Maggie gives an update on ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ amid rumors about her taking over the Vanna White’s position

‘Wheel Of Fortune’: Pat Sajak’s Daughter Maggie On How Show Has Been ‘Huge Part’ Of Her Life

Maggie Sajak is continuing her dad Pat Sajak’s “Wheel of Fortune” legacy as the show’s social media correspondent! She’s a huge part of “Wheel’s” future along with new host Ryan Seacrest, and she’s even filled in for Vanna White! Maggie gave Access Hollywood an exclusive tour of the set to celebrate “Wheel’s” 50th anniversary. “Wheel of Fortune” airs weekdays on ABC; check your local listings.

Pat Sajak is “the best dad in the world” to daughter Maggie Sajak, who’s learned plenty from the TV icon about making her own mark on Wheel of Fortune.

“Being able to work with him for the last couple years, he’s taught me so much about just how to balance family and work and to just keep a really good head on your shoulders,” Maggie, 29, exclusively told Us Weekly at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Saturday, September 21. “We really are, like, that close; he’s really my hero.”

Maggie further gave Us the best pieces of advice that she’s received from her father.

“He always stresses being prepared and doing the best you can in whatever situation you’re in, because you never know what you’re going to be thrown into,” she explained. “He’s like, ‘Just do the best you can wherever you are, [and] if it’s a little moment every interaction you have, make it special for the contestants, especially when we’re on the show.’”

Pat, 77, hosted Wheel of Fortune for 41 years, ultimately retiring in June. Maggie, whom Pat shares with wife Lesly Brown alongside son Patrick, joined Wheel of Fortune in 2021 as the official social correspondent.

“[As] the social correspondent for the show, we do fun behind-the-scenes things and we get to come to fun things like the iHeartRadio Music Festival,” Maggie told Us, noting her intentions to uphold her father’s game show legacy. “I mean, the show means so much to me and to my family, so we’re always gonna want that to stay so special and it will. It is in great hands so we’re excited to see where it goes.”

Ryan Seacrest is the new host of Wheel of Fortune, with Maggie telling Us that “he’s awesome” in the role.

“It’s great,” Maggie gushed at the Las Vegas festival. “He’s so professional — as I’m sure you would assume — but he really appreciates the show and knows how important it is. You can really tell by how prepared he is and how he treats the contestants and how he treats the whole experience.”

After watching her father’s tenure and joining herself several years ago, Maggie also got to see how special Wheel of Fortune is to viewers and contestants.

“It’s such a special show to so many people and it’s more than just a show, which sounds kinda cheesy, but it really is,” Maggie told Us. “I mean, this is bonding among generations. This is the time that families eat dinner together. … So, when people have come up to my dad or told me how special the show is to them, it goes beyond just ‘I love that show,’ and to be a part of it now is really meaningful to me.”

Maggie also sees Pat’s longtime cohost Vanna White, who remains on the show with Seacrest, as part of the Sajak family.

“We jokingly say she’s Aunt Vanna, but I have known her since before I was born,” Maggie quipped. “She’s great [and] I love being able to see her now at work. We have a lot of fun; I pull her into TikToks I’m doing and things like that.”

She continued, “She really is such an icon, such a legend and such a great person too. She’s as sweet as she seems.”

‘Wheel of Fortune’ Fans Are Coming After Ryan Seacrest Following Another Controversial Ruling

Ryan Seacrest is getting some negative attention after a Wheel of Fortune contestant’s answer was ruled correct by the host despite adding extra words to their response.

The 50-year-old host confused viewers of the game show on Friday, January 10, after contestant Kiana Moreland attempted to solve a puzzle during the Express Round of the game show under the “Living Things” category.

    The puzzle in question read: “A A R D V A R K S / A N D / A N _ E _ _ _ E S.” When entering her answer, the contestant asked, “Is it aardvarks and antelopes?” Seacrest paused for a moment and then declared that Moreland’s response was correct.

Ryan Seacrest Fans of the show argued that the addition of “is it” to her answer made it incorrect. Some viewers took to the Wheel of Fortune Reddit sub to discuss the ruling.

One user made a post about the ordeal and wrote, “I thought the whole ‘adding any extra words’ thing was universal to all puzzles,” before asking, “Does this sort of thing happen often?” Fans of the game show responded to the post with their opinions.

“I’ve had the feeling that the Wheel and Jeopardy judges have both been a tiny bit more lenient ever since their new hosts have taken over. Just coincidental timing I imagine. People like to see other people win money, they may be giving people the benefit of the doubt,” wrote one fan. A second added, “I was waiting for Ryan to say, ‘Sorry, that is not correct,’ especially since he hesitated a few seconds before responding that it was a correct solve.”

