‘The Voice’ Reveals Shocking New Twist for Season 28 Battle Rounds
Season 28 of The Voice is going to be unlike any other season of the show.
With the field narrowed down to 48, The Voice is heading from the Blind Auditions to the Battle Round. Things aren’t going to work as they did in the past, though.
On the Oct. 13 episode of the show, contestants learned that their coach would not be picking their partner for the Battle. Instead, the contestants must decide who they want to face off against themselves.
Snoop Dogg’s team was the first to learn the shocking news. The 12 contestant’s on the superstar’s team filed into the room expecting to pose for a photo. However, they were met by their coach instead.
“The crazy part about this year’s Battle? Y’all gonna trip off of this,” Snoop told his team. “This is the crazy part—for the first time in Voice history, you have to pick who you’re battling. You pick your partner and then I pick the song, and then we’ll figure it out from there.”
The Voice Contestants React to “Wild” Rule Change
Sadie Dahl called the rule change “wild,” while Emmanuel Rey admitted that it left him “at a loss for words.”
The contestants didn’t have much time to consider their options, as they were forced to pick their duet partner then and there.
“Everyone’s jaw hit the floor and it’s just pandemonium from there,” Mindy Miller said, while Lauren Anderson worried, “Everyone on Snoop’s team is so good. I don’t want to go up against anyone.”
Jerrell Melton called the scene “really chaotic” as he noted, The stakes are very high. There’s no guarantee that one of us might to get to stick around.”
After the duet partners were set, Snoop told the cameras why he was a fan of the new rule.
“Letting them pick has taught me so much about my artists in terms of how they think, how they move,” he explained.
Fans will have to wait to see how the move affects the Battle Rounds, as Team Snoop performs alongside contestants on Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and Niall Horan’s teams.

The Price Is Right fans call out show’s ‘incredible’ moment that stunned host Drew Carey and contestants

The Price Is Right recently had what they called an “incredible” moment that was historic for the game show.
A contestant achieved the “closest bid” in the game show’s history, likely surprising many viewers.
Host Drew Carey often admits when he’s impressed by a contestant showing great knowledge or skills on the show.
The latest occurrence seemingly left the host momentarily speechless before he could describe what happened.
The contestants also appeared to be stunned by what happened at that moment.
However, some of the show’s fans called out the achievement, suggesting that the show had a more significant moment: A perfect bid on The Price Is Right.
Contestant achieved ‘closest Showcase bid’ on game show
During the Friday, June 7 episode of The Price Is Right, a contestant named Patrice was vying to win some sweet prizes in the Showcase, the final segment of the game show.
Patrice’s Showcase prizes included an espresso machine, a trip to Miami, Florida, and a new Kia K5.
Carey announced that Patrice had bid $39,500 before he opened his card with the correct amount.
The host looked at the card, paused, and took several steps back, staring at it without saying a word. Carey looked stunned before speaking.
“So let me tell you. Let me just tell you,” Drew said as he dialed up the suspense amid audience cheers.
“$39,501,” he announced as Patrice looked shocked by the news.
The contestant was shocked, momentarily disappearing as he sank behind his podium. The show sounded alarms, bells, and other sound effects to reveal he’d won both Showcases.
“Off by a dollar,” Carey said as he walked over to the podiums, adding, “With no help from anybody in the audience by the way.”
When contestants bid within $100 of their Showcase without going over, they win a Double Showcase. So with Patrice’s win, he also claimed his opponent’s prizes in her Showcase.
The Price Is Right shared a clip of the impressive feat on their Instagram page, with the “closest Showcase bid in Price Is Right history” written over the video.
“What an incredible moment on today’s #PriceisRight! Congratulations to Patrice— our jaws are still on the floor! 🤯 #win #wholesome #showcaseshowdown,” the IG post caption said.
Drew indicated that the Double Showcase win was worth over $83,000 in prizes. He called it “the best showcase bid in the history of the show; in my opinion,” which likely caught some viewers’ attention.
It was a great ending for Patrice, as earlier in the show, he had missed out on winning a car during his time on stage. His wife Tina was cheering him on throughout the entire experience.
