Reba McEntire’s Restaurant at Risk of Closure due to the controversies surrounding her

Since Reba McEntire celebrated the grand opening of her namesake restaurant last year in downtown Atoka.

Reba’s Place been busily dishing up shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, along with country charm and celebrity glamour.

“We’re in our sophomore year now. It’s doing well: We, of course, have to make changes, adjust, and we’re learning.

But it’s still the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had in my life. And I had the meatloaf night before last night, and it was really good,” said Reba.

Who grew up on an Atoka County ranch in nearby Chockie.

The Oklahoma native’s newfound knowledge as a restaurateur — the multitalented entertainer is a 50/50 partner.

With the Choctaw Nation in the ownership of the home-state restaurant bearing her name — will come in handy if her new television sitcom gets a series order.

A Golden Globe-nominated actress and Country Music Hall of Fame singer, Reba confirmed to The Oklahoman that filming was completed in April for the pilot episode of what she hopes will be her new sitcom, titled “Happy’s Place.”

She said the pilot co-stars her boyfriend, actor and fellow Oklahoman Rex Linn, whom she described as the “love of my life.”

“My good friend Melissa Peterman is joining me again on, (as) I call it, the TV box, and it’s a fun story,” Reba said.

Reba and Peterman became friends when they co-starred in the still-beloved 2001-2007 TV series “Reba.”

But theirs isn’t the only “Reba” reunion happening on the potential new sitcom. “Reba” executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis are back together for the new project alongside a new addition to the creative team, Julie Abbott.

“My crew, my producers and my showrunner, we’ve been working for a long time. Ever since 2006, when ‘Reba’ got canceled, we’ve been trying to find another story,” Reba told The Oklahoman in an one-on-one interview behind the scenes at April’s Western Heritage Awards in Oklahoma City.

“My showrunner Kevin Abbott, his wife, Julie, was the one that came up with this idea — and we ran with it. And NBC loved it enough to for us to do a pilot, and we hope to find out real soon if we get to run forward a little further with it.”

The “Reba” reunion on the new pilot comes as McEntire’s eponymous series, for which was she was nominated for a 2004 Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy TV series, remains a hot title. All episodes of the six-season show are now streaming on Hulu, and the series will debut May 6 on Netflix.

The new pilot stars Reba as Bobbie, who inherits her father’s restaurant and tavern, Happy’s Place, when he dies. According to Deadline, her character is less than thrilled when she learns she has a new business partner: the younger half-sister she never knew she had, played by “Blue Beetle” star Belissa Escobedo.

Peterman co-stars as Gabby, a longtime bartender at the tavern who wishes she was Bobbie’s sister, while Linn plays a taciturn cook named Emmett.

Deadline reports that “Yellowstone” actor Tokala Black Elk, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe and a direct descendant of the Lakota holy man Black Elk, has been cast as a kindly waiter with handyman skills named Takoda.

Pablo Castelblanco (“Alaska Daily”) plays Steve, the restaurant’s accountant who does his work at the bar and dislikes change.

If the pilot gets picked up for a series, Reba told The Oklahoman her experiences with Reba’s Place should help her add flavor to “Happy’s Place.”

“I have a lot more knowledge about running a restaurant and a tavern than before, so, yeah, I think it’ll help,” she said.

Over the past five decades, Reba has forged a multifaceted career, beyond even just country music, television series and her restaurant.

“I wanted to be Annie Oakley, and thank God I got to be her for six months (on Broadway). I wanted to be in the movies; I got to do that,” Reba said as she accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Western Heritage Awards.

Her current projects also include working as a coach on the NBC singing competition series “The Voice” Season 25 and hosting the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards for the 17th time.

When the 59th ACM Awards stream live May 16 from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, exclusively on Prime Video, the three-time Grammy Award winner also will take the stage for a special performance featuring her new music.

“I’m taking a break (from) touring for 2024. We probably won’t do anything until the end of ’25. But I do have music coming out, and that hopefully will be aired on ‘The Voice.’ Then, we’re going to shoot a video for it,” she told The Oklahoman.

The Oklahoma native announced Monday on social media that she will perform her new song “I Can’t” on the Tuesday, May 7 live episode of “The Voice.” Fans can pre-save the new track, which is set to be released at 9 p.m. May 7, at https://strm.to/ICant.

The country music superstar, whose “Reba” theme song “I’m a Survivor” remains a familiar and relatable anthem, said she hopes to incorporate her music into the new sitcom, too.

