‘The Price is Right’: Drew Carey Gets Help From Contestant After Funny Snafu

There are 78 different games currently in rotation on The Price is Right, meaning there are many names, details, and rules host Drew Carey has to keep track of, and it isn’t easy.

On Tuesday’s (January 14) episode, Carey had a forgetful moment as he couldn’t recall the name of the game, “Bullseye,” despite there being a large flashing neon sign bearing the name in front of him.

The Price is Right': Drew Carey Gets Help From Contestant After Funny Snafu

After inviting contestant Christian up to the stage, Carey said, “We’re playing a game called… err, err, err,” before pausing and looking around at the game board for a clue.

“Bullseye!” Christian interrupted, helping the host out. He then turned to the audience and shrugged his shoulders while people laughed at the awkward moment.

“I’m going over the rules in my head,” Carey said in his defense before joking, “Yeah, welcome to The… Price Is Right, everybody!”

The long-time host then explained the rules of the game, which sees a contestant faced with a row of grocery items that cost less than $5 each. The aim is for the contestant to choose one product and tell Carey how many they want, trying to add up the total cost between $10 and $12.

Christian first picked the Vitamin Water, noting that he drinks it regularly. When Carey asked how many he wanted, Christian chose six. Unfortunately, the total came to $13.14, just slightly over the $12 limit.

“Oh! That was super close. Super close,” Carey said before telling Christian to pick another item.

He selected yogurt and, after turning to the audience for advice, chose four. This time, the total came to $11.96, meaning he won a trip to The Berkshires. “Oh my god!” Christian yelled as he ran over and hugged model Manuela Arbaelez in celebration.

Carey then turned to the camera and continued to poke fun at his earlier mishap, saying, “Yeah, we just played… Bullseye!… We’ll be back… to spin the… thing.”

Fans dropped into the YouTube comments to share their reactions to Carey’s blip, with one viewer writing, “Dude threw Drew off his game haha.”

“Drew had a senior moment of sorts and still everybody got a good laugh out of it,” added another.

Price is Right contestant makes obscene gesture before winning $10k on first try

During the latest episode of The Price is Right, Drew Carey was in shock after a contestant won $10,000 on her first try.

A recent Price is Right contestant’s obscene gesture might have given her some luck.

Contestants are starting to win big on rarely-won games and it might be because many fans think they’ve cracked the code to one of the show’s toughest challenges.

During the latest episode of the CBS game show, another player left Drew Carey speechless with their unbelievable luck.

Contestant Janice was chosen after guessing the right price on a flat screen TV.

Once she realized she guessed correctly, she ran up on stage and pledged her love for the host.

“I love you so much,” she said.

Janice’s admiration grew once she realized she was chosen to play the beloved Plinko. She then ran around the stage and screamed in joy.

She admitted: “This is a dream come true.”

The famous game consists of dropping chips down a peg board to win cash prizes.

Before she could guess the price of several grocery items, Carey gave the contestant one to start. To focus on the game, she stored it in a peculiar place. Once she was handed the chip, she placed it in her bra.

Her gesture caused a burst of laughs from the crowd and a humored look from the host.

It seems her holding spot might have given her luck as she was able to guess the right price to two items, giving her three tries to play and win.

She didn’t need the extra chances as she won big on her first try.

Janice walked up the flight of stairs and placed her first chip on the board. Most people don’t get lucky during the classic game but that was the case for the contestant.

Her chip made it to the bottom and slid into the $10,000. She shocked the audience and Carey who responded: “That’s unbelievable.”

The play even stunned Janice as she asked: “Did I just win $10,000? Seriously?”

She jumped up and down before continuing to play and receiving another $1,000 from her other two chips.

Her luck continued later on in the show when she spun the Big Wheel and landed on the $1, which means she won an additional $1,000, a Bonus Spin and a spot in The Showcase.

Unfortunately, she did not win the final round but she still went home with $22,000.

