Drew Carey’s Latest Joke Sparks Outrage, Leaving Fans Outraged and Social Media Ablaze!

‘Price Is Right’ Fans Roast Drew Carey After Joke Gone Bad

    Drew Carey | YouTube

Drew Carey was a comedian before he replaced Bob Barker as The Price is Right host. He had his own sitcom, and he has great comic timing. However, there are some fans who feel he is showing his age with some of his jokes and references on the popular game show.

Here is what he recently said on the show that has many fans rolling their eyes.

Drew Carey Misses With Joke On Price Is Right

Drew Carey loves to make quips when he is dealing with game show contestants. However, not all of his jokes hit every time. This happened in a recrent episode, and Drew realized immediately that his joke fell on mostly deaf ears.
    Drew CareyDrew Carey
A contestant named Ryan was playing The Money Game. His job was to guess numbers and figure out which numbers had the halves of the car behind them. He started out choosing “25,” and Drew struggled to find it. When he did, there was half of the car behind it.

This means Drew had four chances to find the other half. Ryan next chose “52.” Drew walked to the board and jokingly said, “Car 52, where are you?” He got mostly silence from the crowd and looked out and smiled. “No?” he asked as he waited for any laughter. He then found the panel and it was a dollar sign.

Ryan then chose “83,” and that had the final car half behind it. He won the car, running to it and celebrating.

Fans Blast Drew Carey For ‘Dated Joke’

The joke is simple. There was a TV show from 1961 that was called Car 54, Where Are You? It starred Fred Gwynne before he gained his most famous role on The Munsters. However, as most fans in attendance showed, this is a show and reference no one remembers anymore.

Drew Carey took it in stride, though. Fans took to the social media post of the moment and made some comments as well:

“Drew really aging himself with the car 52 where are you comment that nobody laughed at.”
    “Yeah, that was rough lol.”

It wasn’t Drew Carey’s fault that no one knows classic TV shows. Car 54, Where Are You ran for two seasons and 60 episodes and followed two NYPD officers who drove the titular Patrol Car 54. During its time on the air, it won one Primetime Emmy for directing and was nominated for three other Emmys.

It has aired in syndication on Nick at Nite, Ha!, and Decades.

Host Robin Roberts turned the attention to Vanna, 67, after asking Ryan, 49, about how he was preparing for the new role.

“Vanna, you have been on the show and in our hearts for 40 years,” Robin said.

“We went to the GMA archive, so take a look at this.”

Robin, 63, pointed to the screen as a young Vanna from 1985 appeared.

A GMA host asked, “Vanna, any other aspirations at the moment?”

“Not at the moment,” she replied.

“I’m going to be with Wheel of Fortune as long as it’s on.”

When the morning show flashed back to the present day, everyone clapped.

“And I’m still here!” Vanna shouted.

“And we’re so happy that you are,” Robin said.

In early September, Vanna also showed GMA the new changes that are coming to the Wheel letterboard.

She talked to meteorologist Ginger Zee about the “sleek new set.”

“I don’t even have to touch the letter anymore,” Vanna said, gesturing to the digital board.

    Wheel of Fortune must-know staff

Wheel of Fortune’s universe is more vast than fans realize. Here’s a look at the key staffmembers of America’s most iconic puzzle-based game show:

    Ryan Seacrest: host, 2024-present

    Vanna White: co-host, 1982-present

Maggie Sajak: social media correspondent, 2021-present

    Jim Thornton: announcer, 2011-present

Pat Sajak: host from 1981-2024, the newly-retired Pat still hosts Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and is now a supervising producer

    Bellamie Blackstone: executive producer, 2021-present

Steve Schwartz, supervising producer of over 30 years and now co-executive producer

Jimmy McGuire: Stage Manager and Jeopardy! Clue Crew alum (also Jeopardy!’s stage manager)

Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! famously share a studio lot and use the others’ set next door for practice games before players take the stage.

“This is a blank screen with a video on it, right?”

“There are lasers up there,” the hostess said, pointing to the top of the screen.

“So, when I go to touch the letter, it catches the movement of my hand, so it lights up.”

Vanna said it was crazy, and Ginger agreed, nodding her head.

Ginger wondered what was behind the wall.

Vanna told her that she would go behind the board to see her puzzles, usually on graphs.

    HERE TO STAY

Earlier this month, Vanna defended her decision to stay on the game show after Pat Sajak retired after 41 seasons.

In an interview with The New York Times, she admitted that she wasn’t quite ready to hang up her heels and “play golf every day.”

“Fortunately, I’m healthy, I’m active, and I can still walk in those six-inch heels, and I still wear those dresses,” Vanna told the outlet.

