‘Jeopardy!’ Fans React After Stunning Game Leaves Ken Jennings ‘Hyped’

'Jeopardy!' contestants (from left) Yasmine Mitchell, Vickie Talvola, and Prasad Patil, on September 26, 2025

    Spoiler Alert

    CBS

[Warning: The following post contains MAJOR spoilers for the Friday, September 26, episode of Jeopardy!]

Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings was “hyped” at the end of Double Jeopardy in a game that was a thriller for the ages, the best of the young season so far.

Vickie Talvola, from Jersey City, New Jersey, played against Yasmine Mitchell, from Sunnyvale, California, and Prasad Patil, from Burlington, Massachusetts, on Friday, September 26. Talvola had a one-day total of $26,407 after beating four-day champion Steven Olson the day prior.

The beginning of the first round was a pretty even playing field for all of the contestants. Talvola, a quantitative trader, found the Daily Double with the lead at $3,600. She made it a true Daily Double for “Which -Verse Are We In?” The clue read, “Unable to serve in the military due to poor eyesight, he glorified American warriors in the Ryanverse.”

She hesitated until Ken Jennings prompted her to answer. “Who is Clancy?” Talvola said. She was correct and doubled up to $7,200. Talvola had $7,800 by the first commercial break, with a lead of $5,000.

Talvola kept the lead by the end of the round with $9,800. Patil, an assistant professor of biostatistics, was in second place with $4,000. Mitchell, a software engineer, wasn’t far behind with $3,200.

In Double Jeopardy, Patil took the lead in the beginning, but Talvola quickly caught up. With her lead of $15,000, compared to Patil’s $12,000, she found the first DD. Talvola wagered $6,000 in “Lonely Island.” The clue was “Now lightly populated, Delos in the Cyclades was once a hub of activity and also the supposed birthplace of this god.” Talvola hesitated before answering, “Who is Apollo?” She was correct and moved up to $21,000.

Patil found the last DD towards the end of the round. He was in second place with $14,800 and wagered $10,000. In “Cover Me,” the clue read, “Built in the 1st C., it had a big retractable awning called a velarium, that shielded its audience of 50,000 from the sun.” “What is the Colosseum?” Patil answered, which was correct. He took the lead with $24,800, only $600 above Talvola.

However, only three clues later, Talvola took back the lead. On the last clue, Talvola and Patil fought for first place. When Talvola rang in, Ken Jennings yelled her name. The clue in “I’m on a Boat,” read, “What?! A possible warrant for bank robbery coming for a passenger– Phileas Fogg? That’s life on the Steamer Mognolia in this book for ya.”

“What is Around the World in 80 Days?” she answered. “Is correct!” Jennings yelled. Talvola took the lead with $25,800, which was only $200 above Patil at $25,600. Mitchell had $7,600.

“What a finish! This thing could not be closer, so it all depends on the category,” Jennings said.

The category for Final Jeopardy was “Scientists.” The clue read, “Joseph Lister said there was not ‘an individual to whom medical science owes more to’ than this man, feted at the Sorbonne in 1892.”

All three contestants answered correctly with “Who is Louis Pasteur?” so it all came down to wagers for Patil and Talvola. Mitchell wagered $5,000, giving her $12,600. Patil wagered $10,000, making his final total $35,600. Talvola only wagered $150, giving her a final total of $25,950. Patil became the new champion and will return for game two on Monday.

Fans reacted to the game and Jennings’ reaction. “Ken was HYPED at the end of DJ, what a game,” a Reddit user said.

“What a wild episode! I hope to see Vickie back as a fan favorite,” another wrote.

“But, why only $150?” a third asked, to which another replied, “I was shocked.”

“I was so disappointed. It felt like she didn’t back herself at the end,” replied another.

Steve Harvey is used to absurd answers and questions poking fun at him on “Family Feud,” but sometimes, he also gets heartwarming comments from contestants. On one occasion, a contestant named Lydia took things a little too far when she called Harvey ‘darling,’ after continuously flirting with Harvey. While the host played along cheerfully at the start, he later warned the player that she was getting herself into a situation that she may not be able to handle.

