Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage Header

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage isn’t going anywhere. The Young Sheldon spinoff sequel series will remain on CBS’ schedule for the entire 2024-25 television season.

Per Deadline, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage has received a “Back 9” order, bringing its total Season 1 episode count up to 22. This shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to fans given that the freshman series managed to hold on to its premiere ratings in its second week. CBS is two for two with its new scripted series this fall, with the Kathy Bates-led Matlock also performing exceptionally well, so well that the network has already handed out a Season 2 renewal for the series.

While some Georgie & Mandy fans may be confused as to why CBS opted to renew Matlock while only ordering a full season of the Young Sheldon spinoff after both series had aired two episodes, there is a major factor that influenced the network’s decision. Georgie & Mandy was picked up this past spring and is still in production, making it possible to order more episodes beyond its initial 13-episode order.

On the contrary, Matlock was originally slated to premiere during the 2023-24 television season, so production on its freshman season was already completed. This means that a Season 2 renewal was the only feasible option for CBS.

“With the resounding success of The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon, we were instantly on board when Chuck, Steven and Steve brought us the idea to further explore this world through Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage,” said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment, in a statement. “The enthusiastic audience reception has demonstrated the enormous appeal of these characters and we can’t wait to see all of the hilarious fun this season will undoubtedly deliver.”

What Is Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage About?

Set after the events of Young Sheldon, the sitcom follows Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Emily Osment) as they raise their young family in Texas while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage. Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland created and executive produced Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, which also stars Rachel Bay Jones, Will Sasso, Dougie Baldwin, and Jesse Prez.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is the third installment in The Big Bang Theory franchise after the namesake series (2007-19) and Young Sheldon (2017-24). A fourth series, which will be set in the present day, is in development for Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max streaming service. Kevin Sussman, Brian Posehn, and Lauren Lapkus are on board to reprise their Big Bang Theory roles as Stuart Bloom, Bert Kibbler, and Denise, respectively. While plot details remain under wraps, the addition of both Sussman and Lapkus strongly hints that the spinoff may be set at Stuart’s comic book store, which is where both characters work.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Update Is More Bad News For Sheldon Return Hopes After Thanksgiving Disappointment

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage latest holiday update has more disappointing news following Sheldon Cooper’s non-participation in its Thanksgiving episode. The freshman comedy is the first spinoff of The Big Bang Theory not to feature Sheldon. It focuses on Georgie’s attempt to start his life with Mandy and their infant daughter following the death of Georgie’s father in the Young Sheldon finale. Most of the comedy comes from Georgie and Mandy’s attempts to navigate adult life, as well as their relationships with Mandy’s parents.

Although they are not main characters in the new series, several Young Sheldon characters have already returned to Georgie & Mandys First Marriage. However, Sheldon has not made any appearances yet, though he has been mentioned several times. Sheldon is away at school in California while the rest of the Coopers are still in Texas, so it makes sense that he is not a regular part of this spinoff series. However, the holidays are an exception, as he conceivably could have flown back for a visit while CalTech is closed.

Sheldon Won’t Be Returning To The Coopers For Christmas

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Will Not Be Airing A Christmas Episode

Sheldon standing on the CalTech campus wearing a bow tie and plaid shirt in Young Sheldon

Co-creator Steve Holland recently confirmed (via TVLine) that there won’t be a Christmas episode because it comes too close to Thanksgiving. Thus, there will be no opportunity for Sheldon to return for Christmas unless he does so off-screen and the family just talks about it later. However, that would be even more disappointing than an episode where he is a no-show, as it would reference Sheldon without giving the audience the opportunity to participate in his return.

Sheldon is smiling while Georgie and Mandy are laughing at Thanksgiving dinner in Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage

This update means that the biggest opportunity to bring Sheldon back passed without him returning. While this fits the narrative that Sheldon rarely returned home after he left for CalTech, it’s disappointing that he will not appear during either of the major holidays. Those are the only times when it would be feasible for him to visit, so it’s unlikely he will appear during the first season of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage now that the holidays are not an option.