A third fan looked into the official rules and wrote, “In all cases, the judges will try and give the ‘benefit of the doubt’ to the contestant solving the puzzle, taking into consideration speech impediments, regional dialects, nervous contestants, and studio conditions. Each case will be evaluated individually, and the decision of the judges will be final,” before adding, “I do not think the rest of the rules indicate that should have been taken, but if the judges say it’s fine, it’s fine.”

Wheel of Fortune fans slam Ryan Seacrest over ruling - TV - Entertainment - Daily Express US

The host of the show was most recently blamed for costing a contestant $13K during an episode that aired on December 17. Wheel fans argued that Seacrest should have reminded the contestant that he could buy a vowel instead of guessing the puzzle incorrectly and losing out on potential winnings.

Seacrest took over as host of Wheel in September following Pat Sajak’s retirement after 41 years of hosting the game show.

SNL Colin Jost makes stuns as he talks about Biden, Trump’s legal woes

White House Correspondents’ Dinner host Colin Jost jokes about Biden’s age, Trump’s legal woes

“Saturday Night Live” cast member Colin Jost headlined the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday night, and like some of the comedians before him, he delivered some jokes that were perhaps slightly too edgy for the crowd in Washington, D.C.

Colin Jost's Best White House Correspondents' Dinner Jokes

“We’re all here tonight at nerd prom. Well, Matt Gaetz is at regular prom,” Jost said, in a not-so-subtle reference to allegations that the Florida Republican had sex with a 17-year-old (Gaetz has vehemently denied the allegations, and the Justice Department closed its investigation without filing charges).

The comedian made some gentle barbs at President Joe Biden and the media, and then some more about Trump, joking that both presidential candidates are so old that “Jimmy Carter is out there thinking, ‘I could maybe win this thing.’”

Jost also brought up Trump’s legal troubles and touched on the differences between the two candidates. “The Republican candidate for president owes half a billion in fines for bank fraud and is currently spending his days farting himself awake during a porn star hush money trial, and the race is tied?” Jost asked incredulously. “The candidate who is a famous New York City playboy took abortion rights away, and the guy who’s trying to give you your abortion rights back is an 80-year-old Catholic. How does that make sense?”

President Biden and Colin Jost's Best Jokes From the White House Correspondents' Dinner

Lara Trump, the recently minted Republican National Committee co-chair who was in attendance, was also singled out. Jost joked about her cover of Tom Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down,” saying, “I can’t believe I’m saying this to a member of the Trump family, but maybe stick to politics.”

Jost did inject some earnestness into his speech at the end, telling Biden that his late grandfather had voted for him “because you’re a decent man.”

Jost follows a long line of comedians who have roasted the president at the annual dinner. Not everyone has the stomach for it, though. Former President Donald Trump, who attended the dinner as a guest in 2011, was mocked so ruthlessly by then-President Barack Obama that it “accelerated his ferocious efforts to gain stature within the political world,” The New York Times reported in 2016.

Trump never attended the event as president — the only president to do so since Calvin Coolidge  though he was still brutally roasted in absentia.

Colin Jost goes in to kiss Michael Che on SNL’s “Weekend Update”

On last night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, new featured player Sarah Sherman appeared alongside Colin Jost on the “Weekend Update” segment. Sherman dropped a number of bombshell allegations against Jost during her appearance, at one point hi-jacking the segment to announce, “Local sex bigot Colin Jost violently rejects radical act of queer interracial love.”

But even when Jost gives in and goes in to kiss co-host Michael Che, he’s slammed again: “Breaking news, queerbaiting Update anchor Colin Jost pretends to be gay for laughs!”

Sherman, a Long Island-originating comedian also known as “Sarah Squirm,” initially appeared on the segment to talk about how to stay warm during the winter. Instead, she went off topic and instead slammed Jost for trying to police her body hair, sexually harassing her, and refusing to give her money to donate to charity.

When Jost says Sherman’s remarks are “disgusting,” Sherman shoots back: “You know what’s disgusting, the cost of housing in New York, Colin! Yeah! Can you believe I have to pay $200 a month?”

When Jost asks where she’s paying $200 a month, Sherman drops “breaking news” that “Hamptons homeowner Colin Jost mocks struggling comedian for finding a good deal by living in his dog house.”

Jost asks what Sherman wants from him, she responds, “Six thousand dollars.”

When he refuses, Sherman reads “other news” revealing that “Wealth-Hoarding Hollywood Husband Colin Jost has not a dime to spare for SNL‘s underpaid rookie, even though she was going to donate that money to St. Jude’s Hospital.”

