he gushed. “Like every morning in my kitchen, no joke, it’s a Taylor Swift dance party, which will now be a Sheryl Crow dance party, too.”

“All I wanna do is have a little fun until I die,” Bublé told the “If It Makes You Happy” singer. “That’s all I wanna do.”

This isn’t the first time Bublé has talked about how his family loves to rock out to a Taylor Swift bop. In a September 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bublé revealed that he used to be “jealous” of the pop star but now can’t resist her music.

“I would go from being like this jealous dude, and people going, ‘Do you like Taylor Swift?’ and me going ‘Yeah, she’s OK.’ To now me having dance parties every morning. Literally,” Bublé laughed. “And it’s not my kids, you know what I mean? It’s me going like, ‘Alexa, play ‘Shake it Off!’ And my kids going, ‘Dad!’”

Bublé describes himself on his Instagram bio as a “devoted papi” and that extends to their family dog, Coco. In a cute TikTok posted in April 2025, Bublé jumped on the trend of asking ChatGPT to turn your pet into a human.

“Coco, our 5th child,” Bublé captioned the video, which revealed ChatGPT thinks their tiny white pooch would be a child with long blonde hair.

Coco is often featured on Bublé’s social media. In February 2025, for instance, he shared another video on TikTok of his pup, proudly declaring that “Coco is a star!”

Michael Bublé and Luisana Lopilato had a sweet family photo shoot with their children

    @lulopilato

🌸 Mike and I have a little tradition: we take a family photo every year to see how much the kids have grown. And yes… they grow fast. Faster than you’d like, really. This year was fun, but also deeply emotional. Grateful to God for this gift of life… and to the cherry blossoms, for adding that final touch of magic. 🌸

In a video featuring all four of their children, Lopilato revealed on TikTok that taking a family photo has become a “little tradition” they do every year to see how much they’ve grown up.

“Mike and I have a little tradition: we take a family photo every year to see how much the kids have grown. And yes… they grow fast. Faster than you’d like, really,” she captioned the April 2025 video. “This year was fun, but also deeply emotional. Grateful to God for this gift of life… and to the cherry blossoms, for adding that final touch of magic.”

And they all looked adorable. While Bublé’s daughters wore matching blue floral dresses, his sons wore matching dusty blue pants. As for the parents, they both sported khakis for the photo shoot.

“OK babe, the week is ending,” she said. “I ask the people I love — friends, family, my kids, or you — what was the most amazing thing that happened to you today that you want to remember?”

“My favorite thing today was all the kids being home from school,” Bublé shared, adding that they all hung out on the couch and played a game together.

    “Aww,” Lopilato responded. “That’s nice!”

Lopilato added in the caption on her TikTok that “these little moments can totally change your week and leave memories that stick forever.”

In an April 2025 TikTok, Lopilato gave the couple’s fans a look inside their kitchen and the special meals she made for their kiddos.

“Today I will show you how I make breakfast for my children. I have three orders for today,” she said in Spanish, revealing that their son Elias had requested grilled cheese and their oldest, Noah, asked for toast with burrata and simple tomato sauce while their daughter Vida had a bowl of oatmeal.

“Muy muy rico!” one of their children can be heard saying in the background.

“I won three drawings while cooking,” the proud mom added. “So I can’t ask for more.”

As some may remember, It’s Time featured some of Michael’s most famous musical hits he recorded. With tunes like “Feeling Good,” “Try a Little Tenderness” and “Save the Last Dance for Me” featured, perhaps the most recognizable song on the album is “Home” (which OG Voice coach Blake Shelton later recorded a cover of in 2008).

We’re super stoked about this, and we can’t wait to see if there’s even more music from Michael in our futures!

What would The Voice be without the incessant friendly trash-talking and mind games among the coaches? Two months before the two-hour season 28 premiere on Sept. 22, the gang were back on set for a preview of the upcoming go-round in a one-minute video that dropped on Monday (July 28).

“We’re so excited!” Reba McEntire sang as she moseyed her way to set in the clip while last season’s winner, Michael Bublé, complimented her baby blue outfit and whispered “it’s so good to be back. I’m so happy to be here with you” into a boom mike. The energy was palpable as the coaches hugged staffers, and each other, with McEntire gushing, “got the band back!,” and announcing that “now the party can start” when Snoop Dogg brought her in for a warm squeeze.

“My ears are anxious to hear what they have to bring,” Snoop said of the upcoming season’s contestants. Before they hear a note, though, Bublé got in some light teasing on McEntire, pulling up his pant leg to reveal what he described as “the finest socks ever. Look at how beautiful they’re smiling at me,” he said while showing off the stockings printed with McEntire’s face.

“‘Hey Mike, I’m gonna beat you,’” he added in his approximation of the country superstar’s Southern accent. “She’ll eat you alive!” Horan promised of the claws-bearing McEntire, who bragged that she gets to “tell them what to do, like a big sister.” The clip ends with Bublé realizing his “dream come true,” with the Canadian crooner pulling out his hockey stick on the set and volleying around with a tennis ball.

