Drew Carey is known to The Price is Right viewers as a happy-go-lucky, regular guy who always smiles and cracks jokes, but the beloved host has faced his fair share of struggles over the years, and has been open about his mental health.

In a new interview with Us Weekly, Carey opened up about his love life, yubi how he doesn’t date, and learning to move on following the tragic death of his former fiancée, Amie Harwick, who was murdered by an ex-boyfriend in 2020.

Carey said he thinks about Harwick “every day,” revealing, “Her death still affects me and my ideas about relationships and intimacy. It was all damaged by first our breakup, and then, the day before she died, when she texted me.”

The comedian explained how he and Harwick went through a “really bad” but “necessary” breakup. “I couldn’t think about her or see a picture of her. I didn’t want to be reminded,” he shared. “And then I got a text from her out of the blue. She said, ‘Hey, it’s Amie. I’ve been thinking a lot about forgiveness. I would love to get together with you and talk about some things.’”

Carey said he texted her “that I loved her” and agreed to meet up with her the following week. “I heard from one of her friends that she shed tears about my saying that I loved her still. Which I did. I loved her madly even though we were broken up,” he stated.

Unfortunately, Carey and Harwick never got to reconcile, as the next day, she was murdered.

“It destroyed me for a while,” Carey said, admitting, “I still don’t date. I have women I go out with and spend time with, but it’s all platonic, and I don’t care about anything else. Amie’s death really affected everything.”

The Drew Carey Show star explained how Harwick’s funeral and connecting with her friends and family helped with the healing process. “We held each other up through the funeral and the trial [of Harwick’s ex-boyfriend Gareth Pursehouse, who was convicted of killing her],” he said. “Now Amie’s memory and the things she lived for keep us going.”

Before his relationship with Harwick, Carey dated Nicole Jaracz, whom he proposed to in 2007. However, they never got married, calling off their engagement and separating in 2012. While Carey has never had kids of his own, he was a proud stepfather to Jaracz’s son, Connor, whom she had from a previous relationship. Carey has remained a presence in Connor’s life since the breakup.

He’s also a godfather, telling Us, “I have this great female friend group that I cherish, and I’m godfather to several sets of kids from the group. We hang out together, went on vacation together and we talk to each other every day. That’s the biggest blessing in my life right now.”

Vanna White Threatens To Quit ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ If She Doesn’t Get Hefty Raise: Report

    LOADINGERROR LOADING

“Wheel of Fortune” letter-revealer Vanna White has a puzzle for her bosses to solve: How to pay her more money so she doesn’t walk.

The venerable game show co-host has threatened to quit if she does not receive more than double her $3 million salary to get closer to the $15 million annual pay of outgoing host Pat Sajak, TMZ reported Thursday. The entertainment outlet cited “sources with direct knowledge of the negotiations.”

White has pulled down the same annual wage since 2005, Puck reported. Sajak announced earlier this month that he’ll retire after his upcoming 41st season. White has been at his side since 1982. She hosted the show temporarily in 2019 while Sajak recovered from surgery.

Amid the announcement that Ryan Seacrest will succeed Sajak, White reportedly retained Bryan Freedman, the entertainment lawyer said to be helping Don Lemon and Tucker Carlson with their breakups from CNN and Fox News, respectively.

And Freedman is playing hardball for White, demanding half of what Sajak pulls in, roughly $7.5 million, TMZ reported. But Sony Pictures Television Studios, which produces the show, has balked during what one source described as “difficult negotiations.”

White has characterized her salary fight as a “statement” for all women, a source told TMZ.

She’s got a point. The gender pay disparity has barely budged over the last 20 years, with women earning an average of 18% less than men in 2022, according to Pew Research.

Puck reported previously that White was seeking a raise in her contract renewal. White, who was bandied about as a possible successor to Sajak, struck a friendly tone after Sajak’s surprise announcement.

“When we started @WheelofFortune who could have imagined we’d still be at it 41 seasons later?” White wrote, adding: “I couldn’t be happier to have shared the stage with you for all these years with one more to come.”

As the “Wheel of Fortune” host, Ryan Seacrest has come under fire from fans on several occasions for his antics as well as blunders that possibly cost contestants big wins. His role as the host once again came under scrutiny when a contestant came painfully close to getting the puzzle right, but could not get it right in time. Some fans also believe that a buzzer went off before the timer counted down to 0, which could have played a part.