“Well, they’re not necessarily six inches – they feel like they’re six inches.”

Vanna will continue to co-host through the 2025-26 season.

Wheel of Fortune hostess Vanna White announced the death of her father, Herbert White Jr., in a heartbreaking post on her verified social media account last week.

“It is with great sadness that I tell you my 96 year old dad passed away peacefully this morning,” White posted alongside a photo of herself and her father. “He lived a full and happy life and will be remembered as one of the kindest and most wonderful human beings of North Myrtle Beach. I love you so much dad. RIP #love #bestdadever.”

Wheel of Fortune‘s verified Twitter account quote-tweeted White’s post with, “.@TheVannaWhite, we are thinking of you and your family during this difficult time. We love you. – Your Wheel of Fortune family,” shortly after the initial post was shared.\

Maggie Sajak, the daughter of longtime co-host Pat Sajak, commented, “I am so very sorry for your loss. My whole family is thinking of you,” on White’s Instagram post.

Daily Mail reports the longtime Wheel hostess was raised by Herbert White Jr. after her mother, Joan, and her biological father, Miguel Angel Rosich, separated when she was an infant.

Vanna took Herbert’s last name before initially achieving superstardom as the iconic Wheel of Fortune hostess in 1982, Grand Strand magazine reports.

Herbert White Jr. is listed as a “successful real estate agent broker/owner of White’s Realty” on his daughter’s IMDB page.

George Gray dished on his playful friendship with Drew Carey.

George Gray usually stays behind the scenes at The Price Is Right. He allows comedian Drew Carey to run the show. However, he admitted that he would like to swap positions for one day. Gray also playfully referred to Carey as his “work wife.”

    BTS Secrets

Fans are getting the behind-the-scenes details of the popular game show. In a new interview, Gray shared the secret ritual that he and co-host Carey have after filming wraps up for the week. But first, he was asked if he would make any changes to the daytime program. Gray likened it to a big family that jokes around with each other.

“No, I really like the way it is, and I do joke around all the time that Drew is my work wife,” Gray admitted, as quoted by The Express. “We see each other in the morning before we go on stage, and we’ll walk past each other like the old Wile E. Coyote cartoons from Warner Bros.”

Their pre-show prep involves impersonating the characters. “‘Morning, Sam, Martin, Ralph,’” Gray explained. “We’ll say that to each other. And then, we really chat for the first time.” The two are such close friends that they can’t stop talking between breaks. “Pretty much when we’re on stage, during the commercial breaks, Drew and I don’t leave the stage. He stays out there, takes questions, we goof off, have fun, and that’s when we will ask about how our weekends were,” Gray shared.

    Friday Feeling

Gary and Carey spend a lot of time together outside the show as well. By the time Friday rolls around, they have a night routine when filming concludes for the week.

The cast and crew will go out for dinner. “So, it’s just a very tight-knit family. We all get along eventually. Everybody hugs. We all say, ‘I love you,’” Gray said. “It really is a family. And so even if we’re exhausted, it’s, ‘I’ll see you tomorrow.’”

The cast and crew even go on trips. They’ve been to New York City and Las Vegas. Carey plans the trips. Gray called the co-host “amazing and generous” and noted that his energy “makes the family really tight.” What are your thoughts on these behind-the-scenes secrets? Does any of this surprise you? Happy’s Place Season 2 Gets Encouraging Filming Start Timeline From Showrunner Amid Reba’s Busy Schedule

Bobbie, Isabella and Emma in Happy's Place

On the heels of its season 1 finale, Happy’s Place season 2 gets an encouraging filming update. The NBC comedy, created by Kevin and Julie Abbott, follows Bobbie (portrayed by Reba McEntire) and her previously unknown half-sister, Isabella, who come to inherit a bar from their late father. Along with McEntire, the cast of Happy’s Place includes Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn, Pablo Castelblanco, Tokala Black Elk, and Belissa Escobedo as Isabella. Having garnered steady viewership and largely favorable reactions, the series was renewed for season 2 in February.

During an interview with ScreenRant for the Happy’s Place season 1 finale, Kevin Abbott revealed that, because of McEntire’s commitments to The Voice, pre-production on season 2 would likely begin in April. The showrunner confirmed that filming would occur in June and that “we have leftover ideas from what would’ve been season 1 that we didn’t get to.” Read his comments below:

So season 2, we’re actually starting up early. We’ll probably start pre-production mid-April because of Reba’s schedule on The Voice. We have to work around that. So we will start shooting again beginning of June. We do have leftover ideas from what would’ve been season 1 that we didn’t get to. So we definitely have those, and I’ll start up with the writers next week.