Reba McEntire spoiled an underhanded plot of hers in ‘Happy’s Place’ that was exposed by this mysterious character: ‘Even I didn’t think that person would show up’

The entertainment world is still buzzing over the announcement of Happy’s Place, an upcoming NBC sitcom starring everybody’s favorite Voice Coach, Reba McEntire.

We’re happy to report that the good news is still coming down the pipeline — McEntire’s real-life boyfriend, Rex Linn, is slated to star alongside her!

If you’re not familiar with Linn, let us introduce you!

Linn is a familiar face to anyone who watches movies — because he’s been in a lot of them (more than 35, to be exact).

The 67-year-old has appeared in projects like CSI: Miami, Django Unchained, Tin Cup, and he previously co-starred with McEntire in The Hammer and Big Sky.

Their love story is more like a fairytale than anything else; McEntire met Linn while filming the 1991 cult classic western The Gambler Returns:

The Luck of the Draw, but things were platonic between the pair until 2020 when McEntire took a gamble of her own — one that would pay off big time.

After McEntire rolled the dice, reached out to her longtime friend, and asked Linn out for dinner in January 2020, the rest is history. They quickly realized they were a match made in heaven. Over the pandemic, the two were inseparable, and the restrictions they faced only strengthened their bond. The pair went public with their relationship in the fall of 2020 and never looked back.

“He’s the first person I talk to when I get up each morning and the last person I talk to before I go to sleep each night,” McEntire wrote in her 2023 book, Not That Fancy. “I’m having fun being in love again. Romantic relationships should be fun — I don’t care how old you are. Love should bring you joy and make you feel good, and I’m never going to settle for anything less.”

We’re sure McEntire will bring the same enthusiasm to the set of Happy’s Place she brings to her and Linn’s relationship. Besides, adding her boyfriend to the series’ cast will only make McEntire’s trademark smile even wider!

Not everyone is entirely thrilled with this latest batch of coaches of The Voice Season 27 as viewers are calling for Reba and Snoop to return

Viewers are calling for Reba and Snoop to return, saying The Voice feels empty without them

First premiering in 2011, The Voice embarks on its 27th season Monday (Feb. 3.) Michael Bublé is chasing his second title after becoming the first coach in the show’s history to have the top two acts in their debut season. He is the lone season 26 returner, joining veterans Adam Levine and John Legend. Additionally, country-pop sensation Kelsea Ballerini makes her debut in the big red chair. However, not everyone is entirely thrilled with this latest batch of coaches.

What Time Is 'The Voice' On Tonight? Season 27's New Schedule And How To Watch

‘The Voice’ Viewers React to Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire Exits

After 26 seasons, change is the only constant for The Voice viewers. Each year brings fresh faces both to the big red chairs and the auditions.

Naturally, fans can’t help but get attached to certain coaches. And some of them took to social media to express their displeasure at the absence of two particular coaches.

“I’ll watch again when Snoop and Reba return,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.

Another agreed: “Bring back Gwen and Snoop oh and Reba.”

In an interview with OK Magazine, Snoop Dogg admitted that his coaching gig on The Voice was always a one-off.

“I had a great time on The Voice,” said the “Gin and Juice rapper. “I ain’t gonna front, but when I did the contract, I thought, ‘I’m gonna do this for one year and get up outta here.’”

See the Reba McEntire moment that brought Snoop Dogg to tears on 'The Voice'

The West Coast Legend has a packed 2025 in front of him. He will host the NFL Honors this Sunday, Feb. 9. Additionally, he will star in, and executive produce, Luc Besson’s 2025 feature film, The Last Man.

As for Reba, she’s currently starring in her new NBC sitcom, Happy’s Place. The “Fancy” singer exits the show after three seasons and one title.

    Adam Levine Is Back

Despite any lingering disappointments over the departures of Snoop and Reba, The Voice fans have a reason to get excited for season 27. Adam Levine, whose coaching career dates back to the very first season, is back after a six-year hiatus.

“Can’t wait to see Adam,” one X/Twitter user wrote.

The Maroon 5 frontman exited The Voice in 2019, having been a fixture all 16 seasons. Now, Levine returns seeking his fourth win.

The Voice fans are frustrated by a recurring issue and hope Season 27 will bring a change

The Voice fans are tired of hearing all the sob stories. This is something that has gotten worse as the series progresses. However, fans still enjoy the show. There is a new panel of coaches this season and it has been fun watching them all together.