New episodes of The Voice will air on Monday and Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on NBC and stream the next day on Peacock.

Vanna White is finally ready to marry her beau of 12 years, contractor John Donaldson — after being inspired by the picturesque romance of Hawaii. A source exclusively explains to Closer that the 67-year-old, who divorced her first husband in 2002, wasn’t keen on getting married again, but shooting new episodes of Wheel of Fortune in Waikiki with John in tow changed her mind.

“They’re spending lots of romantic time together between shooting and Vanna wants to show her appreciation for this wonderful guy who’s been so patient,” says the source. “So they’re going to do it in Hawaii.” The pair will host a “short and sweet ceremony,” adds the source. “Vanna and John have it so good that getting married can only make it better.”

    Meet Vanna White’s longtime boyfriend.

The Wheel of Fortune icon has been dating John Donaldson since 2012, a romantic relationship that she previously told PEOPLE “just works.”

White was introduced to Donaldson over a decade ago following her amicable split from restaurateur George Santo Pietro in 2002. The former couple wed in 1990 and famously announced that she was pregnant with their first child via a puzzle on the game show in 1992.

However, a week later, she revealed that she had a miscarriage. “I so wanted to be pregnant and have a baby, so then when I finally got pregnant, I wanted to tell the world immediately,” she told PEOPLE in 2019, recalling the “devastating” news.

But White recalled “good news” too, sharing that she “was able to get pregnant again and had two beautiful, healthy children.” She and Santo Pietro welcomed a son named Nicholas in 1994 and a daughter named Giovanna “Gigi” in 1997.

Outside of her romantic relationships, White has also maintained a decades-long friendship with her former Wheel of Fortune co-host Pat Sajak. He retired from the game show in June 2024, and White is now co-hosting alongside Ryan Seacrest.

In September 2024, White did admit to Andy Cohen that, back in her single days, contestants on the Wheel of Fortune would sometimes flirt with her.

“I can’t really talk to them during the show, but I’ve gotten a few looks,” she said with a smile.

Here’s everything to know about White’s boyfriend, Donaldson.

    He’s a California native

Donaldson is a California native, born and raised in Santa Monica. Since he was young, he knew he wanted to work in the construction industry, a career that began when he accepted a job as a laborer in the San Fernando Valley.

His early duties ranged from packing lumber for $5 per hour on a commercial job site to becoming a carpenter driving around neighborhoods looking for work on framing crews. His hard work was recognized, eventually leading to his head foreman gig working on luxury homes in the Hollywood Hills.

Donaldson’s resume was star-studded, with names including Richard Dreyfuss, Dan Akroyd and Martin Mull. Eventually, he earned his contractor’s license and picked up various construction projects of his own — in part which led him to his ultimate goal to run his own shop.

Donaldson owns his own construction company, JDC Construction + Development Group, in California. He is the president and building developer at the company, which was previously known as John R. Donaldson, Inc. until July 2014.

“JDC prides itself on its tradesman roots and the insight which years of hands on experience provides to property owners, architects and engineers in developing realistic plans for revitalization projects, as well as finding appropriate solutions to renovation challenges,” the company states on its website.

Introduced in 1987 and based in Southern California, JDC specializes in “the restoration and rehabilitation of Multifamily properties and now the development of new ground up multifamily projects.” According to the site, Donaldson built his general contracting firm “on the foundations of trust and professionalism” through good economic times and bad.

Throughout his career, Donaldson has taken on major projects as a result of natural events that occurred in California. Among them was the devastating 1994 Northridge earthquake that occurred on Jan. 17 in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.

“Working on these earthquake-damaged buildings was a great learning experience in understanding how to conduct major repairs and maintain the building’s architectural integrity,” reads Donaldson’s company website. At the time, Donaldson and his partner took on the project before going their separate ways in 1998.

“John says that he finds great satisfaction in being able to help transform old dated buildings and bringing them new life,” the website states. “He adds value to these projects not only through his construction expertise, but through his ability to work closely with architects and others in conceptualizing the creative aspects of the redevelopment.”

White and Donaldson’s romance dates back to 2012 after the TV personality and Santo Pietro split amicably in 2002. White met the real estate developer when a friend brought him to one of her barbecues.

“I remember looking at him and thinking, ‘He’s really cute,’” she told PEOPLE with a laugh. “We ended up talking for a long time that night.” They’ve been together ever since.

“It just works,” she said of their breezy relationship. “He lets me be me, I let him be him. There is no drama.”

Since then, they’ve made various public appearances together. Donaldson has accompanied White on several red carpets and charity events — some of which include the 2016 Cyrsalis Butterfly Ball, the 2017 Brent Shapiro Foundation For Alcohol and Drug Prevention fundraiser and the 2019 annual Race to Erase MS Gala.

    He’s considered “family” to Vanna

In addition to showing support for one another at public events, White never shies from showcasing her love for Donaldson on social media. She often posts sweet tributes on Instagram, uploading images paired with captions dedicated to her partner and two kids.

“Happy Holidays,” White wrote alongside a photo on Instagram in December 2024, which showed Gigi, Donaldson and Nikko in a group shot.