Whoopi Goldberg Tells ‘The View’ That She Wants to Replace Pat Sajak on ‘Wheel of Fortune’: “I Want That Job”

Whoopi Goldberg is looking to get back to her game show days! After news that beloved host Pat Sajak would be retiring from Wheel of Fortune following its 41st season, The View moderator revealed that she would be up for the job.

The View's Whoopi Goldberg fights for Wheel of Fortune hosting gig- and she has Jeopardy's Ken Jennings' support | The US Sun

The conversation was sparked during this morning’s episode of the hit daytime talk show as the panel interviewed another famed game show host, Ken Jennings — who took over Jeopardy! alongside Mayim Bialik after the death of longtime host Alex Trebek.

(Editor’s Note: The View is currently on hiatus. This article was originally published on June 13, 2023.)

“Pat’s a legend. I mean, over 40 years? And the price of a vowel has not gone up one penny. Like, nobody controls inflation like Pat Sajak,” Jennings said of Sajak’s impending retirement.

As for who he thinks should take over on Wheel of Fortune, Jennings declined to name anyone directly.

Jeopardy! had its own succession crisis,” he said, referring to the nearly two years it took for the show to officially hire a replacement for Trebek. “Hopefully, Wheel’s got an envelope somewhere that says what to do when Pat packs it in.”

Meanwhile, Goldberg — who starred in and executive produced the game show Hollywood Squares from 1998 to 2002 — expressed her interest in getting back into the scene.

“I want that job. I think it would be lots of fun,” she admitted, before Joy Behar joked, “Sara [Haines] and I can be Vanna White. We’ll take turns walking back and forth and pointing to the letters.”

Kelly Ripa Admits To Vanna White That She Thought ‘Wheel Of Fortune’s Pat Sajak Was Her Husband: “I Think I Speak For A Lot Of People”

On this morning’s episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa and Mark Consuelos welcomed White onto the show, where she opened up about taking her “final spin” with her longtime co-host, who is retiring after the show’s current season.

“I can’t think about it,” she told Ripa and Consuelos. “After 41 years together? It’s hard.”

When Ripa asked White if she and Sajak plan to mark his last spin as “a very memorable moment,” White replied that they “have not discussed it.”

“I mean, you guys are married and everything, you know how this works,” White continued. “We’ve been together for so long, when he walks up the stairs, I can tell what kind of a mood he’s in!”

Ripa admitted, “For years, I mean, I think I speak for a lot of people, I thought you and Pat were married. Imagine my surprise when Pat came to our house for dinner one night —”

Consuelos interjected, “And you weren’t there!”

Ripa continued, “I was like, ‘Oh my god! Pat and Vanna must have gotten divorced!’”

As White and the audience burst into laughter, Ripa and Consuelos then dished on her soon-to-be co-host, Ryan Seacrest, who has co-hosted with the both of them on Live previously.

“You have to tell me everything!” White exclaimed.

Consuelos chimed in to inform White that Seacrest “can’t spell,” which Ripa jokingly affirmed. He then asked White if she has “received texts” from him yet that may have proven as such.

White said she has, but guessed Seacrest may be trying to be “on his best behavior” with her.

Ripa then quipped,”Maybe he’s dictating the texts and somebody’s typing it for him. Because, I will say — and I can say this freely, we have all experienced it here — when Ryan Seacrest texts you, you say to yourself, ‘This person is trying to tell me something.’ That’s the first thing. It’s that you realize that Ryan is trying to tell you something, but oftentimes, you just don’t know what that is!”

White thanked them for the humorous warning, which may suggest some more work for her behind the letter board next season.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ icon Vanna White reveals the only time Pat Sajak made her cry: “It was over…”

“Wheel of Fortune” has consistently maintained its popularity on TV screens for decades, and has delivered moments etched in the memories of fans. Hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White are also remembered as an iconic duo synonymous with the show. Over the years the two have shared some great moments on stage and some of those were quite emotional.

