It’s that time of year on the 2024 TV schedule when holiday episodes are on full display, and NBC followed up Lopez vs Lopez‘s Christmas ep with NBC’s’ Happy’s Place, which pulled out all the stops for its first-ever special. The bar-set comedy already serves as a mini-reunion of sorts, with Reba McEntire once again teaming up with Reba co-star Melissa Peterman and their former showrunner Kevin Abbott. However, the ongoing reunion got even bigger when Steve Howey appeared during Episode 7, and as a Reba fan, I’m so happy he agreed to do it.

Famously having played Van on The WB/CW sitcom, Howey joined Happy’s Place as Danny, an acquaintance of Gabby’s (Peterman) and a business owner looking to rent out a space to host a holiday party for his employees. Of course, shenanigans ensue due to Gabby lying about who she is, yubi, claiming she’s Bobby (McEntire), the bar’s owner.

It’s no surprise that the three actors clicked immediately on set, and their hilarious chemistry was infectious, resulting in one of the funniest episodes of the show to date. The NBC series has been met with mixed reviews from critics, though only its earliest episodes were available at the time, and eps like this prove that it’s worth sticking around.

It’s not too often that sitcom stars agree to reunite on screen in different roles, but from what Howey told TVInsiderit was an easy decision for him to make. As he put it:

Kevin Abbott, the showrunner for Reba, who’s now doing Happy’s Place, reached out to me and said, ‘I have this idea for this character and want to know if you want to come play with us.’ And I was like, ‘Are you kidding? Absolutely.’ It just made sense. It wasn’t anything that made me feel uncomfortable or weird, and it wasn’t Van.

Reba ended its run back in 2007 in a hilarious but touching series finale that left little need for a reboot. It’s unlikely that fans of the family sitcom will ever get a reboot or revival, but the mini-reunion on Happy’s Place was a nice reminder for fans of just how hilarious these three actors can be when they share the same stage.

Steve Howey, Melissa Peterman, and Reba McEntire on set of Happy’s Place

And even though the holiday episode didn’t reunite the entire Reba cast, it did allow three of the core actors to work together again alongside their beloved showrunner. In fact, it was for that reason that Howey agreed to take on the guest-starring role in the comedy after appearing primarily in dramas as of late.

I liked that. This was an opportunity to reacquaint with some people that I adore that I grew up with, Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman. I’ve always said that Reba has the Midas touch. [She’s] an amazing person and a mentor for me. So [when] Kevin asked me to come on, I was like, ‘Dude, are you kidding? Tell me when.’

While the episode that aired kept any explicit mentions of the actors’ roles in Reba out of the story, that didn’t stop Howey from playing around during an outtake. In the clip shared on NBC’s official TikTok page, Howey’s character falls into his old Reba character, calling McEntire “Mrs. H.” This prompts Peterman to run in, reprising her role as Barbara Jean, to tell Van that she has been in witness protection.

Even though Howey’s character appeared in a guest role, I’m hopeful that he’ll get another chance to reprise the role in future episodes. And who knows, maybe if Happy’s Place lasts for several seasons, we’ll get more and more cameos from Reba.

You can catch new episodes on Happy’s Place on Friday nights on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET. They’re also available to stream the next day with a Peacock subscription. And if you’re looking to relive the magic McEntire, Peterman, and Howey have on set together, you can stream all six seasons of Reba with a Hulu subscription.

[VERY SAD] Frasier’s Kelsey Grammer Confirms UNFORTUNATE NEWS for Cheers Fans While Teasing Ted Danson Reunion

Frasier’s Kelsey Grammer Confirms Unfortunate News for Cheers Fans While Teasing Ted Danson Reunion

    Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer

If the Frasier reboot continuesstar and producer Kelsey Grammer believes an on-screen reunion is possible between him and his Cheers castmate Ted Danson in his rebooted sitcom. However, Grammer insists this won’t lead to a Cheers reboot as he gives a definitive update on the hit parent series.

Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer explored the possibilities of a third season of his Frasier reboot, should it find a new home after its Paramount+ cancelation in January. According to Grammer, who claimed it’s “very possible” the series will continue elsewhere, he suggested Danson could appear in Season 3 after the duo’s recent public burial of the hatchet following their Cheers fallout. “Ted and I might visit actually something together,” Grammer said. “We’ve been talking about a couple ideas.

