American Idol’s Carrie Underwood Shares How She Navigates Social Media Criticism

Carrie Underwood exclusively shared with E! News her Joe Rogan-approved way of navigating hate online—and her advice to the current hopefuls on American Idol season 23.

Don’t expect to find Carrie Underwood crying pretty over online hate.

Carrie Underwood Worries She's "Coming Across Mean" On American Idol Amid Signs Producers Are Doing Damage Control After Lackluster Debut

After all, the American Idol judge lives by the motto “post and ghost,” freely sharing her life on social media but ignoring any negative comments that may come her way.

“I stole that from Joe Rogan,” Carrie exclusively told E! News. “It’s really important when you think about social media that you realize it’s not the real world.” (To see her full interview, tune in tonight, April 29, at 11 p.m.)

She continued, “It took me a long time to realize that, and a long time to be secure enough in myself to be like, ‘Do I care if somebody doesn’t like my hair today, or this thing I sang or how I sang it? I don’t.’”

Besides, the “Before He Cheats” singer noted, “I got a lot going on in my life.”

“I’m 42 years old. I’ve got two kids I’m trying to raise to be good humans,” said Carrie, who shares sons Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, 6, with husband Mike Fisher. “I’m just out there doing the best I can, so if I want to post something, I’m just going to do it and leave it there.”

And that’s the lesson she wants to impart on the current hopefuls on American Idol‘s 23rd season.

“I’ve had this conversation with lots of people over the years,” Carrie—who won the singing competition two decades ago—shared, explaining how she’s spoken to “lots of young artists” who get hung up on online backlash.

Her advice? Take a step back and realize “everybody’s not saying that.”

Looking back at her own run on American Idol, Carrie felt “so naive” to the spotlight.

“Being on the show when I was 22 years old, every single week was like, ‘Do or die, now or never,’” she recalled. “I felt grateful that I even got the opportunity to get to be on the show, and I still feel like that now. I do get nervous for the hopefuls.”

Carrie added, “I do want everybody to win, but alas.”

Dolly Parton Reveals Why She’s Rejected ‘American Idol’ & ‘The Voice’ Offers

Singer Dolly Parton has a reasons she’s never been a judge or coach on the popular singing competition shows, American Idol and The Voice.

While speaking to E! News in a May 8 interview, Parton said she rejected offers to be an American Idol judge and a coach on The Voice because she doesn’t want to crush the spirits of the competitors.

Why Dolly Parton Keeps Saying No to 'The Voice' and 'American Idol'

“I’ve been asked to do that a lot of times. It’s too hard for me. That’s why I don’t accept it, because I know how sincere everybody is. Even if they’re not that good, they believe they are. And I just can’t hurt people,” said Parton to the publication.

According to E! News, Parton has helped American Idol and The Voice competitors as a guest mentor throughout the years.

In a May 2025 interview on The TODAY Show, Parton opened up about her interactions with fans. She noted that she will ride through her amusement park, Dollywood, located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, to wave at her fans. She referenced a recent viral video that featured a little boy showing his extreme excitement when she acknowledged him during the Dollywood parade.

“I just wanted to get off that cart and just squeeze him. It’s just great. I ride through the park, every day that I can, that I’m up here, in the afternoon. Just getting to see the reaction. And feeling all that love,” said Parton during the interview.

She also said she had an emotional reaction following that parade because she was mourning the loss of her late husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025.

“I got very emotional after the parade. Because there was so much love, like that. And it was right after I had lost Carl. And I was just so bottled up with emotion. And i just got in the van and just boohooed for the longest time,” said Parton.

Parton said that she is going through an adjustment period following the loss of Dean.

“We’ve been together 60 years. Since I was 18 years old. And it’s a big adjustment just trying to change patterns and habits. [But] I’m fine. And I’m very involved in my work,” said Parton on The TODAY Show.

Parton also expressed gratitude to those who showered her with support after Dean’s death.

“I’m so thankful. I got so many cards, flowers. From all the world,” said Parton.

The country superstar, 70, opened up on Late Night with Seth Meyers about her reasons she initially didn’t want to be a coach on The Voice and revealed she previously “passed” on the opportunity before she joined for season 24 in 2023.

“I was really dreading it at first because I don’t want to tell anybody they suck,” McEntire explained. “I passed on it years ago when it first came over from Holland, and I said, ‘I can’t tell somebody, you know, don’t give up your day job.’ I’m not gonna do that!”

McEntire also opened up about how she and the other judges approached coaching on the singing competition the first time and noted “the way we did it… it was more helpful and encouraging.”