According to a TV Insider report, Jamel played well throughout the game as he won $40,998 and a trip to Alaska on his way to the Bonus Round. He had chosen the ‘Phrase’ category and was given the letters R, S, T, L, N, and E as per the rules of the show.

After these were revealed, the contestant had the chance to pick three more consonants and one more vowel. Vanderburg picked the letters W, Y, P, and A. These were excellent choices as a lot of the puzzle opened up. It now read, “‘ALWAYS _N  _E_AN_.” He had 10 seconds to get it right, and halfway through it, he said, “Always on demand.” Unfortunately, that was not the correct answer.

As soon as he said that, a buzzer went off, but the contestant had a lot of time left. Vanderburg seemed to stop guessing after the buzzer as Ryan Seacrest said, “No.” He stood there in silence as the timer counted down before the correct answer was revealed. It was ‘Always in demand.’ He had missed out on it by a single letter. One can’t help but wonder if he hadn’t stopped guessing, he might have gotten it right.

The contestant screamed in disappointment, and it was compounded when Sacrest revealed that he could have won a new car. However, the anchor remained upbeat as he had won a lot of money. “But you know what, I got $40,000. I’m going to Alaska. It’s all good,” he said. The host praised him for his positive attitude and energy. Fans of the show, however, had a less positive reaction to the outcome.

Some blamed the show for sounding the buzzer too early, and some even blamed Seacrest. “What just happened on #WheelOfFortune? The buzzer went off, but the clock was still running. Jamel was cheated,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “@WheelofFortune Jamal got screwed! They buzzed him with time still on the clock!” complained another.

“He was so close, but I love his positivity in spite of not winning,” one fan commented on YouTube. “They should have given him a win,” one more suggested. “Wow, that was just…wow! I bet a whole lot of people guessed ALWAYS ON DEMAND as well,” a fan exclaimed.

Price Is Right fans fume after contestant is booted from game after ‘painful’ blunder

One The Price is Right contestant failed a basic element of the game “four times” before being “asked to leave” in a toe-curling moment.

Wheel of Fortune: Rex & Katherine’s Bonus Round

This The Price Is Right contestant just couldn’t get the hang of the game – even with the help of host Drew Carey.

The contestant in question, whose name was Elvira, set a record by spinning the famous wheel numerous times on the game show, before not moving on to the next round.

Usually, that would be a great first spin, but unfortunately, host Drew broke the news to her that it didn’t count.

“The wheel has to go around at least once,” he instructed.

Elvira scored 65 on her first spin

Drew took matters into his own hands and said: “Here. Let me help you out.”

With Drew’s help, Elvira landed on 75 and he told her she had one more spin.

He tried to help her again, but she told him she had everything under control so Drew left her to it.

The spin landed in between numbers, so it didn’t count… again.

When Elvira spun for the fifth and final time, she landed on 40, going over 100, meaning she was eliminated before Drew escorted her off of the stage.

After seeing the disaster play out during the episode that aired on May 10, fans stormed to X, formally Twitter, to share their thought on it.

One viewer @SeanBParsons wrote: “There was just a woman on The Price is Right who couldn’t spin the wheel a full rotation and after 4 times they gave up and asked her to leave hahaha!”

“Painful! Was their last spin even a full one? #thepriceisright #fail,” @PearlJamPat added, as fan @PearlJamPat agreed, saying: “Insanity! That was embarrassingly painful to watch! #fail #tpir.”

A fourth user @_deeez commented: “That’s epic. How do you go on the show and are told FOUR times to spin it properly and don’t! Crazy.”

Price Is Right’s Drew Carey gets manhandled once again by rough player

Price Is Right’s host Drew Carey has once again been manhandled by an overexcited, rough contestant after nearly being knocked down last week

The Price Is Right player celebrates after winning car

The Price Is Right’s host, Drew Carey, has once again been manhandled by an over-the-top contestant after nearly being knocked down several times last week.

During the Memorial Day episode of the hit CBS game show on May 26, player Steven excitedly jumped up and down and began shouting after he guessed the nearest retail price of a new TV.

When the player got to the stage, he gave Carey a massive hug that nearly knocked him over, and got even more rambunctious when announcer George Gray revealed he had the chance of winning a trip to Cozumel if he won a game of Flip Flop.

Flip Flop sees a contestant shown the wrong price of a prize, and they have to decide whether to interchange the first two digits, the last two digits, or both.