The question for the game was, “We asked 100 women, fill in the Steve Harvey moved in next door. I’m gonna go over and ask to borrow what?” Leslie hit the buzzer first and answered with “a cup of sugar,” which was on the board. The turn then passed on to Jill, who came up with “a jacket.” With this, the Randles chose to play, and no one was more excited than Lydia as Harvey made his way to her, saying, “Here I come, girl, I couldn’t wait to get over here.”
Screenshot showing Lydia smiling (Image source: YouTube/Family Feud)Screenshot showing Lydia smiling (Image source: YouTube/Family Feud)
Lydia kept the good vibes going by coming up with a popular answer, “a car.” The turn then passed on to the other members of the team, who kept trying to get the top answers. While some of them succeeded, two of them failed, putting up two strikes on the board. The trun then circled back to Lydia, who was once again excited to see Harvey come to her for another response. Despite the added pressure, Lydia didn’t miss a beat while flirting with the host. As Harvey walked up and said, “You gotta be careful, Lydia. You can’t think of nothin’, can you?”

The plater said, “I can, darlin’,” in response. While Harvey was playing along, it got a little too much for him. “You’d better watch yourself. Call me ‘Darlin’ one more time and see what happens to you!” he joked. However, Lydia didn’t back down and went on to call the host darling again. “You gonna mess and wind up,  and have yourself in a situation!” Harvey warned the player. “I’m a situation specialist, though, so we’re good,” she said in response. “You might not be able to handle the potential situation, though, Lydia!” Harvey said in the end, to conclude the banter.

Lydia then told Harvey she would like to borrow his “Personal chef” if he moved in next door, but the answer wasn’t a popular one in the survey. With this, the turn passed on to the Shavitz family, who had to come up with a popular answer to steal all the points. Taking the charge, Jeff took to the mic to say his team’s answer, “Liquor.”

Unfortunately for Lydia and her team, the answer showed up on the board, and the Shavitz family stole all the points from the Randles family. Harvey then revealed the remaining answers, which included “Him! Yum!” and “Tools”.

What sets “The Price is Right” apart from other game shows is the infectious enthusiasm and energy that its contestants bring along. One contestant who was high on adrenaline after being asked to ‘come on down’ by George Gray was a woman named Fredwayna Hawkins. She was a bundle of energy from the moment that her name was called. However, before running, she took some time to show off her twerking skills, much to the delight of the fans in the studio.

Her energy was infectious, and even host Drew Carey said, “Back it up,” as she danced her way from her seat. This was not the highlight moment for the contestant as things only got better. Fredwayna won her way to be on the stage and twerked in front of the host in her excitement. He could not help but join in on dancing as he put his arms up and moved his body a little bit.

Screenshots showing the contestant and Drew Carey on Screenshots showing the contestant and Drew Carey on “The Price is Right” (Image source: YouTube | priceisright)
Fredwayna was playing the game Bonkers for a chance to win an outdoor kitchen island. Things were going well for the contestant, and it got even better. She was able to win the game in the nick of time, which earned her the prize. This time, in her excitement, she lay down on the floor, hugged Carey and spun him around, and ran straight to her prize.

She was also a part of Showcase, and her energy levels showed no signs of dropping. Fredwayna and Carey stood beside the big wheel. The contestant got behind the host, screaming with excitement, as she took his arms and raised them in the air while he was speaking into the microphone. The host did not seem to mind as there was a big smile on his face. He was clearly enjoying the contestant’s enthusiasm.

Twerking is a popular form of dancing, but perhaps it is not as popular as the worm that a contestant performed in an earlier episode of the show. The contestant was a man named Edward, who danced his way to Contestant’s Row from his seat. As soon as his name was called by George Gray, he got down on the floor and did the worm to everyone’s surprise and delight.