“We’re nice people,” she said. “We encourage. We lift up [the contestants].”

The Voice also announced that McEntire would return as a coach for season 28 on Instagram on May 12.

She will be joined by her fellow season 27 coach Michael Bublé along with series favorites Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg returning after they last coached back on season 26.

The Voice season 28 is set to premiere later this year in the fall.

Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage has been able to bring back many Young Sheldon alums — except for country music icon Reba McEntire.

While speaking exclusively to Us Weekly at CBS Fest, Montana Jordan noted that their sitcom “had just about everybody” from Young Sheldon “except for” Iain Armitage, who played the titular role.

“But we’ll bring Reba McEntire back. Get her over here!” Jordan, 22, suggested, to which Emily Osment replied, “Oh, I would love to see Reba.”

After receiving a renewal for Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage following their debut season, Jordan and Osment, 33, couldn’t be more excited about continuing their story.

Which Georgie Mandy First Marriage Stars Are New Characters

“When you get on a show like this and everybody’s so kind [is the best part]. At the end of the day, it’s like a family,” Jordan told Us. “When you go into work and it’s like a family, you have a ball and you have a blast. It doesn’t even feel like work at the end of the day. So that’s really great.”

The Big Bang Theory created a franchise when the OG show aired from 2007 to 2019. It starred Jim Parsons — as adult Sheldon Cooper — as well as Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch as a group of friends made up of physicists and their significant others.

Following a successful CBS run, The Big Bang Theory branched off with a prequel series starring Armitage, 16, in the role of Sheldon when he was a child prodigy growing up in Texas. McEntire, 70, for her part, played a hairstylist named June. The universe got even bigger with Sheldon’s older brother, Georgie (Jordan), scoring a spinoff with Mandy (Osment).

“We didn’t want to take away from the ending of Young Sheldon,” Jordan told Us exclusively in October 2024 about properly ending Young Sheldon before shifting focus. “For seven years we were on Young Sheldon, and we didn’t want to just short America by just getting rid of it and going to this new show. So we took our time and finished filming that.”

Jordan was excited to have a built-in fan base while still capturing the attention of new viewers, adding, “You can watch Young Sheldon without knowing anything about The Big Bang Theory. And I believe you can watch this new show without watching Young Sheldon. It’s a new start. We’re starting a new thing and you get to follow Georgie and Mandy as they go through all these trials and errors in life. It’s a very relatable topic and everybody knows about it and it’s not a secret.”

Young Sheldon Cast Then and Now

At the time, Jordan also addressed the age gap between Georgie and Mandy. (After meeting during season 5 of The Big Bang Theory prequel, Georgie, who was 17 at the time, lied that he was 21, while 29-year-old Mandy pretended to be 25.)

“It gives Georgie somewhere to go,” Jordan noted. “In this new show, Georgie finally gets to show that he’s not just this dumb kid. He actually does have a brain on him. And on Young Sheldon, I’m sure he got overlooked a lot. Maybe him being the tire king is his way of showing and proving people that he is not this dumb kid [but a mature adult]. He actually has some brains on him.”

Despite Georgie turning 20 in the first season, the quips keep coming and Osment even shared some of her favorite, telling Us at CBS Fest, “Jokes about how old I am, how youthful Montana [Jordan] is and how he’s got so much more life ahead of him than I do.”

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage airs on CBS Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET.

‘The Price Is Right’ Revamps Plinko With a “Golden” New Twist

    This-Is-the-Most-Expensive-Prize-on-‘The-Price-Is-Right’

One of the most famous The Price Is Right games, has added a new twist that has both fans and contestants raving. The American game show The Price Is Right is centered around contestants pricing grocery products and merchandise to win money. Some popular games on the CBS show include, Double Prices, Pay the Rent, Lunch-Bunch, and so much more. Over the years, some contestants like Cynthia Azevedo left a lasting impression on the longest running television game show by winning a million dollars in 8 seconds on the Clock Game. Meanwhile, other constraints like Corey exhibited huge failures, such as guessing that a hammock was worth about $7000.

While some games are a little more difficult to win at, there’s one game that seems to be almost everyone’s favorite and generally puts a little money in players’ pockets: Plinko. Plinko is the most popular game on the show, but it didn’t air in the series until 1983. Since then, it’s become the most widely recognized game on The Price Is Right. Its simple, yet strategic rules have allowed many contestants the opportunity of winning a few extra bucks. However, it’s a little over 40 years since the beloved game hit TV screens and the CBS crew has now up the ante with a new twist.