Maybe on Frasier. We don’t know.” However, Grammer stated that “there’s certainly still some fields to be mined there” before Frasier Crane and Sam Malone’s on-screen reunion happens.

    Frasier Season 2

Last fall, Grammer appeared on Danson’s podcast where Danson apologized for his treatment of the Emmy-winning actor during their Cheers days and regretted how their falling out ruined their friendship for decades. Grammer also admitted to personal issues he had while filming Cheers, including alcoholism, which further caused awkwardness between the two.

With their tensions seemingly quelled, Grammer feels a reunion with Danson could boost the Frasier reboot’s standing. “As long as it’s still a relevant relationship, it will still be relevant for the show,” he said. “[Sam] and Frasier got along pretty well, discovered some things together about life. They could still do that.”

Though Grammer wants Danson and other Cheers co-stars in the Frasier reboot, he’s sure of one thing: there will be no Cheers revival. Grammer reiterated that the Cheers bar is permanently closed, with no reason to bring back Frasier‘s parent show. “Cheers will not come back,” he said, yubi, adding, “I mean, Jimmy Burrows has always said, ‘No, that bar doesn’t exist anymore.’

Kelsey Grammer's Frasier sits by a piano and smiles to the camera

Paramount canceled the Frasier reboot after two seasons following mixed critical reviews, with the studio having no room to air it on CBS due to its packed lineup. However, Paramount revealed they were shopping the reboot to other streamers, with Amazon Prime Video and Hulu reportedly interested in acquiring it. The reboot sees Grammer’s protagonist return to Boston, Cheers‘ home, where he takes a professorship at Harvard University and reunites with his estranged son, Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott).

The show features several new faces, including Nicholas Lyndhurst (Alan Cornwall), Toks Olagundoye (Olivia Finch), Jess Salgueiro (Eve) and Anders Keith (David Crane), plus many stars from the original Frasier such as Peri Gilpin (Roz Doyle), Bebe Neuwirth (Lilith Sternin), Dan Butler (Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe), Edward Hibbert (Gil Chesterton) and Harriet Sansom Harris (Bebe Glazer).

Frasier Was Intended to Last Many Years

Frasier reboot showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris have also teased Danson’s Season 3 involvement, should the series find a new home. Grammer has also stated his intent to make the Frasier revival a long-term project, potentially stretching it to 100 episodes.

Fans can stream both seasons of the Frasier reboot via Paramount+.

The Good Place star Kristen Bell explains series finale ending

Spoilers ahead – so take it sleazy.

Note: incoming spoilers for The Good Place‘s last ever episode!

It’s forkin’ official: The Good Place has wrapped up after four wonderful seasons, and now star Kristen Bell has weighed in on the series finale’s ending.

Airing in the US yesterday (January 30), the show’s last ever episode ‘Whenever You’re Ready’ played out in typically comedic yet thoughtful fashion, with a warm and bittersweet ending.

After a number of emotional departures for all the characters, Eleanor decides to leave the Good Place through the final vine-covered door, yubi, where she dissolves into shiny particles.

We then see one of these shimmering lights fall to Earth and land on a man’s shoulder, prompting him to do something good.

Chatting to Entertainment Weekly, the actress gave her own spin on what the ending could mean.

“I think everybody’s particles sprinkle down,” she explained. “The way they re-evaluated how to get into the Good Place with these manufactured tests that once you got to the Good Place, you were allowed to celebrate being there as long as you want. Then you are allowed to end it.”

She continued: “Then you become these tiny, sparkly particles that rain down on the people on Earth to give them an extra boost. Those are the tiny voices inside your head that say, ‘Don’t throw that person’s mail away. Just walk to their door. It takes two seconds and it probably will make their day.’

“I would love to believe that that’s what happens. That’s such a beautiful way of thinking about it. Because we are all one, right? We’re all part of each other. Whether we want to believe it or not. There’s something that connects us all.

“I would love to believe that people who die become sparkly particles that make the voices inside our head give us good guidance.”

The Good Place aired on NBC in the US, with episodes premiering a day later on Netflix. You can also catch it on E4 in the UK.

A recent post from Entertainment Weekly details how The Good Place‘s creator, Mike Schur, is very cautious around spoilers, specifically because of Danson.

The first series of the show harboured a twist ending, and Schur obviously asked all artists involved to keep details on the down-low.