He then ran to the stage where Carey was standing without going to Contestants’ Row first. He might not have had the chance to interact with the host otherwise. Edward then took the host’s hand in his own and did a little ballroom dance routine before taking his place beside the other contestants. “Hey Edward, how are you doing, what’s up buddy?” a slightly surprised Carey said.

Contestants’ Row is an exciting place to be, but it does not guarantee you a chance to be on stage with Carey. Edward knew this and got his moment with the host beforehand, albeit only for a few seconds. The fans loved it as well, cheering on the contestant as he showed off his dance skills.

Price is Right’s Rachel Reynolds eye-watering salary revealed after making huge profits

CBS’ beloved game show The Price is Right pays Rachel Reynolds an eye-watering sum, which makes her one of the highest paid models on daytime television

Rachel Reynolds’ salary on The Price is Right might shock viewers.

The beloved game show is faced by Drew Carey, who has been on the show for 18 years but still feels like the “new guy.”

However, there is one person on the show that’s been there a little longer than him and that is Rachel Reynolds.

The model joined The Price is Right in 2003, three years before Drew took over for Bob Barker. Her decades-long stint on the show makes her the second longest-serving model on television, trailing behind the show’s former host Janice Pennington, who appeared on the segment for 28 years.

When she celebrated her 20 year milestone, she told the host “it’s been the best years” of her life.

Rachel’s loyalty to the series has awarded her a $4 million new worth. Her exact salary isn’t public knowledge but most models on the show make $600,000 annually. She is one of the highest-paid models on daytime television.

While she has devoted the most time to The Price is Right, her net worth isn’t entirely from her earnings from the show. She has modeled for Venus Swimwear and Fitness RX. She also starred as a trophy model at the Daytime Emmy Awards in the early 2000s.

Along with modeling, Rachel has also acted in other popular shows like Resident Evil, Scorpion and How I Met Your Mother. As for films, she’s starred in Jack and Jill, Cellular and Lonely Hearts, which includes a star-studded cast with John Travolta and Salma Hayek as the leads.

Before getting her break in Hollywood, the model allegedly worked as a cashier while attending Louisiana State University, where she was also a part of the track team. She is originally from Mandeville, LA.

Along with Rachel, The Price is Right rotates between five other models: James O’Halloran, Devin Goda, Amber Lancaster, Manuela Arbelaez and Alexis Gaube, who is the newest member of the show. Aside from Drew and the models, the only other member of the on-screen cast is the announcer George Gray, who infamously invites the guest to the stage.

The Price is Right airs weekdays at 11am EST on CBS.

Inside Drew Carey’s worst encounters with Price Is Right contestants

The Price Is Right’s host, Drew Carey, has had some wild encounters with contestants over the years, after he took over for Bob Barker in 2007

The Price Is Right’s host, Drew Carey, has had some wild encounters with contestants since taking over for Bob Barker in 2007.

Contestants are encouraged to be as outrageous as they want, but sometimes they go a little overboard, and Carey usually takes the brunt of it.

Whether players of the hit CBS show, which has returned for Season 54, fall to the ground at his feet after losing a game, jump up and down on him after winning, or run around the show’s set in excitement, Carey has seen it all.

Viewers tend to fear for Carey’s well-being, seeing rambunctious contestants manhandle him, but he, like Barker before him, loves it, even if he doesn’t always see it coming.

Now that the hit game show has returned for yet another season that will surely see more wild moments, here’s a look at some of Carey’s wildest moments with contestants.

During March 31’s episode, Carey was struck nearly speechless after a player chose to celebrate winning a massive prize by doing several back flips on stage.

On the April 18 All Cash Friday episode of the hit CBS game show, player Sabrina fell to the ground after she won $26,000 in total on the wheel. She later ran around in excitement after winning her Showcase round.

A few days later, during the April 21 episode, player Elsa wildly jumped on model Devin Goda after winning a 2025 Volkswagen Jetta Sport on a game of Hole in One, one of the hardest games on the show.