Screenshot showing Vanna White and Pat Sajak hugging on stage (Screenshot showing Vanna White and Pat Sajak hugging on stage (Image source: YouTube/Wheel Of Fortune)

In 2022, during the celebration of White’s 40th anniversary with the show, the team organized a special event with White taking the centre stage with decorations themed around her long run. As Sajak congratulated her on the achievement. “Folks, it was 40 years ago on this very date that this young lady walked into the studio trembling, and did her first Wheel of Fortune. And here she is. Happy 40th, my dear,” Sajak said.

White couldn’t hold back her tears, as she thanked Sajak and her team for organizing the special event.

Sajak’s remark about White trembling in her first episode is rather notable, as it almost became the reason for White’s rejection after her audition. When White was being considered for the co-host role in 1982, Sajak didn’t think that she was a good fit for the stage.

“I didn’t recommend Vanna, and Vanna knows this,” Sajak told CBS Sunday Morning in 2020. “Not that she wasn’t lovely and wonderful and personable and all that. But she was the most nervous, by far, of any of them,” he added.

Luckily, the creator of “Wheel of Fortune,” Merv Griffin saw things differently. Griffin insisted that White was the right choice and he even told Sajak that they would “make a great brother-sister team”.
Screenshot showing Pat Sajak and Vanna White in the early days of Wheel of Fortune (Image source: YouTube/Wheel Of Fortune)Screenshot showing Pat Sajak and Vanna White in the early days of Wheel of Fortune (Image source: YouTube/Wheel Of Fortune)
Griffin’s vision was proven right as the two co-hosts created history in more than 40 years as co-hosts. They developed a very strong relationship off the set as well and have insisted on always being platonic, despite rumors of a romance doing the rounds from time to time.

Their work relationship was so strong that they never had an argument over anything. Despite working together for over four decades, White could recall all but one argument that the co-hosts ever had. Appearing on the Drew Barrymore show, White shared, “We’ve never had one argument — OK, we had one. It was over putting ketchup on a hot dog.”

She then asked Barrymore if she puts ketchup on her hotdog to which the host replied, that she prefers mustard. “Well, anyway, that’s what he said. ‘You do not put ketchup on your hot dog!’” White recalled.

While that was the only argument, there are two instances where Sajak made White cry on camera. In late 2019, when Sajak had to undergo emergency surgery, White stepped up to help by hosting a few episodes alone for the first time in the show’s history.

They have also created some of the most heartwarming moments together as well. In 2022, Sajak ran off stage to get White a bouquet of flowers. “You know, all these years, I’ve never brought you a lovely bouquet,” Sajak said at the time as per Good Housekeeping. And, to say the least, they have made each other shed tears as well.

Later in June 2023, things went a little further on the emotional scale. When Sajak announced his retirement from the show after its 41st season, White expressed the urge to leave the show as well.

White now continues to carry on Sajak’s legacy alongside his successor, Ryan Seacrest. However, Sajak has made a fair share of surprise appearances since his retirement.

Ryan Seacrest Sidelined: ‘Wheel of Fortune’ on Hold After ‘Ratings Gold’ Report

When Ryan Seacrest took over as host of “Wheel of Fortune” in September 2024, millions tuned in, giving the iconic game show a ratings boost after Pat Sajak’s retirement. But only time would tell if the longtime “American Idol” host could keep up the momentum.

Four months into his new role, Seacrest has received his first official report card and the news couldn’t be better. On January 6, 2025, the LA Times reported that during Seacrest’s first quarter of hosting “Wheel of Fortune,” he delivered “ratings gold.”