The Coaches Of The Voice Season 27

The Season 27 Coaches panel of The Voice will feature a star-studded lineup of powerhouse veterans and newcomer industry experts. Coaches John Legend and Michael Bublé will reprise their coaching roles fresh off their fun in Season 26, with Voice O.G. Adam Levine returning to the red chair for the first time since his departure in 2019. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, country superstar Kelsea Ballerini will also celebrate her Coach debut in Season 27 after serving as a substitute Coach for Kelly Clarkson in Season 20.

The Voice Fans Tired Of Sob Stories

Fans of The Voice are tired of constantly hearing sob stories from the contestants. They went to Reddit to express their opinions.

“I am so over every freaking person with a sob story. Enough. There are perfectly happy people out there that can sing. Why do they only give people with life woes a chance.”
“For the most part, they don’t. The producers just force those stories out of them because they want people to empathize with the artists”
“That’s one reason I watch the next morning , so I fast forward through it”
“There’s so much focus on the sob story stuff that we actually don’t get enough real background info on the artist that matters. Like, their musical background and performing history.”
“We’ve skipped past all the backstories this season and have been better off.”

Fans do not care about the backstory of every artist. They would rather see more auditions on the show.

It seems that fans do not want to hear all of the sob stories the artists have. They would rather have more blind auditions filmed and not the background stories. However, if they are going to show the background of the singer, they would like it to be about their music, not their sad stories. Do you agree with this? Are you tired of all the sob stories? [STUNNING]The Voice Coach Adam Levine reveals the BIGGEST surprise he got when he returned to the show for season 27

Adam Levine reveals the biggest surprise he got when he returned to The Voice for season 27

The day many fans of The Voice have been waiting for is finally upon us! Adam Levine is set to make his return to the Big Red Chairs when Season 27 premieres on the 2025 TV schedule February 3. It will be the first time the Maroon 5 singer coaches a team of singers since Season 16, when he left the show after being involved in some of The Voice’s wildest (and even controversial) moments. Levine has talked a lot about his impending comeback, and he admitted one thing happened that he didn’t see coming.

Why Is Adam Levine Returning To 'The Voice?' The Reason He Left And Came Back

It was 2019 the last time Adam Levine took a spin on The Voice chairs. Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson have left the show, likely permanently, and with John Legend being the only familiar face on the panel (the EGOT winner was making his debut in Levine’s final season), one can’t help but wonder why the Maroon 5 singer chose to return now. Levine told:

I just felt like it was time. I had some time to reflect and do my thing and be with my family. I was ready to do it, then the stars aligned and here I am.

With The Voice filming two seasons a year, there’s no question the NBC singing competition took up quite a bit of space in the coaches’ calendars (especially in earlier seasons, which included more live episodes). That was one reason Blake Shelton ultimately walked away from the show.

Adam Levine Talks 'The Voice' Return Without Blake Shelton (Exclusive)

But in addition to getting some much-needed time away, it sounds like Adam Levine might also be referencing his 2022 cheating scandal when talking about taking time with his family to reflect. Whatever number of reasons he had or stars that needed to align, the rocker made one thing clear: He didn’t choose to come back because he missed the show. That’s why he was so surprised by the wave of emotions that hit him when he returned to the set. He said:

It’s funny, I actually didn’t miss it while I was gone. But I became more nostalgic about it once I came back.

Despite Adam Levine officially being gone for six years, he did return a couple of times in other capacities. Maroon 5 performed during the Season 20 finale in 2021 (coincidentally, his fellow Season 27 coach Kelsea Ballerini also performed on that episode), and Levine returned for Blake Shelton’s final episode in 2023.

It’s not surprising to hear that Adam Levine was flooded with emotional memories upon returning to The Voice set. I’m sure it’s strange to not have Blake Shelton around, and he made sure to troll the cowboy when talking about his return. (Shelton, for his part, also continued to shade Levine for years after Levine left, even slamming his tattoo artist.)

It wasn’t all fun times on The Voice for the Maroon 5 frontman, either. In addition to the aforementioned controversial moments — which included a feud with Christina Aguilera over ex-Mickey Mouse Club performer Tony Lucca singing “99 Problems” and later when he threw a Team Adam singer under the bus — Adam Levine also experienced devastation when his former team member 22-year-old Christina Grimmie was murdered during a fan meet-and-greet.

Adam Levine definitely went through some stuff in the first 16 seasons of The Voice, so even if the nostalgia was surprising to him, it’s not hard to see why returning to a show he didn’t think he’d missed was actually pretty emotional.

Hopefully Season 27 holds more fun and less controversy. Tune in to find out when it premieres at 8 p.m. ET Monday, February 3, and streaming the next day with a Peacock subscription.