Elsa ran towards the car and jumped into Goda’s arms, screaming “Oh my God!” as the model stumbled back a bit in surprise at the force of her hug.

During the May 21 episode, player Alexander got extremely excited when he guessed the nearest retail price of a fire pit. He practically ran to the stage to give Carey a bear hug that pretty much turned into a headlock.

He played an easy game of Side By Side to win a trip to Alaska and succeeded, only to jump up and down on Carey once again.

Carey joked, “Don’t go to Alaska,” before Alexander jumped on him a third time in excitement.

Carey has once again been manhandled by an over-the-top contestant, only days later, during the Memorial Day episode.

Player Steven excitedly jumped up and down and began shouting after he guessed the nearest retail price of a new TV.

When he got to the stage, he gave Carey a massive hug that nearly knocked him over, and got even more rambunctious when announcer George Gray revealed he had the chance of winning a trip to Cozumel if he won a game of Flip Flop.

After winning, the contestant jumped up and down and yelled again before jumping off the stage to give presenter James O’Halloran a big hug. He then looked to the audience and began jumping with his arms pointed high above his head.

Days later, a player fell over and onto Carey after winning a game of Side by Side.

Months later, during the July 7 episode, players called down were returning after being outbid by one dollar on Contestants Row in previous episodes.

However, when Angela was called down, she yelled, “Redemption!” in Carey’s face.

The contestant revealed that Carey had said something to her after being outbid by one particular player previously.

“What did I say?” Carey asked, before Angela yelled, “Because I screamed at the guy who bid a dollar, and you said that was an honest reaction,” as she screamed in demonstration.

“Well, she screams like that for a dollar, I can’t wait to see what she screams for when she sees this,” Carey joked after being screamed in the face.

A week later, player Kate screamed and booked it to the stage, where she came charging at Carey, who was stunned as she nearly knocked him down with a bear hug.

Kate then fell to the ground, with her arms above her head, and her knees buckled under her. When she stood up, Carey asked her what she did for a living.

The Voice Season 28: Country Artists Spark ‘One of the Biggest Shocks in Show History’ That Fans Can’t Stop Talking About

Why Dek of Hearts Caused “One of the Biggest Shocks in Voice History”

    Did anyone see this coming?

Country Artists usually pick country Coaches on The Voice (unless they get blocked). But Dek of Hearts just made a move no one saw coming.

    How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

During the first night of Blind Auditions for Season 28, the three-person band made up of Dylan, Emily and Kollin (hence “Dek”) performed a pitch-perfect rendition of “Heads Carolina, Tails California.” Though they’ve only been performing together for 14 months, their three-part harmony is so well-tuned that they got chair turns from all four Coaches before the first verse was over.

“I couldn’t even sit down. I wanted to hee-haw and yee-yaw. Y’all gave me the country Holy Ghost,” raved Coach Snoop Dogg. Referring to his past in One Direction, Coach Niall Horan pitched himself to the group by saying, “I was in a band…”

Coach Michael Bublé said what everyone was thinking: The group was obviously going to pick Reba McEntire. “This is so unfair,” he said. “So she may be one of the most prolific, iconic singers in the history of America. But think of how many Bublé-bies will be made…”

Reba McEntire brought out her secret weapon to try and win Dek of Hearts

“I have a question: Fans, what do y’all think? Who should they go with?” McEntire asked the audience, who promptly pulled out literal fans with her face on them.

“When I say she got fans, she got fans,” observed Snoop, impressed.

Being a team, Dek of Hearts had to talk it over before making their decision. When they turned around to announce their choice in unison, their answer was so shocking, McEntire had to lay down on the ground.

“Team Niall!” they said. That’s right: Dek of Hearts, a country group, passed on working with the Queen of Country.

“Getting Dek of Hearts on Team Niall might be one of the biggest shocks in Voice history,” Horan mused to the camera. “If you beat Reba McEntire to a country music Artist, you’re doing something right.”

McEntire was no less impressed. “He won The Voice two years in a row, and now he’s the king of the 4-Chair Turn?” she marveled. Yep. Looks like Niall Horan is the one to beat!

