Drew Carey stops games on ‘Price is Right’ to host a gender reveal for couples: “Everybody it’s a…”

Carey proved that the show is more than just about winning prizes and celebrating cars or trips.

Just like sporting events, TV game shows are also a popular option for people proposing to or expressing love for their partners. From a woman getting engaged on “Wheel of Fortune” to several couples getting married with Drew Carey as minister on “The Price is Right,” viewers have seen it all yubi. But Carey is known to be up for anything, and he went a step further by hosting a gender reveal for couples on the sets of the show.

In the heartwarming episode, the games were paused for a brief moment when Carey called a contestant, Suzette, and her husband, Alexander, to perform a gender reveal ceremony for them. The expecting mother had an envelope velcroed to her belly, which Carey plucked off for the reveal. Before opening the envelope, the host asked the couple what they were hoping to find out. While Suzette wanted a boy, Alexander wished for a girl. “You can use Drew as a girl’s name or a boy’s name. It works either way,” Carey joked before opening the envelope.

The host then took out a card and announced, “It’s a girl, everybody!” in the style that he hosts the game show, as the room erupted in applause. Carey then called on another couple who were also expecting a baby soon. The adorable couple Joseph and Amber shared that they were due in a few months. After an introduction, the host opened the envelope. However, this time, things weren’t as straightforward as the envelope had a sonogram picture, which was difficult for Carey to describe.

“Okay, I got a picture right here for proof, and then…oh, I see okay,” he said as he realized that there was a note on the picture. He then asked the couple what they were hoping for, and both of them wanted a boy. Carey then revealed that it was also a girl, drawing big applause from the audience and celebrations from the couple.

While this wasn’t part of the usual proceedings of the show, viewers at home enjoyed and appreciated the moments. “Aww. That’s sweet,” @misssmargo commented on the YouTube clip.

 

This wasn’t the only time that Price Is Right helped out couples with their personal life events. Back in 2015, the show also hosted a mass wedding for couples, with none other than the host officiating the weddings. The players may not have won a new car, but they left with a spouse after the special episode.

The host, who did something that had never happened on the show before, told PEOPLE that he was on board with the idea from the moment it was pitched to him. “I thought it was funny, not crazy. It was a good chance for me to have a Reverend Moon moment,” he said.

Carey revealed that he got ordained online to officiate the ceremony, making it completely legitimate. “There’s probably like 50 couples or something that can say they got married on The Price is Right, so that’s kind of cool,” the host said.

Fans of Price Is Right are growing increasingly concerned for long-time host Drew Carey ‘s wellbeing after some questionable behavior on the hit CBS game show.

On a new Reddit board they’ve expressed their worry for Carey’s safety, agreeing that the contestants who fail to contain their excitement and jump on the host are too dangerous and need to be warned about their behavior prior to the show.

Price Is Right always encourages fans to be as energetic and excited as possible but the fans online think some have been too rough with the beloved game show host.

On the forum called No touchy, one fan wrote: “Before the show tapes, do they announce to the audience, if you make it on stage, do NOT hug, maul, pick up, get rough with Drew? Some of these contestants are too rough. They could accidentally hurt Drew.”

In the comments section, one responded: “Evidently they don’t because some of the women are all over him. One almost pushed him over and the woman today was crawling all over him.”

A second added: “Yeah, Drew isn’t exactly a spring chicken any more. I realize contestants are pumped up, but please don’t damage the host… or the models either.”

A third pointed out: “They show a hype video of people doing crazy things before you go into the studio, which inspires folks to be crazy. My pet peeve is being slow as hell to come down once called.”

Yet another commented: “I’ve been getting worried about him lately. Some of these crazies are getting way too physical with him,” as another penned: “We were there in October and no one said that to us that I remember. But I agree they should! A few years ago Drew had a shoulder issue and I remember them saying something on air at the time about being careful to not hurt him.”

Another scared viewer added: “One day is going to be bad I can feel it… It’s crazy the adrenaline with these people lol they don’t know their own strength and will probably take him down.. he could break a hip.”

However, one person argued: “I think he likes it.”

One fan mentioned that Bob Barker, Carey’s predecessor, got the same treatment: “I remember that happened back with Bob Barker also,” as another noted that some fans would “throw [the original host] around like a ragdoll.”

Carey is 66 years old and has been hosting The Price Is Right since 2007, following the retirement of Barker at the age of 83.

He’s seen it all and likely isn’t shocked when someone bear hugs him on air. He’s also expressed on more than one occasion that he loves his job.

“I think Bob made a mistake by retiring,” Carey told Entertainment Tonight at CBS ‘ fall schedule celebration.