Then, Sherman goes to “another thing” she wants to slam Jost for: his relationship with Michael Che: “It’s always ‘will they, won’t they’ with you two! Right? Why don’t you just get it over with and make out already?”

    Colin Jost

Jost protests amidst cheering from the audience, saying, “I’m not kissing Che.”

“Wrong answer!” Sherman hits back, then going to news “just in” to “Update,” revealing Jost “rejects queer love,” next to a graphic of him waving a burning Pride flag.

“You are so small minded, Colin,” Che chides him.

That’s when Jost offers to kiss Che, but it’s Che that rejects him. Then the queerbaiting allegations are dropped. (Queerbaiting is best defined as someone feigning interest in same-sex romances to capitalize on both a lack of representation of, and a growing support for, LGBTQ people — especially in media.)

“Damn, Colin, you are the worst,” Che concludes.

“I want you guys to kiss!” Sherman proclaims before exiting the stage.

Last night’s episode, hosted by former SNL cast member Will Forte and featuring Italian rock band Måneskin, also included former cast member Kristen Wiig, show executive producer Lorne Michaels, and next week’s host Willem DaFoe as guests.

Forte and Wiig, who pioneered the sketch “MacGruber” on the show, reprised the sketch that has since become the basis for multiple films and is now a TV series on Peacock. Ryan Phillippe, father to out model Ava Phillippe, also guest appeared in the sketches, which mocked anti-vaxxers and QAnon followers.

For the cold open, out cast member Kate McKinnon reprised her role as FOX News host Laura Ingraham, while fellow out cast member Bowen Yang also appeared on “Update” as faux Chinese Trade Minister Chen Biao to talk about the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Elon Musk criticizes Dana Carvey’s performance on Saturday Night Live, says ‘SNL’ is ‘so mad’

Elon Musk says ‘SNL’ is ‘so mad’ Trump won as he slams Dana Carvey’s impression

Is imitation the sincerest form of flattery? Not for Elon Musk, at least when it comes to “Saturday Night Live.”

The Tesla CEO, who hosted “SNL” in 2021, slammed the show on social media Sunday, the day after Dana Carvey debuted an impression of him.

” ‘SNL’ has been dying slowly for years, as they become increasingly out of touch with reality,” Musk wrote in response to a clip of the segment.

“Their last-ditch effort to cheat the equal airtime requirements and prop up Kamala before the election only helped sink her campaign further,” he added, referring to Vice President Kamala Harris’ cameo on the show before Election Day.

After Harris’ appearance, NBC filed a notice with the Federal Communications Commission and said it would provide Republican nominee Donald Trump equal time. The former president addressed viewers during a NASCAR Cup playoff race that aired on the network the following day.

Dana Carvey, center front, debuted his impression of Elon Musk during the Nov. 9 episode of "Saturday Night Live."

In another X post, Musk criticized Carvey’s performance, writing, “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.” He also said “they are so mad that” Trump won the election and agreed with a user who claimed more people have seen the sketch on X than on “SNL.”

‘SNL’ stars jokingly support Trump:Dana Carvey plays Elon Musk

In the Nov. 9 episode’s cold open, the cast of “SNL” jokingly claimed to have been supporters of Trump all along in order to avoid being on his list of enemies when he begins his second term.

Near the end of the sketch, Kenan Thompson sarcastically said that in a worst case scenario, “We can all go to Mars with the other man that we love and trust,” Musk.

Carvey then entered as the billionaire, wearing a black “Make America Great Again” hat. He jumped around the stage and put his fists in the air, declaring, “I run the country now. America’s going to be like one of my rockets: They’re super-cool and super-fun, but there’s a slight chance it could blow up and everybody dies.”

Why it matters:Trump’s new ‘star’ Elon Musk joins his first call with Ukrainian president

Musk hosted “SNL” in 2021, and the decision to have him on drew some backlash. In a review at the time, NPR’s Eric Deggans said the appearance was only “so-so” and that it was “disappointing” creator Lorne Michaels “once again allowed a problematic public figure to burnish his image by hosting the show, only to deliver an episode unworthy of all the hype and hot takes.” Trump also hosted “SNL” in 2015 amid his run for president.

Elon Musk reacts to 'SNL' impression: "They are so mad Trump won"

Musk has previously said on X that “SNL” has “become so woke” and is “so rarely funny these (days).”

The SpaceX founder wasn’t the first person to criticize a sketch poking fun at them on “SNL” this season.