Carson Daly’s Game-Changing Moment: How He Helped a Contestant Make History on The Voice

Carson Daly Helps Ryan Mitchell Make History on The Voice with an Artist-First

Here’s how this is gonna work…

After years as a radio station host, the face of TRL and now the host of The Voice, Carson Daly knows a thing or two about musical talent. And thanks to a new rule, he’s empowered to help an Artist in need when he sees one. That’s exactly what happened during the first night of Blind Auditions for Season 28 of The Voice, when Ryan Mitchell failed to secure any chair turns during his try-out, despite having obvious talent.

Carson Daly Was Jimmy Kimmel’s Intern

    How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Mitchell is a 25-year-old from Los Angeles who performed “Cigarette Daydreams” by Cage the Elephant. He described his connection to the song’s meaning about growing up too fast, explaining that while he once drank a handle of vodka a day, he’s now four years sober. But while he may have related to the song emotionally, it didn’t quite give him a chance to show off his range, and the four Coaches agreed that it just wasn’t his night.

“Sometimes the Coaches just don’t get it right,” Daly told Mitchell and his family backstage, adding that he particularly likes what Mitchell was bringing to the table. “We rarely get a cool alt-rock Artist on the show anymore.”

How Carson Daly went the extra mile to help Ryan Mitchell on The Voice

“Twenty-eight seasons, I see Coaches let great singers like yourself fall through the cracks sometimes, and I’ve never been able to do anything about it until right now,” Daly explained, handing a stunned Mitchell a special card and instructing him: “Ryan, this is the Carson Callback Card. You’re just too good to let go. Pick a new song. Ryan, you have 24 hours to prepare for this second and last chance.”

Over the years, there have been Artists who have auditioned for The Voice multiple times. They’ll make it all the way to the Coaches only to be sent home with advice to come back stronger in a year and audition again. That’s when they’ll make a team.  Essentially, this speeds up that process. Instead of waiting a whole year to see if he can show another side of himself, Mitchell will have a day. And he’ll get to audition again. Because the auditions are blind, the Coaches won’t know it’s him until someone (hopefully) presses their button.

To find out if this happens, watch The Voice Tuesday, September 23 at 8/7c on NBC.

    How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

On the very first episode of the new season, Coach Michael Bublé said something to fellow Coach Niall Horan that may have risked the wrath of a famous Voice alum.

Bublé and Horan actually go back years, having met at an airport in 2012. But when Horan and Blake Shelton overlapped as Coaches on The Voice in 2023, Shelton affectionately called the Irish singer his “son,” a gentle joke about their age difference. With Shelton now gone from the show, Bublé made the same joke while chatting with an Artist, casually saying, “my son, Niall.” Did he realize what he’d done?

“Blake Shelton won’t be happy about this,” Horan worried backstage.

“I was [Shelton’s] son for a year,” he added, referring to their season together: Season 23.

“I don’t wanna live in Oklahoma anymore,” Horan deadpanned, alluding to the ranch where Shelton lives with wife Gwen Stefani.

Ultimately, though, Horan’s decided to stay loyal: “I’m Blake’s son. I always will be,” he said.

In real life, Horan has a dad back home, but around The Voice set, Shelton was very much a father figure and a friend.

“Blake, he’s like a dad to me. Y’know, he’s really helped me during the show. I’ve really enjoyed his company, and watching him has been a real honor,” Horan told NBC Insider in March 2023. “Me and the cowboy became good friends very quick. We realized we’re very similar people. For the good and the bad. He’s so funny—from the minute we met him.”

The feeling is mutual. During Season 23, Shelton mentioned to the producers, “I feel like Niall is going to take my seat on the show…I’m passing the baton on to my son.”

In a behind-the-scenes video from their season together, they even joked that they might be long-lost family. “We just found each other after 29 years,” Shelton quips. Adds Horan, “No offense to my dad. To the point where I’m thinking about firing my own dad.” With his real dad and his Voice dad, is there any room for Bublé? Can Bublé at least join Horan and Eric Stonestreet for their next a cappella singalong?