How Long Can Georgie & Mandy Avoid Bringing Sheldon Back?

The Series Does Not Revolve Around Sheldon, But Should Include Him When It Is Able

Iain Armitage as Sheldon Cooper Looking at Missy in Young Sheldon

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is trying to establish itself. As the first show in the Big Bang Theory franchise not to feature Sheldon, it needs to be able to succeed without him, and thus bringing him back too early could be bad for the show. However, given that the rest of the Coopers have already appeared multiple times, it’s reasonable to expect that Sheldon will return at some point.

Sheldon interacting with Mandy’s equally strange brother, Connor, would be comedy gold.

It would be easier to bring Sheldon back than for Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage to create a return for George Sr. since Sheldon is alive and well in California. Additionally, Sheldon interacting with Mandy’s equally strange brother, Connor, would be comedy gold. Thus, hopefully George & Mandy’s First Marriage finds a way to bring Sheldon home for a visit without sacrificing the spinoff’s independence from its predecessor or allowing the boy genius’ presence to overshadow the title characters’ story.

Fans haven’t seen the last of Georgie and Mandy.

CBS renewed the Young Sheldon spinoff series following newlyweds Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) as they raise their daughter CeeCee in Texas for a second season, Deadline reported in February 2025.

Though an exact release date hasn’t been announced, the network confirmed that season 2 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage was slated for its 2025-26 season.

The multi-camera comedy premiered in October 2024, following the final season of The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon.

While Young Sheldon centered on the childhood of Sheldon Cooper — played by Iain Armitage as a kid and narrated by Jim Parsons, who originated the character in BBT — fans became invested in the turbulent relationship between Cooper’s older brother, Georgie, and aspiring weather reporter, Mandy.

When the couple met in Young Sheldon, Georgie and Mandy, who is 11 years his senior, both lied about their age. Their story took an even more unexpected turn when Mandy became pregnant. As the two navigated co-parenting, they fell in love and got married in the prequel’s final season.

Here’s everything to know about season 2 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage — and what it means for the future of the Big Bang Theory universe.

Yes, CBS renewed Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage for a second season in February 2025. Osment shared the news on Instagram with a screenshot of the Deadline piece and photos from the cast’s celebration on set.

“I love these people SO SO MUCH!!!!” she captioned a group photo with Jordan and Georgie & Mandy cast members Jessie Prez, Dougie Baldwin, Will Sasso and Rachel Bay Jones. “Thank YOU for watching and giving us the opportunity to tell this story for 22 more episodes. Here we go!”

Though CBS hasn’t confirmed the season 2 cast of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, fans can likely expect to see Osment and Jordan reprise their roles as the titular couple.

Bay Jones, who plays Mandy’s mom Audrey McAllister in the series, told TV Insider in May 2025 that she hopes to explore more of her character’s marriage to Mandy’s father, Jim (Sasso).

When asked who from the Young Sheldon universe she’d like to see in the upcoming season, she said she’s having a “really good time” with Zoe Perry and Annie Potts. Perry played Mary Cooper, Georgie and Sheldon’s mom; while Potts portrayed Connie “Meemaw” Tucker, their grandmother.

“I think the more we can get Lance Barber in there as [the spirit of] Georgie’s dad, in some kind of fashion, the better,” the actress said about the cameo Barber made in Georgie & Mandy’s first season.

Will Iain Armitage be in season 2 of Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage?

So far, Armitage has been absent from Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage. Though it hasn’t been confirmed or denied if he’ll reprise his role as Sheldon for the series’ second season, the show’s creators did say they’d love to have him in the future.

“We would love to [have Sheldon appear] if we found the right episode for Iain,” co-creator Steve Holland told TVLine in October 2024. “We love him, and he’s been super supportive … but we’re trying to establish this show and give it its own identity.”