Viewers reacted to impressive moment on The Price Is Right
While The Price Is Right fans celebrated what the show labeled a historic moment with the contestant’s recent achievement, some viewers seemed to dismiss it as impressive.
A comment mentioned that the “late Bob Barker loves this moment,” as the legendary host had winners with bids that were “$2, $5, $8” away from the Showcase price. However, he never had a “$1 differential” like Drew got on the show.
“When Drew backed up, you knew it was gonna be BIG! Love it! Congrats,” a commenter wrote.
“Saw this today! This moment left me completely speechless! That’s one for the books,” another commenter said. Price is Right fans celebrate. Pic credit: @therealpriceisright/Instagram
A contestant gave a ‘perfect bid’ in 2008
More than a few viewers suggested that the contestant’s “closest bid” moment wasn’t as historic as another contestant who bid the exact price of their Showcase.
A commenter mentioned, “A guy bid the exact amount on both his showcase and the initial item for bid on like Drews 2nd year.”
Another pointed out, “That was NOT the best bid in Price is Right, remember our guy who got it exactly right??? $23593 something like that?” More Price is Right fans weigh in. Pic credit: @therealpriceisright/Instagram
“Wow! Wonder what would happen if someone hit the exact amount,” a commenter asked.
Another commenter replied that it “happened in 2008” and “Even Drew had an interview with Kevin Pollak concerning the exact bid.” Price is Right fans debate. Pic credit: @therealpriceisright/Instagram
Another individual commented that the recent historic moment was “the best double showcase winner I’ve ever seen with my very own eyes!”
“Go back to December 16, 2008 where someone had the exact Showcase bid and won both,” a commenter replied. A memorable moment is discussed. Pic credit: @therealpriceisright/Instagram
All sorts of unique and hard-to-believe feats occur during The Price Is Right.
Not long ago, the show featured a contestant who went overboard giving what some viewers called a “disrespectful” million-dollar bid on Contestant’s Row, as he said he’d lost a bet and had to do it. Even so, he managed to win his way on stage later.
For those wondering, Terry Kneiss was the contestant who gave the perfect bid in 2008. There’s a documentary about his Double Showcase win called Perfect Bid: The Contestant Who Knew Too Much.
The documentary spotlights Ted Slauson, who helped Kneiss win but didn’t receive credit from Kneiss. Slauson became an expert at knowing the prices of prizes on the show and yelling out bid amounts to contestants, often helping them win.
Patrice’s bid still ranks among historic moments because it was closer than any contestant ever achieved without being a “perfect bid.”
The Price Is Right fans blast ‘unfair’ schedule change for when show returns with new episodes
Drew Carey also hosts the primetime version of The Price Is Right. Pic credit: CBS
Fans of The Price Is Right have learned when they might see new episodes of their favorite game show.
As daytime episodes are on hiatus since earlier this month, reruns are airing daily on CBS.
This will continue until Season 53 premieres, likely sometime in September.
While the date for the daytime show’s return is still unknown, a date for the upcoming The Price Is Right at Night premiere is known.
The game show is a primetime version, sometimes including special themes and offering more valuable prizes than the daytime version.
While viewers will finally get new episodes, some fans expressed frustrations about the schedule for watching the primetime episodes.
Fans blast ‘unfair’ schedule change for TPIR show
A recent Reddit post, citing The Futon Critic, informed fans that The Price Is Right at Night returns with its premiere on Monday, September 23.
Based on The Futon Critic’s show details, the show will return with a one-hour episode in the 8 p.m. Eastern Time slot for primetime. That particular time slot raised some concerns with fans.
“I don’t know why CBS is moving the night shows to Monday night? They are now competing head to head with NFL Monday Night Football,” a Reddit commenter wrote.
“yea doesn’t make sense unless there’s some other CBS shows on other days during the week they didn’t want to mess with?” another commenter replied. Pic credit: @levikings04/Reddit.com/r/ThePriceIsRight
According to The U.S. Sun, an unidentified social media commenter called the schedule change “unfair.”