Plinko Is a Simple Yet Fun Game

The beloved Plinko game is simple yet effective, making it one of the best contests in the series. Most of the other games on The Price Is Right include guessing or a little more skill. So having some background knowledge of groceries, electronics, and the prices of other traditional household products is often helpful. However, Plinko is more of a strategy and statistics game. In Plinko, contestants are given a handful of balls or chips to play.

Bob Barker on 'The Price Is Right'

In some cases, they can earn more chips throughout the rest of The Price Is Right games. Then they head over to the Plinko board, which consists of pegs and slots with monetary values at the bottom. The contestants release the chips at the top of the board, they fall down, bouncing against the pegs, until they land on a monetary value at the bottom. Of course, most contestants’ goals are to hit the largest valued slot in the middle, but as long as the ball doesn’t fall into one of the two $0 spots, then contestants walk away with some change.

‘The Price Is Right’s Plinko Has a New Twist

The Plinko game was already a popular and well respected game, but now The Price Is Right has upped the scales. The premise of the game is still the same. Contestants have to strategically place the ball or chip to get it to land on the monetary value of their choosing. On a episode last month on The Price is Right, host Drew Carey explained to contestant Michelle the recent changes to Plinko. “You can win four more chips, but tonight we have a special twist to the game,” the host said. “One of the prizes has a special Golden Plinko chip attached to it. And if you get the gold Plinko chip, wherever [it] drops, we’re gonna times whatever it lands on by ten.” Meaning if the new golden chip lands in the $20,000 spot, the contestant will win $200,000 instead.

This new twist excites both contestants and fans. Sometimes, watching the same games over and over again can get boring and repetitive, even with the all-time favorites like Plinko or Stack the Deck. However, this twist adds a new spice to the game, making it more interesting for viewers to watch. At the same time, contestants have an opportunity to bring home even more money by playing an all-time favorite and simple game on the show.

In the end, the added golden chip is an interesting twist to the traditional Plinko game. Unfortunately though, it seems that, multiples might be a temporary change. In general, the golden chip is only used for a limited time as a promotional campaign to elicit more excitement or bring more awareness to a special episode, which it certainly did. Unfortunately though, The Price Is Right hasn’t announced how long the golden chip will be available and, since it’s a promotional aspect of the game show, it might not stick around forever. However, many fans hope the popular game show will keep the new and improved Plinko game for the long term.

The Price Is Right is available to stream on Paramount Plus.

Drew Carey is usually full of energy and has a knack for making witty comments at the right moment to keep “The Price is Right” viewers engaged. While hosting the longest-running game show is no easy feat, Carey has made it look easy for nearly two decades now. However, age seems to be catching up with the host, who went blank during an episode, and the contestant’s reaction to that made the moment viral.

In the episode from 2024, a contestant named Barbara a.k.a “Barbie,” made her way to the stage after winning the “Contestant’s Row” round. To add to her delight, announcer George Gray revealed that she would be playing the popular “Pocket Change” game with a brand new electric car on the line. In the game, contestants play for a car with a price tag of 25 cents, which they have to earn. At the beginning, the board shows the first digit of the actual retail price of the car and the following five digits are missing. The player has to guess the remaining digits.
Screenshot showing the set up for the game Screenshot showing the set up for the game (Image source: YouTube/
    Triniswagg92 Beastmode)
Contestants need to choose a number from the given set, one by one to land on the correct price. With each correct guess, the players pick a card from the board which may have a dollar amount from anywhere between 0 to $2. On the other hand with each incorrect guess, the price of the car goes up by 25 cents, and the players need to guess again. Thus, the goal is to correctly guess the order of the digits, without raising the price of the car too much and earn enough money to afford it in the end.

For Barbie’s game, the prize was a brand-new Chevrolet electric car. She was given the first digit of the price as 2 and 9,0,8,6,5 to choose from for the following spaces. For her first guess, she picked “8” which was bang on the target.

She did so well that even Carey was startled. The host even forgot that he was supposed to ask Barbie to get a card from the board before the next guess. It was Barbie who reminded him that she needed to get a card before moving on to the next number. The host obliged and the player rolled her eyes as she walked over to get the card. “You weren’t gonna let me have a card, were you?” Barbie said as she returned.

The host apologized and admitted that he “almost forgot” the proceedings. “You were doing so well that I……um blanked!” Recovering from the minor hiccup, the two went on to play the game smoothly. Barbie guessed a few more digits right before getting the first one wrong. In the end, she got another guess wrong and raised the price of the car to 75 cents.