If the contestant forms the price of the prize, they wins the prize.

Steven switched the number to $7k and won.

As the beeper blinked indictating his win, the contestant jumped up and down and yelled again before jumping off the stage to give presenter James O’Halloran just as big a hug as the one he gave Carey moments before.

He then looked to the audience and began jumping with his arms pointed high above his head.

Since taking over for Bob Barker in 2007, Carey has seen and experienced it all, including being manhandled by contestants, even though fans have been concerned about him for months.

However, one from last week surprised him by nearly knocking him down several times.

During the May 21 episode, player Alexander got extremely excited when he guessed the nearest retail price of a fire pit and practically ran to the stage to give Carey a bear hug that pretty much turned into a headlock.

Price Is Right player and Drew Carey

He played an easy game of Side By Side to win a trip to Alaska and succeeded, only to jump up and down on Carey once again.

Carey joked: “Don’t go to Alaska,” before Alexander jumped on him a third time in excitement.

Thankfully for Carey and his back, Alexander failed to get into the Showcase round when he later spun on the wheel.

Fans of Price Is Right have been growing increasingly concerned for Carey’s wellbeing around rambunctious players for months.

On a Reddit board in March, they expressed their worry for Carey’s safety, agreeing that the contestants who fail to contain their excitement and jump on the host are too dangerous and need to be warned about their behavior prior to the show.

Price Is Right always encourages fans to be as energetic and excited as possible but the fans online think some have been too rough with the beloved game show host.

On the forum called No touchy, one fan wrote: “Before the show tapes, do they announce to the audience, if you make it on stage, do NOT hug, maul, pick up, get rough with Drew? Some of these contestants are too rough. They could accidentally hurt Drew.”

In the comments section, one responded: “Evidently they don’t because some of the women are all over him. One almost pushed him over and the woman today was crawling all over him.”

A second added: “Yeah, Drew isn’t exactly a spring chicken any more. I realize contestants are pumped up, but please don’t damage the host… or the models either.”

A third pointed out: “They show a hype video of people doing crazy things before you go into the studio, which inspires folks to be crazy. My pet peeve is being slow as hell to come down once called.”

A fourth mentioned: “If I remember right from when I went to a taping, they do say not to do it in a pre-show video and they have a montage of people knocking Drew and the models over with hugs.”

Yet another commented: “I’ve been getting worried about him lately. Some of these crazies are getting way too physical with him,” as another penned: “We were there in October and no one said that to us that I remember. But I agree they should! A few years ago Drew had a shoulder issue and I remember them saying something on air at the time about being careful to not hurt him.”

Another scared viewer added: “One day is going to be bad I can feel it… It’s crazy the adrenaline with these people lol they don’t know their own strength and will probably take him down.. he could break a hip.”

However, one person argued: “I think he likes it.”

Ronnie McDowell Issues First Statement Since On-Stage Stroke: ‘Love Y’all’

Ronnie McDowell had an upbeat message for fans in his first personal update since suffering a stroke onstage last month.

The “Older Women” star shared a video of himself doing his new exercise regimen, and while he was walking, he spoke a little bit about the medical incident and his healing journey.

“Yes, I had a stroke. I gotta get all this plaque cleared out here of my jugular,” he said, pointing to a spot on his neck.

“But you know what? I’m walking,” McDowell continued. “Yup. I’m doing my two-mile walk.”

McDowell also made it clear that his recovery isn’t keeping him off the road. He said that he’s got a sold-out show in Kentucky in the coming days, and he plans to come back to the VIP section to meet with his fans at that show.

“Love y’all,” he said at the end of the short video, flashing a big smile to the camera.

McDowell was in the middle of his set at Summer Solstice Festival in Oley, Pa., on June 21, when he began slurring his words and “not making sense,” according to his son and tour manager, Ronnie McDowell, Jr.
He was taken to a hospital in Reading, Pa., where it was confirmed that he had suffered a stroke.
Following the incident, McDowell, Jr. shared an update, saying that his father would need to undergo surgery to address the conditions that led to the stroke.
However, the singer was cleared to exercise and perform “in the next few days” after he was released from the hospital.

McDowell first rose to prominence in the late 1970s with a tribute song called “The King Is Gone” that he wrote after the death of Elvis Presley. The song became a hit on both country and pop charts.