But the next day, wildfires began to burn across Los Angeles as high winds blew in, devastating and displacing entire communities while forcing many Hollywood shows — including “Wheel of Fortune” — to shut down production.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Tapings On Hold, But Tickets Available for Late January

Vanna White, Ryan SeacrestGettyVanna White and Ryan Seacrest attend the “Wheel of Fortune” season 42 celebration at Santa Monica Pier on August 30, 2024
On January 13, with firefighters still fighting to contain the largest blazes and winds picking up again, The Wrap reported that “Wheel of Fortune” would not tape as planned at its Culver City studio. The outlet said other temporarily shut-down game shows include “The Price is Right” and “Jeopardy!”

Though no one is sure when it will be possible to continue filming, the “Wheel of Fortune” website now has Seacrest and his co-host, longtime letter-turner Vanna White, scheduled to tape new shows beginning on January 29.

When they do return to the studio, they’ll do so knowing they’ve been doing something right, given the ratings they pulled in during not only their highly-promoted first week as a team, but also their first quarter of working together.

When Seacrest replaced Sajak, who retired in June 2024 after 41 seasons, his premiere episode drew 9.63 million curious “Wheel” watchers, per the Hollywood Reporter, making it the most-watched season premiere in nine years.

During the rest of Seacrest’s first week, an average of 8.31 million people tuned in to each episode, the outlet reported. Those ratings equaled a “double-digit percentage increase in viewership in every key demo” over Sajak’s last season, per TV Insider.

But the best news for Seacrest is that viewership has remained high since his debut, per the LA Times, which said that during his first quarter on the show, his episodes earned an average of 7.9 million viewers through December 1. That’s a significant three-percent increase over the previous season’s ratings, with 58 million people tuning in during Seacrest’s first quarter, the outlet said.

Pat Sajak Made a Funny Cameo in 50th Anniversary ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Promo Before Wildfires

Hours before the first fires began to spread in Los Angeles, the “Wheel of Fortune” social media account shared a video hosted by Seacrest, introducing fans to many of the people who work behind-the-scenes on the show — and including a funny cameo from Sajak.

Created in honor of the game show’s 50th anniversary, Seacrest walked around the building giving shout outs to the audience coordinator, camera operators, production team, art department and then nonchalantly pointed out “our former host.”

“Hey Pat,” he said, as Sajak appeared standing nearby, inexplicably scarfing down a sandwich as the audience laughed. White appeared, too, linking arms with Seacrest backstage before they headed out to the stage as the audience applauded.

Fans adored the video, with hundreds commenting on Instagram, including one who wrote, “Omgeee! I love Pat eating a sandwich surprise❤️ this show is just so much fun and I just love watching you guys ~you make my evenings🥰”

“Now you’ve really won me over Ryan,” another viewer wrote. “Appreciation of your work family! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽♥️♥️”

Next up, Seacrest hopes to continue to deliver ratings magic on “American Idol,” which he’s already begun taping with Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and new judge Carrie Underwood. Season 23 is scheduled to premiere on ABC on March 9.

Revealed: The REAL reason that President-elect Donald Trump refused to take part in a “Saturday Night Live” sketch

Trump’s Vain Reason For Nixing ‘Saturday Night Live’ Sketch Is Finally Revealed

The reason that President-elect Donald Trump refused to take part in a “Saturday Night Live” sketch when he hosted the show in 2015 has finally been revealed.

Trump was supposed to wear a tree costume and stand “next to the Giving Tree, the Shel Silverstein character who gives and gives of herself until she’s reduced to a stump,” The New Yorker’s Susan Morrison wrote in a profile of “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels that published Monday.

Trump's Vain Reason For Nixing 'Saturday Night Live' Sketch Is Finally Revealed

Trump would have ended the bit mocking the Giving Tree as “a sucker,” said Morrison.

But the then-presidential hopeful nixed the segment “not because it portrayed him as heartless but because he worried that the tree costume made him look fat,” she explained in a lengthy piece on Michaels, the 50 years of the show and the mechanics of how the weekly program comes together.

Trump hosted the show in November 2015, a year before he defeated Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

In his monologue, above, Trump bombastically declared his apperance would be “something special,” teased his “a lot of people schtick” and took aim at Rosie O’Donnell, with whom he has had a yearslong feud. Trump also mocked then-Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and danced to Drake’s “Hotline Bling.”