This is a hilariously spooky side of the country icon we’ve never seen before…

Reba McEntire is a Coach on The Voice, star of Happy’s Place, and a total force to be reckoned with. Just watch her perform “The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia.” But we never expected her to get this (playfully) spooky with sweet, innocent Niall Horan!

    How to Watch

Partway through Blind Auditions, McEntire pulled Horan aside and led him into the Coaches’ lounge, which, after two claps from McEntire, turned dark and spooky.

“I had another reason why I wanted to see you alone. When you decided to take a few seasons off, I think you forgot who’s in charge here,” McEntire ominously intoned (jokingly), leaning forward to get in Horan’s face. It’s true that he had been bragging a bit about his back-to-back wins in Seasons 23 and 24 in an effort to gain Artists for his team. Clearly, McEntire was having none of it, telling him, “I’m in charge here.”

“You feel like you can take a little vacation? Little mini vacation?” she continued, referring to his absence from Seasons 25, 26 and 27, to which Horan protested, “Reba, I was on tour!”

“You know who doesn’t take a vacation? Reba McEntire!” she quipped back.

“Why are you talking in the third person?” whimpered Horan.

“Just wanted to let you know that I am in charge here. You stay out of my way because Reba needs a win. Got it?” she concluded, to which Horan replied politely, “OK Miss Reba.” The lights came back on and that was that.

Niall Horan’s respect for Reba McEntire is deep and genuine

All jokes aside, Horan has admired McEntire for years. When she joined The Voice as a Mega Mentor during his first season as Coach, he was blown away by her talent and generosity.

“It was an honor to work with Reba McEntire. Just to even be in the same room as her. She’s a legend. She transcends country music. She’s just an icon,” Horan said at the time. “When I found out that I was going to meet her, I was blown away…And she was amazing. She’s got wisdom that only a few people have. And she’s willing to give some of it away. You know, for my Artists it was pretty sweet.”

    How to Watch

Watch The Voice Mondays and Tuesdays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Max Cooper III’s Blind Audition performance of Mike Posner’s “Cooler Than Me” blew away all four Coaches. His soulful voice transformed the well-known song into something completely unique. It earned him a well-deserved 4-Chair Turn, leaving the young singer with the decision of a lifetime: What team would he join?

As it turns out, he may have been destined to join Team Bublé all along. When asked what kind of music he enjoys performing the most, Cooper revealed that he has a lot in common with the Coach who won Seasons 26 and 27:

“I love doing pop, but I like adding jazz elements in it,” he explained. “The first song I actually ever performed was ‘Just Haven’t Met You Yet.’”

Talk about music to Bublé’s ears.

“I wrote that song!” the Canadian crooner excitedly screamed from his Coach chair. That’s when he saw an opportunity to make magic.

“Can we sing it together?” he asked Cooper, who responded with an instantaneous “Yeah, let’s do it,” causing Bublé to spring into action. The star leaped out of his Coach chair and ran on stage in record time to start the duet.

“Up to his old tricks again,” quipped Snoop Dogg, sensing that Bublé had beat the Coaches to the punch.

“The other Coaches are bummed,” Host Carson Daly remarked to Cooper’s family, who were watching from the side of the stage.

Before viewers could even process what was happening, the 23-year-old was playing the keyboard with Bublé’s arm around him as the two did a quick duet of Bublé’s 2009 hit — and they both sounded incredible.

After an impromptu performance like that, it was no surprise that Cooper chose to join Team Bublé.

When do new episodes of The Voice come out?

Throughout Season 28, new episodes of The Voice premiere every Monday and Tuesday night beginning at 8/7c — only on NBC.

If you thought Bublé performing an unplanned duet alongside the newest member of his team was memorable, well, you haven’t seen anything yet. Tune in next week to see what more exciting Blind Auditions are in store.