Another Reddit commenter vented about not knowing the schedule for which episodes would air and when.
“Wish I knew the episode numbers. I attended two TPIR at night tapings last month,” the commenter wrote, with another replying they’d “likely be revealed once we get closer to the dates.” Pic credit: @levikings04/Reddit.com/r/ThePriceIsRight
The 2024 National Football League (NFL) season begins on September 5. Monday Night Football (MNF) typically airs on Mondays on ESPN, with streaming coverage available through various platforms, including ESPN.
ESPN premieres the 2024 NFL season’s Monday Night Football episode on September 9. On Monday, September 23, they’ll present a matchup between the Washington Commanders and Cincinnati Bengals, opposite The Price Is Right at Night premiere.
It’s also worth noting that the NFL schedule reveals the September 30 installment of MNF airs on ABC, which allows more viewers to see the game opposite TPIR.
TPIR has released episodes on different days
Since its release, The Price Is Right at Night has premiered new episodes on different days of the week. Specials with celebrity guests from other CBS shows and holiday-themed or tribute editions have also aired.
Celebrities that appeared included Ludacris, RuPaul, and Tiffany Haddish. CBS shows that have participated in The Price Is Right at Night-themed episodes included Survivor, Young Sheldon, and The Amazing Race.
Earlier this year, The Price Is Right at Night aired a Super Bowl special, which arrived on Wednesday, February 7. There was also a Valentine’s Day special on Wednesday, February 14.
On Wednesday, May 29, the show was a Superfan Jr. special featuring younger contestants considered superfans of the show. Before that, two Jackpot specials of the game show premiered on Monday, May 20, and Thursday, May 23.
The news of the game show’s primetime premiere arrived after its recent nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award.
As of this writing, it is unclear what prompted CBS’s decision to air The Price Is Right at Night on Mondays during the 2024 NFL season or previous seasons. Most of the game show’s episodes arrive on Paramount+ for subscribers to watch after the original airing.
The Price Is Right at Night premieres Monday, September 23 at 8/7c on CBS.
Drew Carey Weighs in on Retiring as ‘Price Is Right’ Host
More than 15 years after he came on down and took over hosting duties from Bob Barker, Drew Carey has no plans to retire as host of The Price Is Right. Speaking about his future on the long-running game show, the comedian toldEntertainment Tonight that he wants “to die on stage with a microphone in my hand.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” he told the outlet at the CBS Fall Schedule Celebration earlier this month. “I think Bob made a mistake by retiring. I’m not gonna make that same mistake. As long as my heart is ticking and they want me to be on the show, I think I’m gonna do The Price is Right. I just love it.”
After starring on The Drew Carey Show from 1995 until 2004 and in films like Coneheads and The Big Tease, Carey transitioned to the world of game shows in 2007 when he was named as Barker’s replacement. Barker retired in June 2007 after 35 years of hosting the show. Carey was named as the game show’s new host the following month and hosted his first episode that October. He told ET, “I think I was made for it.”
The Price Is Right is the longest-running game show in the US.
The iconic show first premiered in 1972 with Barker as host. Although he officially retired in 2007, Barker continued to appear on television, sometimes in a guest host capacity and returned to The Price is Right three times, his final appearance coming as an April Fool’s Day prank in 2015 when he switched places with Carey.
More than 15 years after stepping away from the show, Barker died in August 2023 after battling Alzheimer’s disease.
He was 99. Paying tribute to Barker at the time, Carey wrote on social media, “very sad day for the Price Is Right family, and animal lovers all over the world. There hasn’t been a day on set that I didn’t think of Bob Barker and thank him. I will carry his memory in my heart forever. #RIPBobBarker We love you.”
He told ET a month later, “he was so good at this. He was so good at relating to people and getting them to be relaxed and be themselves. You watch his demeanor and his attitude. He never seemed stressed.”
Melissa Peterman Says Reba McEntire Is ‘Really Happy’ With BF Rex Linn: ‘He’s in the Family Now’

In case you were wondering the status of Reba McEntire‘s hot new romance with boyfriend Rex Linn, the country singer’s longtime friend Melissa Peterman reveals she’s “really happy.” In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, the Baby Daddy star opens up about her pal’s budding relationship and dishes the CSI: Miami actor is already considered part of the “family.”