For Trump’s 2004 hosting, he danced with cast members dressed as chickens.

When the show celebrated its 15th anniversary in 1998, he appeared in the audience and was dumped with popcorn by Chevy Chase.

“SNL” alum Seth Meyers, who now hosts NBC’s “Late Night,” in 2019 recalled working alongside Trump for his hosting debut.

“It was fascinating to be around him,” Meyers, a longtime critic of the returning president, told radio host Howard Stern. Trump “was everything you would think; he didn’t have any sense of humor, but if things worked, he liked them.”

David Schwimmer Ticked Off ‘Saturday Night Live’ Writers And Had No Idea Why

The “Friends” star recalled getting an icy reception from “SNL” staffers when he guest-hosted the show in 1995.

David Schwimmer said Monday he got a hostile reception from “Saturday Night Live” writers when he appeared on the comedy show decades ago ― and for a long time, he didn’t know why. (Watch the video below.)

It was October 1995. Fame was blooming for Schwimmer and his castmates, but it was Schwimmer who became the first to host the comedy sketch series. He shot an episode of “Friends” in Los Angeles on Tuesday night ― as they did back in the day ― and arrived in New York on Thursday ready to prepare for the live “SNL” show.

“When I walked into the writer’s room, the entire writing staff looked at me as if I had just slept with their mom or something,” he told host Stephen Colbert on “The Late Show.” “They were not happy to see me, and I had no idea.”

The actor said he got through the short week and live broadcast while “traumatized.”

David Schwimmer reveals the SNL hosting mistake he made that left him 'traumatized'

“It wasn’t until years later that I was talking to somebody else who hosted the show and they said no, you’re supposed to show up on a Monday,” he said. “No one told me.”

Schwimmer said he would “try not to blame all my reps” for the “one big mistake.”

The “Goosebumps: The Vanishing” actor fast-forwarded to present day, saying he’d received an email inviting him to the 50th anniversary special of “SNL” in February.

“It’s been 30 years, and I’m thinking maybe they forgot that they don’t like me, or it’s just some intern that’s tasked with emailing everyone who’s ever hosted. But I don’t know what to do,” Schwimmer confessed.

After some back and forth, it appears the actor might attend with Northwestern University pal Colbert, who briefly worked as a freelance “SNL” writer, as his plus-one.

Another happy ending in show business.

Fast-forward to 2:30 to hear Schwimmer recall his awkward “SNL” moment:

Unlike most SNL promos, centered on banter between host, musical guest and cast members, today’s heralding the return of Dave Chappelle relied on voiceover, either from Morgan Freeman himself or intended to make that impression.

“Studio 8H. New York City’s hallowed comedy ground,” our narrator says, as the camera tracks through the smoky hallways of SNL‘s home base. “A 50-year tradition of laughter at Saturday Night Live.”

The voiceover goes on to note that “All the greats have passed through these halls…Also, Steven Seagal. And this Saturday…Dave’s back.” The camera pans past walls covered with photos of hosts from yesteryear before landing on Chappelle, seated on a stool on the SNL stage.

SNL' Takes Jab At Steven Seagal In Promo Heralding Dave Chappelle's Return

The jab at Seagal makes sense, given the action star’s rocky history with the late-night sketch series. Over the years, numerous cast members have joined the show’s creator and producer, Lorne Michaels, in opining that Seagal is among the worst hosts in its history, due to his difficult behavior in his sole outing in April 1991.

Chappelle comes back to SNL following three November hosting gigs. He addressed the country following the weighty presidential elections of 2016 and 2020, before returning in 2022. The comic is joined for this week’s episode by musical guest GloRilla, who’s coming off of a pair of Grammy nominations for her single “Yeah Glo!”. The following week, Timothée Chalamet will return to host for the third time, also serving as the rare non-pro musical guest.