Abbott also explained that Happy’s Place season 2 will have more writers, who may bring their own suggestions, and that he will take free time “just to let my brain rest from living with these people.” He also has “a lot more energy” heading into season 2, and praises working with the show’s on-screen talent. Read the rest of Abbott’s comments:

We’ve got a couple of new writers coming on, so I want to be open to any ideas that they might have to take these characters places. And I’d like to take a week or two off just to let my brain rest from living with these people. They’re noisy. But I have a lot more energy for season 2 already than I would normally have at the end of a season. And really, this cast has been marvelous. It’s been a fun season doing this show with these guys.

What This Means For Happy’s Place Season 2

McEntire Is Crucial To The Series’ Success

Happy’s Place season 1 boasted impressive viewership numbers, likely attributed to McEntire and her broadcast comedy resume. Prior to the series, audiences were likely familiar with her long-running family sitcom Reba and a lot of anticipation was drummed up surrounding her reunion with former castmates, Peterman and Steve Howey. The ratings, highlighted by a relatively strong debut, suggest that McEntire could have another hit. Now, it’s worth wondering when Happy’s Place season 2 will release, as the show works around her schedule.

Happy's Place Emmett standing and looking confused

Throughout season 1, audiences watched as Bobbie and Isabella learned to cooperate while sharing ownership of the eponymous bar. Their relationship remains an engaging part of Happy’s Place and in the finale, titled “Alarm Bells,” Isabella managed to help Bobbie and Emmett (played by Linn) in their blossoming romance. With the season having ended around that storyline, future episodes could focus more on McEntire’s character being in love and potentially looking to Isabella for advice.

Our Take On The Happy’s Place Season 2 Update

Season 2 May Be Even More Entertaining

Belissa Escobedo as Isabella, Reba McEntire as Bobbie looking shocked in Happy's Place

Following the finale and recent comments from Abbott, it will be interesting to see what possible plot details from season 1 get added to upcoming episodes. With new storylines potentially being incorporated as well, even more entertaining scenarios may play out in Happy’s Place season 2. Having previously collaborated on Reba, Abbott and McEntire could turn the series into a success for NBC moving forward, and considering how involved McEntire is as co-star and executive producer, having the ability to adjust production to meet her busy schedule will be important.

Reveal Shifting Gears Season 2 PLANS for Matt and Eve, Riley and Gabe and a M.I.A. Family Member

EP Lays Out Season 2 Plans for Matt and Eve, Riley and Gabe and a M.I.A. Family Member

ABC‘s Shifting Gears ended Season 1 with a kiss… just not the one audiences might’ve anticipated.

During Wednesday’s finale, an inebriated (and newly single) Riley attempted to plant one on Gabe, but he resisted, explaining that, if they ever were to become more than friends, he would want it to happen at the “right time.” Meanwhile, back at her dance studio, Eve admitted that she dinged Matt’s car in an effort to get his attention, then locked lips with Riley’s dad — who, just a few weeks ago, was still overcome with grief surrounding the loss of his wife, Diane.

Though ABC has not yet committed to more Shifting Gears, a Season 2 renewal is a sure thing. So, rather than just ask series boss Michelle Nader to unpack the events of the finale, we also inquired about her plans for the next batch of episodes, presumably airing this fall. Her answers are as follows:

TVLINE | Now that Matt and Eve have kissed, is it safe to assume Jenna Elfman will be back in a big way in a hypothetical Season 2?

Yes to more Eve! We are so lucky to have Jenna in the show. And Eve and Matt are such unlikely animal friends. Their chemistry is very spicy so I am personally dying to see where this goes.

TVLINE | Having spent so much of this relatively short first season focused on Matt’s grief, was there ever any debate in the writers’ room about whether this kiss should have waited until Season 2?

I love this question. Yes! We weren’t sure if it was too soon. But that is from Matt’s perspective. Eve is on a different timeline. Hers. And she’s impulsive. So she went in for the kiss.

    Raymond Liu/Disney
TVLINE | How important was it that Eve be the one to make the first move?

It was always going to be Eve making the first move. She is not passive. She started to see a different side of Matt and from that point it was on.

TVLINE | Matt seems surprised by his reaction to the kiss. He clearly likes it! But does that necessarily mean that he’s ready to pursue something? How much of a question will that be in Season 2?

Matt was very in love with his wife and was in a relationship for his whole life. Dating another woman is going to be a hard for a guy like him. But yeah, he definitely is intrigued by Eve. How could he not be.