He continued, “Sheldon is in California now, so if Sheldon is coming into the story, there has to be a bigger reason for it.”

“But we also know from Big Bang … that Sheldon didn’t come home a lot. He left and didn’t come [back] much, and Georgie was left to pick up the brunt of the family baggage,” Holland said.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage episode featuring Lance Barber has officially set a premiere date at CBS as the network makes way for “Typhoid Georgie,” airing Thursday, February 27th.

The episode, which will see Georgie (Montana Jordan) worrying about letting his family down when he’s forced to take time away from work while he’s sick with a cold, also follows Mandy as she stresses over how her career will affect her marriage. These storylines are teased in the first-look photos released by CBS for the episode, which don’t currently include Barber’s George Sr., who featured in the first Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon.

As previously reported, Barber will appear in the form of a dream sequence as the beloved character memorably died in the final episodes of Young Sheldon after suffering from a heart attack. “It was so much fun to have him back on the set, especially after killing him off on Young Sheldon,” executive producer Steve Holland shared during a virtual panel discussion.

“That was our apology,” Holland joked about Barber’s return. “Georgie’s thinking about his dad, and he’s sort of worried that his dad… might be disappointed in him and so he, his dad visits him in a dream.”

Only time will tell what that dream will look like in the episode, but for now, the first-look photos, below, offer a glimpse at sick Georgie’s predicament, some family bonding with his in-laws Audrey (Rachel Bay Jones), Jim (Will Sasso), and Connor (Dougie Baldwin), some sympathy from coworker Reggie (Jessie Prez), and the introduction of Casey Wilson‘s Beth to name a few.

‘Voice’ Fans Are Left Furious with Niall Horan After His “Sad” Move

He’s just taking a little break to go on tour, but left all of us in good hands.

Voice fans are usually talking about singer Niall Horan on social media because of his hilarious banter with the other three judges John LegendGwen Stefani and Reba McEntire, as well as his cheeky personality, but this week, the discussion isn’t as positive as in the past.

“The Voice” Coaches: Past and Present

Fans became confused and upset when the official Instagram account for NBC’s The Voice shared a clip of Niall telling his remaining team of nine that he would be stepping away from filming of Season 24 for a while because of his hectic touring schedule. “I’ve got a bit of news for you. Because of my concert schedule, I actually won’t be in town for knockout rehearsals,” Niall tells his team over video chat in the clip. “Because I won’t be there, I’ve chosen another coach to mentor you guys during your rehearsals. And it’s not just one coach. It’s two.”

The 30-year-old went on to announce that pop duo Dan + Shay would be stepping in for him since he couldn’t be there. Although the twosome is hardly underqualified, social media had a lot of mixed reactions to the surprising news.

This content is imported from instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site.

“What? Niall, why did you agree to do this season if you weren’t able to be here for all of it? Love you, but maybe it would have been better to have let someone else do it this time?”, one upset fan commented.”Saddest yet most exciting news I’ve ever heard?!?!? 🫶🫶🫶”, someone else wrote. “So Niall will not [be] on The Voice anymore?”, another disappointed fan said. A different person enthusiastically chimed in, “@danandshay are the absolute best! Let’s go! 🔥❤️.” Someone else, who was very upst, said, “Will @niallhoran be back for winning Night ? If not please advise cuz he’s the reason I’ve come back to the Voice ! Last minute bad news is not appreciated ! … Unprofessional to say the least !

With all the confusion, we’re here to tell Niall fans not to worry just yet! Although Niall will not be in most of the rehearsals for Knockouts, Dan + Shay are currently only considered “temporary” replacements for the time being since the One Direction alum will be back for the rest of Season 24. According to Soaps.com, he confirmed on his Instagram story on November 7 that he “only missed the knockout rehearsals, but returned to film the rest of knockout rounds themselves and the rest of The Voice Season 24 after his festival run.”