“He [knows] the way to her heart,” Melissa, 49, sweetly reveals. Even though the lovebirds were “just starting to really talk” and get to know each other in quarantine amid coronavirus earlier this year, the Working Class actress told Reba, 65, that perhaps it was a “blessing.”

While chatting about whether or not Rex, 63, is “The One” for the “Fancy” songstress, Melissa dishes why they have yet to figure it out. “I think the definition of ‘The One’ changes as our lives change,” she explains.
“When you’re 20, ‘The One’ is this guy because you want to have this sort of life,” she continues. “And when you’re 40, ‘The One’ might mean something different, and I think where Reba is in her life right now, ‘The One,’ I don’t know what that definition is.”
Melissa is “unsure” of the iconic record producer’s meaning of a soulmate, but she knows her longtime pal and her new beau are “just doing well” and couldn’t be happier. “I think the luxury is getting to a place in your life where you can be content with how it is right now, and I think she’s definitely very wise about that,” the Reba alum tells Closer. “So I think for her, that’s what [‘The One’] means.”
There are so many things that Reba adores about the Cliffhanger actor, but Melissa points out the fact that he always “[shows] kindness” for her friends and family. At the time they were self-isolating at their separate homes in lockdown, the Surviving Suburbia actress says Rex was “sending these packages” of “steaks and pecan pie” to Reba’s loved ones.

“I was like, ‘Oh, perfect. Well played, Rex,’” gushes Melissa, who cohosts the “Living and Learning” podcast with Reba. “‘Well done, sir. Well done.’ He showed kindness that way, like thinking of her and her sister and family at that time.”
Having a boyfriend who shares a close relationship with her beloved family members is something that’s “really important” to the Grammy Award winner. Fortunately, Rex is “somebody who’s kind and loves everyone in her world too, which is great,” Melissa notes. “I hope he approves of me because he’s in the family now!”
As one of Reba’s best friends for more than the last 20 years, Melissa couldn’t be more thrilled that the “Nights the Lights Went Out in Georgia” singer found love.
“She’s very loyal and I feel like sometimes there’s this quiet understanding that we’re gonna know each other forever,” Melissa says. “She’s true blue, a ride or die. That’s all I can say and I know that. I can call her at any point, at 3 in the morning and ask for something I needed and it would be there.”

Rex Linn Says He and GF Reba McEntire Were ‘a Little Nervous’ About Working Together on ‘Happy’s Place’
Omar Vega/WireImage
Reba McEntire planned to enjoy some much deserved downtime when she received a call about starring in Happy’s Place.
This new sitcom about a woman who inherits a restaurant — and with it discovers some long-lost family — is scheduled to debut on October 18 on NBC. “I said, ‘I think I’ll take next year off,’” Reba tells Closer. “The angels were going, ‘Oh, not yet. We’ve got something for you to do.’”
Even if it wasn’t literally divine intervention, Happy’s Place was the opportunity that Reba had been looking for since the end of her first sitcom, Reba, which ran for six seasons from 2001 to 2007. “It’s my favorite thing to do,” says the country music star, who spoke with Closer at the recent Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour. She confides that she prefers the stability and set schedule of a television show over the unpredictable rigors of a cross country music tour. “Consistency is not something I’ve had the first 20-30 years of my career,” Reba explains. “With TV, you’re in the same parking spot. Same stage. Same craft services. There’s your family that you get to work with and play with. The hours are great, the weekends are off.”
Inside Reba McEntire’s New Sitcom With Rex Linn
Reba’s chosen family for her new sitcom includes two familiar faces: Melissa Peterman, who costarred as Barbra Jean on Reba; and Rex Linn, Reba’s real-life love interest, who also appeared with her in the 2020 drama Big Sky and Lifetime’s 2023 film The Hammer. “We were both a little nervous about it at first. I mean, you just never know,” Rex confides to Closer about working together. “But it ended up being wonderful.” Reba agrees. “Our chemistry on the camera is great. He’s also my coach. He helps me with my dialogue. I love that he’s always got my back and I’ve got his.”