In the ’80s, he had a string of Top 10 country hits, including “Older Women,” “You’re Gonna Ruin My Bad Reputation” and “All Tied Up.”

Most recently, McDowell appeared on one of the songs on Dolly Parton’s Rockstar album: A collaboration called “I Dreamed About Elvis,” also featuring vocals from Presley’s famed backing vocal group the Jordanaires.

Willie Nelson Cancels a Show After ‘Extreme’ Weather Wrecks Instruments

Willie Nelson has canceled his Tuesday (July 1) show in El Reno, Okla., after an “extreme weather event” damaged several pieces of gear and equipment required to put on his concert.

The event was part of the Outlaw Music Festival’s 10th Anniversary Concert, a traveling festival headlined by Nelson and his family band.

A rotating cast of artists has been joining him at the shows. Bob Dylan, the Mavericks and Tami Neilson were scheduled to be on the bill during Tuesday’s show, according to his tour calendar.

But in a social media statement posted on Monday (June 30), Nelson and his team announced that they’d suffered a freak weather event after the most recent show on the tour in Ridgedale, Mo., on Sunday night (June 29).

During that show, a storm “produced heavy rains and high winds forcing the crowd to evacuate,” the statement reads.

“Unfortunately, much of the Outlaw Music Festival’s equipment and artists’ instruments were damaged and waterlogged, making their condition difficult to assess in time to accurately and safely use for tomorrow’s show,” it continues. “The potential damage has halted the festival production as they recover and replace what’s necessary for the tour to resume.”

According to Rolling Stone, opening act Tami Nielson shared some more details about the Sunday night show in a since-expired Instagram Stories post. She stated that her set went on as planned that night, but Dylan and Nelson’s sets were canceled as evacuations began.

According to the statement, the Outlaw Music Festival’s 10th Anniversary Tour will resume on July 4 in Austin, Texas. Refunds for the canceled show in Oklahoma will be issued via ticketholders’ point of purchase.

In response to the news, some fans in the comments section of Nelson’s post worried that his beloved and famous guitar, Trigger, might have been among the instruments affected.

“The real question: Is Trigger okay?” one commenter worried.

Fortunately, it seems like Trigger was not harmed during the extreme weather event.

“Trigger is marked SAFE from the damage suffered to other instruments and equipment in the MO storm,” Nelson commented on the post.

“Young Sheldon” Fans Slam Show’s “Bizarre” Cameo Stunt as a Major Misstep!

“Young Sheldon” Fans Slam Show’s “Bizarre” Cameo Stunt as a Major Misstep!

Kaley Cuoco's Penny looks worried in The Big Bang Theory season 2

Although Young Sheldon pulled off a weird cameo trick to bring back one of The Big Bang Theory’s stars, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage can’t replicate this approach in season 2. From the title of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage onward, the show has always been closely linked with the story of Young Sheldon.

While Young Sheldon’s ending depicted Georgie and Mandy as a happy young couple navigating parenthood and marriage, The Big Bang Theory season 11, episode 23, “The Sibling Realignment,” saw Georgie’s older self reference an “ex-wife” in passing. Now, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage must somehow bridge the gap between these two divergent depictions.

In contrast, Young Sheldon was much less closely linked to the events of The Big Bang Theory. The sitcom franchise’s first spinoff was a prequel, whereas Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is a direct sequel to Young Sheldon that picks up where its predecessor left off. This makes it tougher for the new show to pull off one type of playful cameo seen in Young Sheldon.

Penny’s Actor Played The Talking Pool In Sheldon’s Nightmare

In Young Sheldon season 3, episode 10, “Teenager Soup and a Little Ball of Fib,” Sheldon claimed he was ill so he could avoid swimming in a school pool. Sheldon was horrified by the thought of taking a dip in water that was shared by dozens of other swimmers, resulting in a surreal nightmare sequence where sentient pool water spoke to him.

The pool tried to convince Sheldon to take a swim, telling him that it wasn’t as gross as he feared. Hilariously, Young Sheldon’s talking pool was voiced by The Big Bang Theory star Kaley Cuoco, who played Sheldon’s neighbor, nemesis, and eventual dear friend Penny. Like the talking pool, Penny was always trying to convince Sheldon to lighten up and try new things.

Cuoco voicing Sheldon’s fear years before he even met Penny was an ingenious gag, and it made sense that Sheldon’s subconscious would lend her voice to his nightmare’s projection of peer pressure.