That said, Niall has confirmed that Season 24 will be his last due to his busy schedule, and Season 25 is when Dan + Shay will officially take over for the “Nice to Meet Ya” singer. They will be the first “duo coach pair.”

Reba McEntire’s Candid Confession on “The Voice” Role Leaves Fans Breathless and Admiration Soaring

Country music icon Reba McEntire, a figure synonymous with authenticity and heartfelt performances, has once again captivated her legions of fans with a surprising and remarkably candid admission about her journey to becoming a coach on NBC’s hit singing competition, “The Voice.” What many assumed was a natural progression for the seasoned superstar was, in fact, a decision she initially approached with significant apprehension.

Reba McEntire's Bold Admission About 'The Voice' Leaves Fans Breathless

The 70-year-old country legend, known for her incredible longevity and genuine connection with audiences, recently shared her reservations during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.

In a revelation that undoubtedly resonated with many, McEntire openly admitted that she “dreaded” the prospect of judging aspiring singers, disclosing that she had actually “passed” on the opportunity years ago when “The Voice” first made its way to the U.S. from Holland.

“I was really dreading it at first because I don’t want to tell anybody they suck,” McEntire explained with her characteristic down-to-earth charm. “I passed on it years ago… and I said, ‘I can’t tell somebody, you know, don’t give up your day job.’ I’m not gonna do that!” This powerful sentiment speaks volumes about her empathetic nature and her deep understanding of the vulnerability inherent in pursuing a dream in the highly competitive music industry. It highlights her respect for the contestants’ courage and her reluctance to be the bearer of harsh criticism.

However, as fans now know, McEntire eventually embraced the coaching role, joining for Season 24 in 2023. She shed light on how her approach, and that of her fellow coaches, made the experience more palatable for her. “The way we did it… it was more helpful and encouraging,” she noted, emphasizing the positive environment fostered on the show. “We’re nice people,” she added, underscoring the collective effort to “encourage” and “lift up the contestants” rather than tear them down. This philosophy clearly aligned with her personal values, ultimately allowing her to thrive in the coaching chair.

The Voice': Reba McEntire blown away with Linda Ronstadt cover

The news of Reba’s candid reflection comes just as anticipation builds for her continued presence on the show. “The Voice” officially announced via Instagram on May 12 that McEntire would indeed return as a coach for Season 28.

She will be reunited with her Season 27 colleague Michael Bublé, and welcomed back fan-favorite coaches Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg, who last appeared in Season 26. This dynamic new coaching panel promises an exciting and entertaining season.

“The Voice” Season 28 is currently slated to premiere later this year in the fall, and with Reba McEntire’s compassionate and encouraging coaching style now firmly established, her initial trepidation seems a distant memory.

Her honesty about her fears has only deepened the admiration of her fanbase, cementing her status not just as a country music legend, but as a genuinely kind and inspiring mentor. Fans can undoubtedly look forward to more heartfelt advice, incredible performances, and of course, plenty of “fancy” moments from Coach Reba.

The country crooner retired from The Voice in 2023

Blake Shelton’s newest album, For Recreational Use Only, has become the country star’s worst-performing album in his 24-year career.

The 48-year-old, who released his latest project in May, has seen the album debut at number 46 on the Billboard 200 charts, a far cry from his previous album Body Language, which peaked at 18.

For Recreational Use Only was not released by a major label, perhaps explaining why the album did not reach the numbers expected for the Grammy nominee.

Despite this result, it debuted at number six on the Top Album Sales chart and eight on the Top Country Albums list.

Blake does not seem to be phased by the album’s performance, instead sharing that he planned to spend the summer relaxing with his wife, Gwen Stefani, and her three children Kingston, 18, Zuma, 16, and Apollo, 11.

He revealed to People that he was “looking forward to the kids being out of school,” adding that the family “pretty much have [their] summers wide open.”