During the live shows, there will be some episodes aired on Tuesdays. However, it is unknown how many will be on Tuesday nights and when. The Season 27 finale will be in May. Doing only an episode a week instead of two has made the season last longer.

While fans wish they could see more than one episode a week, people are excited to watch the season unfold. There is a lot that is going to happen and the coaches cannot wait to fill their spots on their teams.

Blake Shelton RETURNS to The Voice Season 27 in an unexpected way BUT Adam Levine won’t be feeling too good about it

Blake Shelton makes a surprise return to The Voice season 27, and Adam Levine won’t be too happy about it

Blake Shelton may be gone on The Voice, but he’s never forgotten.

The country star left his longtime gig as a Coach on The Voice a couple years ago, but in the Season 27 premiere, it was like he was back. Well, almost. Read on to find out how he made a surprise appearance.

The Voice' Premiere Sees Incredible 4-Chair Turn & Surprise Blake Shelton Cameo

Kelsea Ballerini has a Blake Shelton button on her red chair

For her first season as a Coach, Kelsea Ballerini decided she needed some reinforcements to go up against returning Coach and multi-season winner Adam Levine. So she enlisted Levine’s friendly rival, Shelton. As she demonstrated during the episode, Ballerini seems to have a button on her red chair that she can press to play an insult Shelton lobbed at Levine in years past. “I have it for when I really need some backup,” Ballerini explained.

In fact, there are four quotes: “Adam’s a big baby,” “Adam…won’t shut up,” “Adam, you say a lot of stupid stuff,” and “Adam’s a crappy Coach.” All said with love, of course. Mostlyyubi.

Carson Daly pokes fun at Blake Shelton

Shelton may knock Levine, but Host Carson Daly is known to lob a joke at Shelton from time to time. In November 2024, The Voice’s most decorated champion posted an Instagram picture to promote his new single, and Daly quickly chimed in with a jab: “You look like a real man for once 😂.” But don’t worry: Shelton and Daly are actually very good friends, and this was all in jest.

Carson Daly Pays Tribute to Blake Shelton's Final Episode on 'The Voice'

Clearly, the Coaches are missing Shelton a bit, but he had a good reason for stepping away from The Voice in May 2023. “I think being a stepdad has changed my perspective in that I’m not the first person that I think about anymore,” he told Access Hollywood of his role to wife (and fellow former Coach) Gwen Stefani’s three sons. “Even to the small little things when you go, ‘I think I’ll do this,’ the very next thought is always, ‘Well, wait a minute. How’s that going work?’ Or, ‘What will they think?’ Or, ‘How will that affect a schedule?’”

“I think the only way for me to really do that right is to step away from being committed to something like The Voice that demands a lot of your time,” he continued. “There’s no way around it. If you’re going to do it and do it right, you have to be 150 percent in. And I just feel like those days are behind me for now. I got a more important job.”

Levine, she said, reached out to her after things had ended with a request.

President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, officially has a new gig after being hired by Fox News to host her own new show.

The new gig comes as Lara, who is married to the President’s son, Eric Trump, has been eyeing a new plan for her future after stepping down as the co-chair of the Republican National Convention. Previously, it was said she was eyeing the Florida Senate seat that was vacated by Marco Rubio so he could fulfill his new role as the Secretary of State.

Now, following additional reports that her father-in-law couldn’t “stand her” and made fun of her looks, she has officially landed her new job.

According to reports, she was hired by Fox News for a new show.

The show will be one she hosts solo, after previous appearances on the network.

According to the Associated Press, Trump will be hosting a new weekend show on the network.

The hour-long series, titled “My View with Lara Trump,” will air at 9 p.m. on Saturday nights.

In an announcement by the network, they shared that the show will “focus on the return of common sense to all corners of American life as the country ushers in a new era of practicality.”

The new gig comes after she stepped down as the co-chair of the Republican National Committee.

She started her previous job at the RNC after being elected as co-chair in a unanimous vote on March 8, 2024. She resigned from the post on December 9 of that year, one month after her father-in-law won his second term in the White House.

Prior to the RNC, she had also been a contributor on Fox, making appearances in 2021 and 2022.

The news of her new gig led to mixed reactions on social media, as Fox News fans praised it, but critics called it out.

“Fox News just signed Lara Trump to host a primetime show. Imagine the MAGA Outrage is MSNBC were to pay Hunter Biden for a primetime show during Biden’s presidency,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Zero bias whatsoever. I’m sure she will most definitely call out anything she disagrees with regarding her father-in-law and all her friends,” another said.

“Grifters gonna grift,” a third shared.

“Lara Trump is the poster girl for incompetent DEI hires,” a fourth added.