The pair began dating during the 2020 pandemic and aren’t married yet, but they might as well be.
The new TV series guarantees that they will be seeing each other day and night — and neither is complaining. “We love getting up in the morning together,” said Rex. “We like going to bed together and talking about our day. We also love going to work together.”
Rodin Eckenroth/Getty Images
There have been challenges. While filming Big Sky, Reba was also flying out to perform concerts every weekend. “We’d work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and then she got on a plane Thursday morning,” recalls Rex, who admits that their relationship was “tested” by this unforgiving schedule, “but we never got in an argument. Never. Now with Happy’s Place, we just love to be able to do it again.”
Reba is also looking forward to playing a role that’s not based on herself. “Bobbie’s a pretty intense character,” says Reba. “She’s very devoted to the tavern and to her dad’s memory, and she wants everything to stay as it is.”
Of course, change is inevitable. While Reba’s character tries to fight it, the performer is happy to embrace fresh challenges and new chapters in her already remarkable life. “Out of all the things I get to do, this is my favorite,” says Reba of sitcom acting. “You just get to go to work and play. I absolutely love it. And getting to work with these folks? Icing on the cake!”
Gwen Stefani Reveals One Thing About Blake Shelton That Makes Her ‘Sick’
As much as Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have proven to be a great match for each other over the years, there’s still one thing that Blake does that makes Gwen Stefani completely “sick” to her stomach. So, what is it?
Gwen Stefani And Blake Shelton Prove That Opposites Attract
When Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani got together years ago, many of their respective fanbases did not think that they would make it as a couple for the long haul. While it’s true that sometimes opposites can attract, in some cases, if people’s lifestyles are too different, they can’t always successfully find a middle ground to make things work.
In Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s case, finding a way to merge Shelton’s country lifestyle with Gwen’s love of everything glitz and glam of the big city proved to be a monumental undertaking. However, over the years, they have certainly found some surprising ways to make things work. Gwen Stefani | Instagram
Gwen Reveals The One Thing About Blake Shelton That Makes Her ‘Sick’
Over the years, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton have navigated everything from blending families to dealing with split rumors from the tabloids, and more. Through it all, the couple have stood together, all through the absolute worst of it.
However, according to a recent insider, even all of these years later, there’s one thing about Blake Shelton that the No Doubt singer absolutely cannot stand.
It turns out, the one hobby that Blake has that grinds Gwen’s gears the wrong way is his passion for hunting. If Gwen had it completely her way, she would prefer it if her husband stopped killing things for sport altogether. Blake Shelton/YouTube
Gwen Absolutely Detests Blake’s Hunting Hobby
Of course, it doesn’t get much more country than going hunting. Just about every country music star out there likes to relax and unwind by hunting something for sport. While it may seem archaic to some, it’s still a major pastime for a lot of people, including Blake. Gwen Stefani, however, is not a fan.
Speaking to Life & Style about the issue, an insider recently dished: “They agreed to disagree about his hunting back when they first got together, but that doesn’t mean it’s an easy thing for Gwen to handle.”
The insider went on, adding: “She’s a huge animal rights person, and has been mostly vegan for a long time, so it’s pretty hard to have her husband out there killing animals for a good time. She’s certainly tried to get him to see her point, but it’s not something he will ever back down on. Still, the least he could do is be a little more low-key about it. He seems to get a kick out of rubbing it in her face, even though he knows it makes her sick to her stomach.” Blake Shelton/YouTube
In some cases, you can’t win them all. In this case, specifically, it doesn’t look like Blake or Gwen will change their positions on the matter of hunting anytime soon.

Watch: Reba McEntire’s unexpected move on ‘The Voice’ brings Snoop Dogg to tears

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: ‘The Voice’ Season 26 premiere on September 23 brought an emotional surprise when new coach Snoop Dogg was seen wiping away tears following a heartfelt moment with fellow coach Reba McEntire.
During a blind audition, McEntire took an unexpected step that not only thrilled the audience but also marked a historic first for the show.