In October, Liam Gallagher slammed the show for a “Weekend Update” segment where the Oasis frontman, played by Sarah Sherman, bickered with his brother Noel (James Austin Johnson). On X, Gallagher asked if “they (are) meant to be comedians” and called Sherman’s impression of him “excruciating.”

Timothée Chalamet will return to “Saturday Night Live” for his third stint as a host — but this time, he’ll be pulling double duty.

NBC announced Friday that comedian Dave Chappelle will host the sketch show Jan. 18, with musical guest GloRilla, while Chalamet will be the host and musical guest on Jan. 25.

It’s Chappelle’s fourth time hosting. The trio of announced performers are all in the thick of awards season. Chappelle and GloRilla, one of The Associated Press’ Breakthrough Entertainers of 2024, are each nominated for Grammys at the Feb. 2 show. Chalamet has been nominated for a slew of acting awards for “A Complete Unknown” and is considered a contender for the Oscars, whose nominations will be announced Jan. 19.

For “A Complete Unknown,” Chalamet sang and learned to play the guitar and harmonica to embody Bob Dylan. It’s not clear what the actor will sing during the live show (he also sang in “Wonka” and dedicated fans may be hoping for a “Statistics” reprise), but he did previously identify to which Dylan songs he was drawn.

“I like the more intimate songs like ‘Girl From the North Country’ or ‘Boots of Spanish Leather’ or ‘One Too Many Mornings’ or ‘Tomorrow Is a Long Time,’” he told the AP late last year. “But then I also liked ‘North Country Blues’ and ‘Rocks and Gravel’ or ‘Ballad of Hollis Brown’ — things where you hear the iron ore in Bob’s voice, the North Country in Minnesota, the Hibbing.”

Dylan himself has appeared on “SNL” — once, as the musical guest, in 1979. Current cast member James Austin Johnson, who portrayed Dylan in a skit earlier this season, briefly appears in “A Complete Unknown.”

“SNL” is in the midst of celebrating its 50th season. The show will return in the middle of February to celebrate its anniversary over a weekend, including a Sunday night live broadcast of “SNL50: The Anniversary Special” on Feb. 16.

Drew Carey has been the face of The Price Is Right for nearly 17 years. During that time, viewers have seen him undergo various changes in appearance. Most notably, he’s lost a lot of weight in that time. However, that isn’t what a recent contestant on the show pointed out.

“What’s up man, nice to see you! Welcome to the show,” Drew said, shaking David’s hand. The contestant replied, “Thank you so much,” and then spoke about his job as a barber.

Viewers called out a model from The Price Is Right for what they felt were “fake” and “annoying” reactions during a game.

The popular game show, hosted by Drew Carey, also features models, including Manuela Arbelaez, Amber Lancaster, Rachel Reynolds, Alexis Gaube, and Devin Goda.

They regularly appear on the show in various rotations to help present the games and prizes.

Contestants often celebrate their wins with Drew and the nearby models with hugs, handshakes, and high-fives.

However, some fans called attention to a model during an episode earlier this week.

It featured what some consider a “tricky” game for The Price Is Right contestant.

TPIR contestant played a challenging game due to item prices

The Price Is Right’s Tuesday episode included a contestant playing the game Hole In One, which involves several challenges.

The main aspect involves making a putt on a fake golf green set up on stage. The contestant gets their putt from a closer spot based on how well they price items in the game.

If they make the shot, the contestant wins a big prize, such as a new car.

On Tuesday’s episode, a contestant named Lorena played the game for a chance to win a new Honda Civic Sport.

TPIR’s models Alexis and Rachel were on stage to present the car and the other items Lorena had to guess prices for.
screengrab of hole in one game from the price is right 2024 episode with drew and modelsHost Drew Carey on stage with a contestant and models Rachel and Alexis for Hole In One. Pic credit: CBS
She had to rank six items in the game from most to least expensive. They included a box of organic waffles, car cleaner, a bag of trail mix, Primatene Mist asthma relief, Sriracha spread, and Pilot erasable marker pens.

As she guessed each product from least to most expensive, the models arranged their flags at the corresponding lines on the golf green.

One by one, they revealed each item’s price on the flags. Lorena correctly guessed the first three items with prices under $10. However, Alexis then revealed $25.20 for a set of erasable marker pens by Pilot, seemingly indicating that would end the correct guesses.

After showing the item’s price to the contestant, audience, and viewers, she first made a surprised “O” face. She then changed her expression to the one shown below after the reveal.
screengrab of model alexis gaube during the price is right episode 2024Alexis reacted to a contestant’s incorrect guess for a price on The Price Is Right. Pic credit: CBS
Even Drew was shocked by the item’s price. It ended her correct guesses, but he told Lorena she did well by getting closer to the hole for her putt than others recently had. She attempted the shot from only a few lines away.