“We both have a few shows here and there, but nothing that’s tying us down to keep us from going and doing something fun,” he said. “We don’t have any plans, which is our favorite plan.” His wife Gwen joined him for a duet on his latest album, ten years after they met on the set of The Voice as judges.

Blake shared with the publication that the couple actually recorded two more duets for the album, but ultimately had to cut them. “We were both so fired up about both of them that we ended up holding one back for the next project,” he said.

“I did that for 23 seasons. To be totally honest about it, I wasn’t even planning on being there that long,” he said on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

“I was planning on wrapping it up about 20 seasons or 21 seasons. Then COVID hit and I didn’t want to walk out on the show.” He added: “I stayed a little bit longer. I stayed too long for me to now miss it; I promise you that.”

Blake later shared with People how being on the show led him to burn out due to the intense schedule. “It took about a year before I even was open to the idea of, ‘What’s next?’” he told the publication.

He added that it had taken time to get to a place where he didn’t care about chart numbers or album sales. “After 25 years of doing this, and the ups and downs, I don’t feel like I have anything to prove anymore,” Blake said.

“I used to be almost afraid of my success because I was afraid of losing it somehow. Maybe the worry kept me working hard and focused – but now it’s just fun for me.”

Blake Shelton Surprises Craig Morgan on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show'

A Tragic Loss Inspires a Healing Song

In July 2016, country music artist Craig Morgan faced an unimaginable tragedy: the sudden loss of his 19-year-old son, Jerry Greer, in a heartbreaking tubing accident on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee. Overwhelmed by grief, Craig found solace in a moment he describes as divinely inspired. Awaking at 2:30 a.m., he was struck by a melody and a full chorus that would become “The Father, My Son, and the Holy Ghost” — a tribute that encapsulates love, loss, faith, and the unbreakable bond between a father and son.

A Song Shared with the World

Craig first introduced the song at the Grand Ole Opry in July 2019, initially viewing it as a personal moment of closure. However, country legend Ricky Skaggs, who was watching backstage, encouraged Craig to continue performing and sharing the song. Shortly after, Craig released it on iTunes, unaware that it would resonate widely as an anthem for those experiencing grief.

Craig responded with heartfelt appreciation, stating, “Blake Shelton, you are an awesome friend and champion for country music. We love ya, and I cannot thank you enough.”

Fans know Kelly Clarkson always looks put together on her daytime talk show every weekday. But what about the days when she’s not on the air? Turns out, she’s just like us — and folks are thanking her for it.

On June 7, The Kelly Clarkson Show host decided to take fans behind the scenes when it came to creating the outfits she wears while on camera. Posting a video on the show’s official TikTok, folks met Kelly’s stylist Micaela Erlanger, and they also got to see a different side to her everyday beauty routine.

As the clip depicted how Kelly and Micaela come up with her on-set wardrobe, folks got to see the American Idol winner go bare-faced for the majority of the clothing fittings. What’s more, even with over two decades working in Hollywood, it was clear how comfortable she was with allowing her followers to see her makeup-free.

When the snippet of Kelly’s understated beauty look began to go viral online, fans couldn’t help but voice just how much they enjoyed seeing her without a stitch of makeup.

“When she walked in without makeup she looked so normal and down to earth. Thanks for showing your true self Kelly!” one person wrote in the comments. “Kelly looks incredible with no makeup,” another agreed. “Love you Kelly! You’re beautiful with and without makeup! 🤩,” a different follower added.

We so love seeing Kelly this uninhibited, and we need to get all of her skincare secrets after seeing this! But as fans may remember, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen her take a natural approach by wearing no makeup on camera this year.

Back in March, Kelly went bare-faced when she appeared as a guest on the Not Gonna Lie With Kylie Kelce podcast. Wearing a sweatshirt and baseball cap over her blonde hair, the musician got to voice her opinions on life all while quietly displaying her true feelings about beauty.

If only we all had the confidence to do what Kelly does with no makeup!