TVLINE | Beyond the whole “opposites attract” trope, what is it about Eve that you think makes her such a viable match for Matt?

They are seemingly opposites but they are both self-made business people with lots of integrity and strong core beliefs in what’s right and wrong. They are two sides of the same coin in some ways.
    Raymond Liu/Disney
TVLINE | Gabe had an opportunity to kiss Riley but knew it wasn’t the right time. Now that he knows that she’s interested as well, will he actively pursue a relationship with her in Season 2?

We are rooting for Riley and Gabe but timing is going to be the issue for them. I’ll leave it at that for now!

TVLINE | Riley and Jimmy are officially divorcing… but he did get that rental nearby. Can we anticipate that he will remain a part of her and the kids’ lives, post-divorce, and that we will see more of Lucas Neff moving forward?

Jimmy is touring with the Foo Fighters but he’s definitely still in love with Riley and wants to see his kids. We love Lucas so he would be a part of season 2.
    Raymond Liu/Disney
TVLINE | You have alluded to Matt and Diane’s son — Riley’s brother Sam — in multiple episodes. Is that a character you intend to introduce when the show (inevitably) returns?

We hope to introduce Sam in Season 2.  We think he will be another fun casting opportunity and a great character for everyone to complain to!

Shifting Gears Season 2 Could Introduce One Unseen But Important Character, Says EP

Tim Allen as Matt smiling next to Kat Dennings as Riley sitting in in Shifting Gears

Shifting Gears season 2 might introduce one character that hasn’t been seen yet but is still important, reveals executive producer Michelle Nader. The biggest idea tying the characters of Shifting Gears together is family, with the most obvious connection being Matt (Tim Allen) taking his daughter, Riley (Kat Dennings), and her children into his home. So far, the biggest character with familial connections to appear has been Jimmy (Lucas Neff), who is still trying to win back his ex-wife’s affections despite her decision to divorce him in the season finale.

Speaking with TVLine, however, Nader confirmed plans for Shifting Gears season 2 to introduce Sam, Matt’s son and Riley’s brother, who’s been mentioned throughout the sitcom. The executive producer explained what role he would have in the series, including what his interactions with his family and those around him would be like. Check out what Nader had to say about Sam’s possible introduction below:

What Sam’s Arrival Would Mean For Shifting Gears Season 2

Another Family Member Adding To The Comedy

Although Shifting Gears season 2 hasn’t been confirmed as of writing, the show has already laid the groundwork for an interesting follow-up. This includes Riley’s decision not only to divorce Jimmy, but also try to start a relationship with Gabriel (Seann William Scott), who wants to wait for the right time. Meanwhile, Matt discovers his business rival, Eve (Jenna Elfman), actually has feelings for him, kissing him in the season finale. With charged emotions already abuzz, Sam’s introduction could shake everything up even more.

Tim Allen in Last Man Standing and Shifting Gears

Not much is known about Sam outside of the several times he’s been mentioned throughout the show, meaning he can be a unique voice among the series’ established characters. Even though Shifting Gears‘ reception has been mixed, the show’s popularity emphasizes how a new face can continue its trend of offering new elements that shake up established ideas. This can especially be the case for season 2, since new relationships and conflicts have already been established. Sam’s involvement can be the perfect way of bolstering these ideas with a fresh perspective.

Our Take On Sam’s Introduction In Shifting Gears Season 2

It’s A Sensible Path For The Series To Take

    Shifting Gears imagery

What Sam’s exact role in the sitcom would be remains unknown, but his introduction can help expand the Parker family with new history and funny situations between him and Riley. Sibling interactions can help make Shifting Gears season 2 stand out, as their dynamic is bound to be different from the one she has with every other character in the show. Since the groundwork has already been laid for Sam to show up, it would be fitting for him to arrive as so many new life changes are happening for his father and sister.

One of the show’s significant strengths lies in its nuanced portrayal of Matt. He’s not simply heralded as a patriotic hero who’s always right; his views are consistently challenged, particularly by Dennings’ character, Riley, who proves to be a more than capable sparring partner. The two share an entertainingly feisty dynamic, bickering back and forth in a way that genuinely feels like a father and daughter. Allen even reveals a tender, more vulnerable side in scenes where Matt and Riley attempt to process the difficult death of her mother, adding emotional depth to the comedy.

So, when can fans expect more of this engaging dynamic? While an official premiere date has yet to be formally announced by ABC, based on typical production schedules and the network’s past rollout patterns, “Shifting Gears” Season 2 is most likely to be released in early to mid-2026, potentially around the same timeframe as its debut season. Fans should keep a close eye on official ABC announcements for the confirmed date.
