‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ Gets Early Season 6 Renewal, Keeping It Going Through At Least 2026

“The Drew Barrymore Show” is locked to continue through at least 2026. The syndicated daytime talker, which premieres its Season 5 on Sept. 9, has just been given an early Season 6 greenlight by CBS’ owned-and-operated stations — which takes the show through the 2025-2026 TV season.
The news was announced Thursday by Wendy McMahon, president and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures. CBS Media Ventures previously announced this fall’s Season 5 pickup in January.
“Drew is a one-of-a-kind talent who is an integral part of the CBS and Paramount family,” McMahon said. “This early renewal and upgrades are a testament to our commitment to ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ and its loyal audience, who tune in every day to see Drew’s warmth, inquisitiveness and spontaneity.”

The news also comes as “The Drew Barrymore Show” has received time slot upgrades in seven of the nation’s top 20 markets, the distribber said. That includes new spots on CBS stations in six markets, as well as a new station and better time slot in Houston.
“Over the last few seasons, stations have realized that ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ is like no other series in daytime, bringing Drew’s brand of positivity and ad-friendly content to viewers on a consistent basis,” McMahon added. “Many of these upgrades now pair ‘Drew’ with a ‘CBS Mornings’ lead-in, which has proven to be a powerful combination. This season, in markets where ‘Drew’ airs at 9 a.m., its ratings are 21% higher among total viewers when ‘CBS Mornings’ is the lead-in.”
The renewal comes following this year’s format change, in which “The Drew Barrymore Show” was reconstructed as two half-hour episodes that stations could run together back-to-back or be split apart to air separately.
In many cases, that restores “Drew Barrymore Show” back to a full hour. In 2022, CBS Media Ventures gave stations the option of airing a half-hour version of the talker. That meant some CBS stations, like New York’s WCBS, launched a new half-hour local newscast from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., serving as a lead-in to the first half-hour of “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

The show is still being produced as 30 minute blocks, where stations can run episodes back to back or split them up. But now, “Drew Barrymore Show” will once again air as an hour block at 9 a.m., leading out of “CBS Mornings,” on WCBS New York, KTVT Dallas and WBZ Boston. The show has also been moved to a full hour at 3 p.m. on KYW Philadelphia, KPIX San Francisco and WFOR Miami. And in Houston, the show has been moved to NBC affil KPRC at 10 a.m.
According to CBS Media Ventures, “The Drew Barrymore Show” is averaging 1.1 million viewers, growing viewership by 8% in the first quarter of 2024 over the prior quarter. The show, which originates from New York, is distributed by CBS Media Ventures and filmed in New York City. Drew Barrymore and Jason Kurtz are executive producers.