However, she had won four cards as well to help her afford it. While the player’s first card added only 5 cents to her balance of 25 cents, her second card added a whopping 50 cents winning her the brand-new EV.

Many Fox News viewers were furious on Tuesday night (February 11) after Greg Gutfeld‘s eponymous nightly show was bumped off the air for breaking news coverage.

Gutfeld!, which airs at 10 pm ET on weeknights, was pulled at the last minute on Tuesday night due to breaking news coverage of an American hostage release. Instead, Sean Hannity covered the news of American schoolteacher Marc Fogel returning to Washington and meeting with President Donald Trump following his release from a Russian prison.

Fogel was arrested in August 2021 by Russian authorities for trying to enter the country with 17 grams of medical marijuana. He was later sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Gutfeld announced that his show wouldn’t be airing less than an hour before it was supposed to come on air. Taking to X, he wrote, “Gutfeld! will not air tonight due to breaking news coverage. For the latest, stay tuned to @FoxNews.”

A lot of viewers were frustrated with the news and took to social media to air their grievances, with one X user writing, “I know getting an American hostage back is FABULOUS NEWS but STOP with the repeat, repeat, repeat of Hannity. Put the DAMN GUTFELD SHOW ON ALREADY!!!”

Another felt similar frustration over Hannity taking over Gutfeld’s slot, stating, “Hey @seanhannity, Could you please shut up and let gutfeld show run? You ass! Every time. SMH. Fox is starting to really suck.”

“What the hell is Fox doing running an extra hour of Hannity? Nothing that can’t wait until tomorrow. I stay up and look forward to Gutfeld every night. It really pisses me off when the same news I listened to all day is again talked about,” said another. “Gregg, you should raise hell especially when your show was taped much earlier.”

“@FoxNews stop preempting Gutfeld! For extra time with your worst show. This is not breaking news and Hannity sucks,” added another.

“JFC why do they ALWAYS take @Gutfeldfox off the air when stuff is happening?? I don’t want another damn hour of Hannity. I want my nightly fix of Gutfeld,” one fan wrote.

Another added, “Gutfeld should not be removed unless the world is ending. It’s the only reason I watch Fox this late.”

“I do not think this justifies 2 hours of Hannity @FoxNews I know it is good stuff, but @Gutfeldfox please,” said another.

“One hostage being released does not necessitate a full hour of “special coverage”. Fox News apparently doesn’t understand that Gutfeld is their most popular show and that people tune in at 10 o’clock to watch that, not repetitive “breaking news,”” added one commenter.

Another wrote, “Enough of this crap, Fox. Put Gutfeld show on another channel if you’re going to preempt him every damned night. We can get breaking news anywhere, and you repeat the same talking points or speculation for hour after hour.”

“Fox News, please stop pre-empting your best show, Gutfeld! with shows that can be shown an hour later anyway. Give us our funny, we already heard this news 4 hours ago,” said another.

‘The Price is Right’ Contestant Falls to the Floor After Winning $100,000 on 10,000th Episode

    Sonja Flemming / CBS

The Price is Right contestant fell to his knees after winning $100,000 on the game show. On Wednesday, February 26, yubi, the game show celebrated 10,000 episodes by having super-sized prizes and a super-sized cake. Games that normally would give away $1,000 were giving away $10,000. Others had the chance to win $90,000 and $100,000.

Ryan Digman wore a yellow shirt that read, “I am a dad on a mission to spin the wheel,” referring to the show’s big wheel to get to the Showcase. The contestant told The Los Angeles Times that his eight-year-old son, Nick, has autism and he learned some of his first words by watching The Price is Right. He had a photo of Nick printed on his shirt for good luck. He got that chance and then some. Digman was one of the first four contestants to “come on down” and bid on a VR headset.

He got to come to the stage to play Grande Game, where he had the chance to win $100,000. Normally in this game, contestants have the chance to win up to $10,000 by picking products that are under a certain price. They are shown six grocery items, four of which are priced below the target price, and two are priced above it.

The contestant must select the items that they believe are below the target price. If they are correct, they continue the game and win $1,000. They can choose to keep the money or risk it and pick the remaining product that does not exceed the target price. If they are correct, they win $10,000. In this case, Digman won $100,000.

Digman was so stunned that he burst into tears and dropped to the floor. The crowd went ballistic for him. Host Drew Carey leaned down to console him, grabbing his hand.

However, during the Showcase Showdown, Ryan went over 100 and did not get to advance to the Showcase Round.

Social media users also went wild for Digman’s win.