He recalled: “Ted said, ‘Absolutely, of course, I completely understand, I won’t tell a soul’. And he proceeded to tell literally every single person who asked him, random strangers at cocktail parties, anyone he ran into he’d spill the entire season. And I only found out about that after the finale had wrapped. He was like, ‘Okay, I’m glad it aired because I literally told everyone that happened.’”

Replying to Schur’s ‘fond’ memory, Danson said: “I was talking to John Krasinski, because he knows [Schur] well and loves you. I went, ‘Yeah, I’m working with Mike Schur and Kristen Bell.’ When I said it takes place in the afterlife, I saw his eyes go, ‘Oh, it’s The Office in Heaven.’ And that pissed me off. I’m like, ‘No! No! See, the trick is I’m actually a demon.’ And he was suitably impressed.”

There you have it, yubi, even seasoned actors are partial to the occasional spoiler.

Incensed Viewers Accuse Dan + Shay of Ruining ‘The Voice’

Like any fandom worth its salt, The Voice viewers are notoriously resistant to change. Many were still mourning longtime coach Blake Shelton’s departure when his wife, Gwen Stefani, announced her exit. And two-time champ Niall Horan devastated fans when he announced he would not return for season 25.

We’re only two episodes deep into Season 25, but if social media is any indication, many viewers have yet to warm to Dan + Shay. The pop-country twosome took over for Horan as the first coaching duo.

There’s no clear consensus on exactly what viewers’ beef is with the “Speechless” singers. Maybe some are having trouble telling the two apart? “My goal before blinds are over is to remember which one is Dan and which one is Shay,” one user wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Another user seemed to agree. “They are too over the top right out of the gate. They talk too much and cut everyone off.”

Some viewers simply see a case of “too many cooks in the kitchen.” “Refocus on the singers they are the reason we tune in, less about judges egos, remind dan&shay that they get 1/4 of the time not 2/5,” an X user wrote.

One viewer even felt compelled to comment directly on the “Tequila” pair’s personal Twitter account. “Can’t wait til the season ends so I never have to see or hear you again,” they wrote.

The Duo Is Still Pretty Excited To Help Aspiring Artists

While a good chunk of social media may not be thrilled to have Dan + Shay on The Voice, the pair themselves are pretty thrilled at the opportunity to help shape music’s next generation.

“We felt like we were well equipped to really help people on that show, helping new artists along, and making them better — better people and better artists,” Dan Smyers told Variety in September 2023. “We’ve made a lot of mistakes in our life, and have a lot of wisdom to share through those mistakes that we’re gonna be able to share with those artists.”

Dan + Shay Answer One Burning Question About Their Role On ‘The Voice’ [Watch]

Dan + Shay are clearing up some key details about their upcoming stint as The Voice coaches — specifically, they’re explaining their seating arrangements.

See Dan + Shay Live-Get tickets as low as $26.00

The country duo will be the show’s first-ever coaching duo, joining the roster in Season 25 alongside John Legend, Chance the Rapper and fellow country coach Reba McEntire. Of course, a very important part of the coaching process is sitting in the iconic big red chair during the Blind auditions. That chair comes complete with a button for the coach to press when they want to turn their chair around and invite a contestant to join their team.

But The Voice had to make some special arrangements for Dan + Shay, building them a custom coaches chair with two seats — and fans had some burning questions about the logistics of the seating set up.

The duo hopped on The Voice’s Instagram to clear things up, responding to one fan who asked on social media if they would be sharing a chair.

“Listen, people have been asking, ‘Is it two chairs? Is it one?’” the duo’s Shay Mooney replied. “It’s two chairs….but one button.”

“The double chair!!” Dan Smyers added.

Taking a look at the mock-up of the double chair, it looks like it might be most accurate to describe it as a kind of loveseat: The two chairs are connected, with one platform — where the button sits — between them.

That one button means that they’re won’t be any room for the band mates to disagree. During Blind Auditions, they’ll have the extra step of having to work it out amongst themselves whether or not they’re turning for a given Blind Audition — before the performer is finished with their song.

Dan + Shay’s role on The Voice starts on Season 25, which will air in 2024. It’ll mark a new direction for the show, and not only because it’ll have its first-ever coaching duo that season: It’ll also mark a season that’s more country than ever, with a total of three coaches hailing from the genre. McEntire will also be returning for that lineup, after making her debut as a Voice coach in Season 24, which airs this fall.

She’s replacing longstanding country coach Blake Shelton, who retired earlier this year after being a coach on the show for every single season since The Voice’s inception.