“I’m not gonna make that same mistake. As long as my heart is ticking and they want me to be on the show, I think I’m gonna do The Price Is Right. I just love it. I’m not going anywhere,” he continued, adding that he was “made for” the job.

In an interview with TV Insider , Carey shared: “I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day,” he said. “I don’t think in terms of I’m the longest one. I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die.

“This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak.”

Carey has no plans to retire any time soon, adding: “Before, I was like, ‘Can I make it to five years? Can I make it to the end of my contract? Can I make it 10 years?’

“The longest I’d been on TV was The Drew Carey Show, nine years. Once I hit 10 years here, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s the longest I’ve ever had a job in my life. It’s such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can’t imagine giving it up.’”

Craig Melvin is honoring the memory of his late brother in a special way.

Back in 2020, the Today show host revealed his older brother, Lawrence Meadows, had passed away due to colon cancer. At the time, Craig expressed that for the past few years, Lawrence was raising awareness for the disease, and how Craig and his family would continue to do so in his honor.

And now, for National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Craig, who serves on the Colorectal Cancer Alliance’s board of directors, announced that he designed a 1/4 zip-up Today sweatshirt and matching socks with the foundation and NBC.

“Big announcement! 💙,” he wrote. “Last year, I was inspired to design and create a TODAY tie and sock set in honor of my brother, Lawrence, who passed away from colorectal cancer back in 2020. This year, I went the sportier route and designed a ¼ zip and sock set. With your help, we can raise greater awareness about the importance of preventive screening. When fans saw Craig’s sentimental gesture, they immediately shared their heartfelt words in the comments.

On Friday morning (28 April), James Corden hosted the final episode of the his popular US talk show The Late Late Show.

The former Gavin & Stacey star announced earlier this year that he would be stepping down from the role in 2023.

In a new interview with The Times, Corden explained the reason for the decision, which he said was made in order to spend more time with his wife, Julia, and his three children.

“I have so many really beautiful memories of my childhood,” he said.

“Usually our holidays would be in a caravan, surrounded by concrete. But one summer we drove down to France in a camper van, listening to Paul Simon’s Graceland, and everything about that summer is so big in my head. That was why I quit The Late Late Show in the end.”

After Corden and his family had to cancel last year’s summer holiday due to scheduling clashes with his work, he made the decision to leave the long-running TV series.

“When I told [11-year-old son] Max [about cancelling the holiday], he looked so sad, yubi and I had this sudden revelation of the maths: we’ve only got six more summers with the kids, before they start wanting to go off with their mates. Six if we’re lucky.

“I knew I just couldn’t do that again. So that’s why I quit,” he added.

In a March 2023 interview with People magazine, Guthrie talked a bit about the bond that she shares with Bush Hager.

“Our kids are still buddies. What we just do now is, she’s out of the city, so we just make weekend plans and try to see each other. It was such a beautiful moment in time, those five, six, seven years that we were neighbors. Our kids grew up together,” she told the outlet.

“They were more like cousins than anything. Hal, her youngest, is my godson, so my kids like to call the other kids their godbrothers and sisters. And it feels like family,” she added.

It has been an emotional time on the Today set, starting on January 10 when longtime correspondent Hoda Kotb exited the show after 17 years as co-host. Kotb was replaced by longtime co-host Craig Melvin, who also choked up on his first day as co-anchor while being welcomed by his Today co-stars as well as family and friends.

Following Dawson’s audition, Levine stated that the country hopeful was the “perfect person to round out” his team.

“He has one of these young country voices that I hear a lot. You listen to the guys that are killing it right now in country music, and I think he can do it. I can’t wait to coach country. We’re gonna kick a–,” the “She Will Be Loved” singer said.

Levine admitted that he might be out of his league when coaching a country artist and needs Shelton’s guidance.

“I’m going to call my friend Blake Shelton, and I’m going to be like, ‘Hey stupid. Help me,’” the pop-rock singer added.

The Voice Battle Rounds begin on Monday, March 10 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.

In Happy’s Place, Rich will portray Maverick, a funny tattoo artist who can only do tattoos with his right hand due to a stroke. On the other hand, Machado, known for her roles in Jane the Virgin, One Day at a Time, and Queen of the South, plays Maritza, Isabella’s mother and a successful lawyer.

Longtime television personality Vanna White showed off a new piece of bling  on social media during her recent girls’ trip with old friends.

The Wheel of Fortune beauty, 67, took to Instagram to show off some of the memories she made during her low-key getaway to North Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as the diamond on her left hand.