Reba McEntire expresses regret after passing on contestant’s soulful performance
The touching moment unfolded when Reba McEntire, the iconic singer famous for her hit ‘Fancy’, experienced a change of heart following contestant Kendall Eugene’s heartfelt rendition of Morgan Wallen’s ‘Don’t Think Jesus’.
Initially, McEntire, along with the other coaches, opted not to turn her chair, but she quickly recognized that she had made a mistake.
“I liked everything about it,” McEntire said, reflecting on Eugene’s performance.
When Eugene candidly responded, “(You) should’ve turned,” McEntire couldn’t help but agree, quipping back, “I was going to say that exact same words.” Still puzzled by her own decision not to turn, McEntire later admitted, “I don’t understand why I did not turn around.”
However, McEntire wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass her by. She seized the moment and made history on ‘The Voice’ by becoming the first coach to utilize the new Coach Replay button, a feature that enables coaches to change their minds and claim a contestant they initially passed over.
“We’ve got this new thing this year, that is a Coach Replay button. I’m going to use mine,” she announced, pressing the button to the audience’s excitement.
Snoop Dogg tears up as Reba McEntire redeems a missed opportunity
Kendall Eugene’s emotional response, as he buried his face in his hands, only heightened the significance of the moment.
Snoop Dogg, a new coach on the show this season, was clearly touched by the scene. “Wow! Go give that man a hug,” he urged McEntire, who then embraced Eugene.
As McEntire hugged the contestant, the camera returned to Snoop, who was spotted lifting his glasses to wipe away tears.
“I knew in my heart I wanted him on my team,” McEntire expressed, emphasizing her connection to Eugene’s performance.
Snoop’s emotional display persisted throughout the episode. Later on, the legendary rapper became misty-eyed again when fellow coach Michael Buble performed alongside contestant Ben Fagerstedt.
The duo delivered a breathtaking rendition of Frank Sinatra’s classic ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’, prompting Snoop to stand up for a standing ovation. “Damn, that was hell of a coaching right there,” Snoop remarked, clearly impressed.
Reba’s new NBC sitcom ‘Happy’s Place’ will be set in Knoxville
A Queen of Country is making Knoxville the setting of her new sitcom series, “Happy’s Place.” Reba McEntire said in an interview that she had been to Knoxville “lots of times” and has a friend who lives in the city.
“I’ve been to Knoxville performing lots of times, too. So, visiting and even little vacations down there. That’s a beautiful part of the country,” Reba said. “It’s just a new, fresh idea and we’re going down a different road.”
The new show is slated to premiere on Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. Screeners showed Reba off surrounded by University of Tennessee logos, such as a “Power T” hanging in a restaurant scene.
NBC said the show follows Bobbie, played by Reba, after she inherits her father’s restaurant. While reading her father’s will, Bobbie finds out that her business partner will be Isabella, the half-sister she never knew she had. She will be played by Belissa Escobedo, who appeared in Hocus Pocus 2 and Blue Beetle.
“It’s like you’re walking into a space already filled with so much love, and stories and companionship,” said Escobedo. “And Reba over here makes everything better on set, so it’s really good.”
In an interview, Reba told NBC that the show is, “Gonna be that heartfelt, fun, funny, laugh at our silliness. But also, [you’ll] be touched with the heart in our show.”
Melissa Peterman rejoins Reba on Happy’s Place as a bartender close to Bobbie. Peterman and Reba shared screen time on the early-2000s eponymous sitcom that catapulted Reba’s career. On that show, Peterman placed a dental hygienist who had an affair with Reba’s on-screen husband.
The two also worked together on projects like Young Sheldon, Working Class and The Hammer. Reba also said the showrunner from a previously planned reboot of her sitcom was working on Happy’s Place.
NBC also reported that Reba’s off-screen boyfriend will play a short-order cook on Happy’s Place, described as a patriarchal character who may act in place of the previous owner of the restaurant.
Anyone who wants to watch Happy’s Place will be able to find it on NBC on Oct. 18 and streaming on Peacock TV on Oct. 19.