Why Did Gwen Stefani Leave ‘The Voice’? Will She Return as a Coach?

Gwen Stefani announced in December 2023 that she would take a break from her big red chair during season 25 of “The Voice.” The former No Doubt frontwoman appears to have pivoted focus to her music career for now.

However, Stefani is known for popping “in and out of seasons.” The “Hollaback Girl” singer was a coach in seasons 7, 9, 12, 17, 19, 22 and 24. So fans can’t help but wonder if the most recent hiatus is temporary or permanent.

Why Did Gwen Stefani Leave The Voice After Season 24? Is She Returning in 2024?

Gwen Stefani Is Making New Music

Stefani told Entertainment Tonight ahead of the season 24 finale that she had been working on new music “for a long time.”

“I’ve finally landed in that place where I’m obsessed, where I can’t stop listening, so I feel like I’m somewhere,” Stefani said. “I’m just trying to find like little pockets of time to make music and it still never gets old. It’s still so exciting and magical.”

Most assumed Stefani meant another solo album. Her last album, You Make It Feel Like Christmas, hit shelves in 2017. However, ever since No Doubt was announced as part of this spring’s Coachella lineup, the fan theories have been running wild.

Some Fans Think We’ve Seen the Last of Gwen Stefani on “The Voice”

Many fans remain hopeful that Stefani will return for Season 26. However, some social media users have spotted clues that she may be done for good.

“I feel like she might take a longer break this time around,” one fan wrote on Reddit. “People have said they seen interviews or got vibes that Gwen won’t be coming back for a while after season 24.”

Is Gwen Stefani Leaving 'The Voice' After Season 24?

Stefani met husband Blake Shelton on the set of “The Voice.” The Oklahoman’s folksy twang had been a mainstay since Season 1. However, Shelton hung up his cowboy hat last year after 23 seasons.

Seeing Reba McEntire in Shelton’s chair was certainly an adjustment for the No Doubt singer.

“It took me like a long time to accept that he was going to [leave], because I was like, ‘Who will you be if you’re not the guy on The Voice?’” Stefani told Entertainment Tonight. “Ends up, he’s still the same guy and I get to hang out with him every day. Sorry, guys, I’m lucky.”

John Legend Reveals Which of His Kids Takes After His Musical Talents

Looks like the Legend family household is full of legendary talent.

Grammy-winning artist John Legend revealed that his 6-year-old daughter Luna shares his love of singing exclusively with E! News’ Daily Pop. He and his wife Chrissy Teigen—who are currently expecting another baby—also share 4-year-old son Miles.

“She loves to sing,” Legend said of Luna’s musical talents. “When songs are playing in the car, she sings along with everything. And she has pitch, she hits the notes.”
John Legend Shares Adorable Photo with Miles and Luna in 'The Voice' Chair
But just because she shares her dad’s musical talents doesn’t mean she plans to follow in his entertainment footsteps. “I’m not sure if she really wants to sing,” the 43-year-old shared. “She’s at that place where I’m like, ‘Okay. You’re hitting the notes, and with some work and some training, we’ll see.’”

While he won’t be giving his daughter singing lessons anytime soon, Legend is returning as a coach on the new season of The Voice—which premieres September 19—to help a new group of music industry hopefuls get their big break. And this season, the “All of Me” singer is getting some help from his new advisor, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jazmine Sullivan.

“I’m just so excited that she’s here to just share her journey with our audience,” Legend told Daily Pop, “because so many of them look up to her.”

When it comes to this season’s competition, it’s first-time coach Camila Cabello that he has to look out for. Legend, who recommended Cabello join the series after she did such a great job as his former advisor, told Daily Pop he now regrets doing so, joking. “I was like, ‘Uh oh, I’m in trouble. I gave myself some more competition, and she’s really good at this.’”

    John LegendNBC

“She’s very competitive,” he continued. “She’s learned that it’s important to get the last word in, and she makes sure she gets the last word as much as possible, and it frustrates me.”

Luckily, Cabello is the only co-star Legend is worried about, as he said that having Gwen Stefani back as a coach has made her husband, longtime coach Blake Shelton, let down his guard.

“He’s gone soft on us,” the star joked. “I think when Gwen’s here, it takes a little of his edge off, and you can tell. He’s like losing country singers now. His competitive fire is—he’s a little bit de-fanged by Gwen being here.”

Hear Legend gush more about his new advisor Sullivan in the full interview above.

The Voice season 22 premieres Monday, September 19, at 8 p.m. on NBC.