The Reel kicked off with a clip of White and Wheel co-host Ryan Seacrest talking on the set of the ABC show about her recent vacation.

She explained to Seacrest: “Every year, my girlfriends and I go away together, and I have a little video to show you. Take a look.”

“Alright, there we are, having a good time on the boat. We’re walking on the beach, talking about old times,” White narrated.

The video showed the group enjoying their trip, soaking up the sun in the sand and even performing a cheerleading routine.

Throughout the post, White offered quick glimpses into the trip, which also included the brand-new diamond ring on her finger. She even approached the camera closely as made a sushing gesture with her left hand, putting the ring on display.

The hostess captioned the clip: “What happens in North Myrtle Beach, stays in North Myrtle Beach!”

White’s new bling leads fans to believe that she may have gotten engaged to her longtime partner whom she has been officially dating since 2012 after the two met at a mutual friend’s house.

Her longtime beau, John Donaldson, is the founder of JDC Construction & Development Group.

Last year, White spilled why she had yet to marry Donaldson to People Magazine.

She revealed in late 2023: “I mean, we’ve been together 12 years, and I feel like we are married. Do we have to get married? No, because we feel comfortable in our relationship. You know what I mean? I know that he’s the one. He knows I’m the one.”

Ryan Seacrest’s debut as the new host of Wheel of Fortune has drawn mixed reactions from viewers, with some criticizing a particular habit during his third episode.

Fans noticed Seacrest, who recently made his debut on WOF, yubi, frequently keeping his hands in his suit pockets while interviewing contestants and throughout the game, following the show’s ratings going up.

Some viewers expressed their concerns on social media, following former host, Pat Sajack’s retirement.

“Get your hands out of your pockets, Ryan,” one X user wrote.

Another commented: “I don’t like how relaxed Ryan was. It almost like he trying hard to come off as, ‘See? I’m not nervous’. At the beginning of the round, Ryan had his hands in his pockets and was leaning against the ledge.”

Despite these critiques, many fans have embraced Seacrest as Sajak’s replacement.

One Reddit user noted: “Ryan’s good! He brings a lot of energy and vibes into the show.”

However, the new set design has received more widespread criticism.

Viewers have described the bright blue and yellow, rotating background as distracting.

“Ryan Seacrest is doing an o.k. job, but I really hate Wheel of Fortune’s new set. It looks cheap and cheesy,” one Instagram user wrote.

Another viewer commented on Reddit: “Ryan is okay but I hate the new set. Also hate them showing the contestants at [the] bottom during the toss ups. It’s a distraction.”

In his opening monologue on Monday’s debut, Seacrest said: “I still can’t believe my luck of being here with you tonight to continue this legacy of this incredible show with all of you.

“And of course, my good friend Vanna White.”

Notably, Seacrest did not mention Sajak, who stepped down after over 40 years as host.

As Shana Wall was aboard an American Airlines flight to Rome, she got injured by sipping at a beverage that allegedly had shards of plastic.

Ryan Seacrest’s ex-wife has claimed in a lawsuit filed in the Manhattan Supreme Court that her throat, esophagus, vocal chords and digestive system were hurt on May 1.

In court documents obtained by The Mirror, the former Amazing Race contestant further alleged that American Airlines “had actual and/or constructive notice of the dangerous and unsafe conditions.”

She believes the airlines is liable for her injuries which she claimed were “caused solely by the negligence, gross negligence, wilful, wanton, reckless and quasi criminal conduct” by American Airlines.

The reality star described her injuries as “permanent,” explaining that she was previously “confided to home and bed.” During that time, Shana said she sustained “a loss of enjoyment of life,” including an inability to perform “the duties of her occupation, sustaining wage and economic loss; has incurred, and will in the future continue to incur.” Plus, she noted the financial toll that treatment of her injuries took on her.

Shana “demands judgment against [American Airlines] on the first cause of action in an amount which exceeds the jurisdictional limit of all lower courts which would otherwise have jurisdiction together with costs, disbursements, interest and attorneys’ fees on all causes of action.” However, she doesn’t specify an exact financial amount.

Ryan and Shana started dating in 2003, but split up soon after they attended the Primetime Emmy Awards together in 2005. While they were briefly seen together in 2016 again, romance didn’t seem to spark between them again as Ryan linked back up with Shayna Taylor.

In addition to her Amazing Race stint, the star also made appearances on shows like Married…. With Children and Entourage.

However, she now focuses most of her time on being a sommelier and contributor to the men’s magazine Best Life. She’s big on world travel, explaining her presence on the flight to begin with. Shana documents her adventures well on social media, posting from Italy in mid-May, after the accident.