Although Young Sheldon’s finale didn’t bring back Cuoco’s Penny onscreen, this moment was a fun nod to fans of the sitcom franchise. Cuoco voicing Sheldon’s fear years before he even met Penny was an ingenious gag, and it made sense that Sheldon’s subconscious would lend her voice to his nightmare’s projection of peer pressure.

After all, Penny’s attempts to get Sheldon out of his shell often involved getting him involved in group activities, social experiences, and even a romantic relationship. Penny wanted Sheldon to fit in more, and the pressure to attend swimming lessons despite his misgivings was another instance of the adolescent fearing the weight of unwelcome societal expectations.

Why Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Can’t Copy Young Sheldon’s TBBT Cameo Trick

Young Sheldon’s Spinoff Isn’t As Zany As Its Franchise Predecessor

Since this gag worked so well and bolstered the episode it appeared in, it seems obvious that Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage should repeat Young Sheldon’s cameo trick. Since Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage does change The Big Bang Theory’s canon from time to time, it wouldn’t be surprising for an original series star to play a new, unrelated character on the show.

Not only could Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 technically feature The Big Bang Theory cast cameos, but this wouldn’t even be the first time the show’s universe pulled this off. As well as Cuoco voicing the talking pool in “Teenager Soup and a Little Ball of Fibb,” Young Sheldon reused actors from The Big Bang Theory in other roles.

Famously, Lance Barber played Leonard’s bully before he became George Sr. in Young Sheldon.

Medford High School’s music teacher, Ms. Fenley, was played by Melissa Tang in Young Sheldon, who had previously played a colleague of Leonard’s in The Big Bang Theory. Famously, Lance Barber played Leonard’s bully before he became George Sr. in Young Sheldon and Althea Robinson played an impatient nurse in both shows.

Octavia Spencer played unrelated minor characters in Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory, namely a DMV clerk and Meemaw’s stern parole officer Rhonda. Meanwhile, Michael Trucco played Dr. Dave in The Big Bang Theory, while he was Mary’s imaginary romance novel star Rusty in Young Sheldon. Clearly, this was a recurring approach in the prequel’s casting.

However, although Young Sheldon’s story is closely linked to the plot of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, this doesn’t mean the series can simply copy this casting trick. The nature of some of the above cameos alone explains why. From Sheldon’s immersive nightmare to Mary’s fantasy story, Young Sheldon constantly drops viewers into the internal worlds of its heroes.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 can’t borrow Young Sheldon’s surprise comebacks because the spinoff has a more conventional, straightforward sitcom tone than its predecessor. The newer show is not prone to flights of fancy like Young Sheldon‘s talking pool nightmare, meaning any returning actors from The Big Bang Theory would need to play in-universe characters.

It is already strange that Sheldon never noticed the resemblance between Leonard’s bully and his father, or the striking similarities between his high school teacher and the woman Leonard cheated on Penny with.

This would be a lot weirder. It is already strange that Sheldon never noticed the resemblance between Leonard’s bully and his father, or the striking similarities between his high school teacher and the woman Leonard cheated on Penny with. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage’s traditional sitcom setup makes fantasy segues and nightmare sequences less common, thus limiting these casting opportunities.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Doesn’t Need Any The Big Bang Theory Cameo Anyway

The Spinoff Still Hasn’t Even Brought Back Sheldon Himself

Fortunately, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 doesn’t necessarily need this Young Sheldon casting trick. The show has fared fine without any comebacks from The Big Bang Theory stars in season 1, and even made it through a successful first season without bringing back Sheldon himself for a cameo.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 2 can’t avoid its biggest Young Sheldon cameo forever, but the fact that the show functions without Sheldon proves it wouldn’t necessarily benefit from appearances by minor stars of The Big Bang Theory. Whatever about anonymous voice cameos for the original show’s cast, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage‘s biggest priority should be finally getting Sheldon back.

While The Big Bang Theory’s focus shifted from Leonard to Sheldon over the years, the show always maintained a straightforward, traditional sitcom style. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage brought this back, thus limiting the show’s ability to pull off fantasy sequences like those found in Young Sheldon.

While this does mean that the spinoff can’t pull off the same type of hidden voice cameos as its predecessor, it also proves that the show doesn’t need to. Like The Big Bang TheoryGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage functions as an old-fashioned multicamera sitcom, meaning it doesn’t need Young Sheldon’s casting gags that shake the show’s fourth wall.