Much like its Shell Game, The Price Is Right is mixing things up. Producers of the long-running CBS game show are preparing a new themed installment and even a redemption episode.

In the past, The Price Is Right has themed episodes around holidays like Christmas, Halloween, and April Fool’s Day, yubi, as well as events like the Super Bowl, the Grammy Awards, and NCAA March Madness. And viewers can expect at least one new theme in upcoming episodes.

    The Price Is Right

    Sonja Flemming/CBS

The Price Is Right is also gearing up for a “redemption” episode, Warfel teased. What exactly does that mean? Are past contestants getting another shot at the Showcase Showdown? Details are scarce — Warfel only said it’s a concept “never done before” in the show’s 51-year history.

Producers are also keeping The Price Is Right exciting with its wide variety of games, from Any Number to Vend-O-Price and everything in between. “We have 79 games for a reason,” Warfel explained, referring to the options kept in a warehouse when they’re not in use on set. “When you tune into the show, it feels different every time.”

When Does 'The Price Is Right' Return With New Episodes?

Despite the variety of games and the upcoming changes, The Price Is Right is still sticking to the format that that has been entertaining audiences since 1972. “For me, the importance of the show is holding on to the nostalgia,” Warfel said. “The reason people continue to tune in year after year is because they remember how it made them feel, the place they were in their life when they watched — like with one of their grandparents or being home sick from school. We do our best with every change we make to still remind people.”

He had a contestant on stage to play the game Back to ’75, which features various items from years ago.

“If you notice, new year, we changed the background to Back to ’75,” he told everyone.

He explained that in 1975, they “redesigned the look of the show” and made changes like extending it to an hour long and bringing in the Big Wheel for the Showcase round.

“Same TV, though,” Drew joked while discussing the game’s recent update.

The host said the game was originally Back to ’72 for the 50th anniversary of the show. It stuck around due to its popularity and got renamed Back to ’75.

During the modern-day game, George Gray read the original copy for each of the three items from back in 1975, and then the contestant could turn the dial to “dial in the price” they thought that item cost in 1975.

George revealed that the first of three items was a Schick air-freshening machine that periodically sprayed a fresh scent. She estimated the price to be $16, but she was only four dollars off since it was $20.

Next up was a Litronix 2230 calculator with big red buttons. George said it was “unconditionally guaranteed to the original owner for one full year from date of receipt.”

Drew was amused by that line and laughed at George after he finished. George reminded him it was the original copy for the 1975 item. The contestant dialed in a price of $34 and was under by just six dollars.

Lastly, there was a Tele-Games version of the classic game Pong from Sears. When Drew saw that item, he got excited and raised one fist to celebrate the prize.

“Hey man, your mom gets your video games from Sears,” Drew joked as the contestant consulted with the audience.

The contestant estimated it cost $62, but the actual price was $100. However, with $40 left on the game’s dial, she had two dollars left after all three items. She was ecstatic as she’d won $25,000 for her great guesses.

Some fans questioned TPIR’s changes to the game, and others celebrated ‘vintage’ aspects

In the YouTube comments, several fans called out the change, seeming to criticize aspects of the update.

One commenter indicated that The Price Is Right needed to wait slightly longer in 2025 to make the change.

“Too soon to change that backdrop of the old turntable. They should have waited until the 54th season to do that. The set change happened in August 1975 when they were still doing all new shows for the summer,” a fan wrote.

Another asked if they would “change the name of this game every year, a la Match Game?”

“I think the game should be called ‘The Price WAS Right’, that way they can have items from different years the show has been on that need to be guessed on,” they commented.

Another individual mentioned that the show had a pricing game called The Price Was Right, which replaced the Showcase Showdown during the “disastrous 1994 New Price Is Right.”

Some fans praised seeing this game in the highlight clip and reminisced about various aspects of it.

One fan said they love “the vintage prize music that plays as George reads the original copy.”

“I love the classic music cues!!! Please use them more often. Feels like the Price is Right we all know and love,” a commenter said.

A commenter said, “Love how enthusiastic Drew was with the Pong system. Must’ve played it when he was a kid.”

“These are the same exact prize copies that were first read out by the late great Johnny Olson,” another fan commented.

The Back to ’72 game debuted in September 2022, returned for Season 51 as Back to ’73, and continues to be updated yearly. Given its unique format, including vintage items and intriguing copy, it should stay as the show continues.