She was close enough to sink the putt and win herself a car worth over $26,000. After the win, models Alexis and Rachel applauded, then joined Lorena next to her new car to celebrate.

Viewers called out TPIR model for her reactions during the game show

In a Reddit post, an individual uploaded a close-up shot of Alexis’s face from the abovementioned moment and said it was a “tricky” game due to the items and that her expression summed it up. However, other fans reacted differently to her expression.

“She’s just the worst. Not trying to be mean but I really dislike her. All the others are wonderful, she’s just way too fake with those facial reactions – like chill,” a critic commented.

The downvoted comment received multiple replies, including one who said they disagreed and liked all of the show’s models.

Another commenter agreed and said they find her “really annoying” during the game show.

Alexis regularly appears on the game show along with the other models mentioned. According to her The Price Is Right bio, she’s the newest of the models on the game show, having joined in 2021.

She’s appeared in campaigns for Target, Jockey, and Kohl’s. Alexis also appeared as a model in the soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful several times.

Contestant Zaniya received a chance to play Time is Money after she guessed closest to the actual price of a Nordic Track exercise bike.

Last but certainly not least, The Price Is Right contestant estimated the gym equipment cost $1,700 – the highest bid among the four eager players.

As Drew revealed the “actual retail price” of $2,079, Zaniya began excitedly jumping up and down yelling “That’s me!” as her podium lit up and began to ring.

In her excitement, Zaniya’s name tag flew off, and without noticing, she ran onto the stage, leaving it behind, as she yelled at the top of her lungs.

One of the players still standing behind the podium picked up the name tag and handed it to Zaniya.

While still yelling, the Michigan-based player accepted her tag, briefly waving it around, before hurrying to join Drew on stage.

Once there, Zaniya held up her name tag for the camera and studio audience to see as The Price is Right host assured her that he wouldn’t forget her name.

“I won’t forget your name. We’ll get you another name tag later for a souvenir,” Drew said.

    PICKING FAVORITES

Recently, The Price Is Right viewers claimed the game show was fixed after a contestant won a trip of a lifetime.

Fans took their grievance online as many claimed that Drew allows the players he likes to win.

A contestant on a recent episode had to pick bags that each had dollar amounts on them.

If she picked the right ones, and it balanced out with the Morocco bag, she would win a trip there.

Letitia got emotional when she revealed that she had been planning a trip with her daughter, who lives in Spain, to Morocco for years.

“Well, then it’s meant to be, baby,” Drew said before adding, “Good luck.”

Letitia picked the $6,000 and the $4,000 bags to make the total $10,625.

Model Rachel put the Morocco bag on the other side of the scale and it moved up and down until it stopped perfectly balanced.

The bags Letitia picked and the Morocco bag evened out, causing her to win the trip.

She hugged Drew who said, “She’s going to see her daughter in Morocco! That’s amazing.”

Even Rachel admitted it was meant to be.

However, game show fans thought the show was rigged and Drew let people he likes win.

The clip was posted to Instagram and fans sounded off in the comments.

“Sometimes I think they just give people they like the win,” one user said.

“Funny. Because I thought the same way also,” replied a fan.

“WTF,” wrote another fan with a thumbs-down emoji.

    STAYING PUT

Earlier this week, Drew revealed his future with the game show.

Since Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak’s retirement, Drew, 66, has become the longest-serving host of a game show currently airing.

In a new interview, the host of The Price Is Right provided an update on his contract with CBS.

While speaking with TV Insider, Drew discussed the major hosting milestone, shocking show moments, and whether he would ever retire.

    The Price Is Right Hosts

The Price Is Right first came on TV in 1972. Fans fell in love with the game show so much that it has been on for over 50 years. Throughout that time, the show has had a few different hosts. Find out who they are below.

Bob Barker – 1972 to June 2007 (also became executive producer in 1988)

Drew Carey – October 2007 to present

Dennis James – filled in for Bob in 1974 when he missed four episodes and also hosted the nighttime version

Craig Ferguson – 2014 April Fools Day Special

“I just show up and punch the clock and hope I have a job every day,” he said.

“I do have a goal: I want to keep going until I die. This is my 18th season. I’ve got to get the 35 and 41 so I can catch Bob Barker and Pat Sajak.”

Bob Barker hosted The Price Is Right from September 4, 1972, until June 15, 2007 – the same year Drew took the reigns.

“The longest I’d been on TV was The Drew Carey Show, nine years. Once I hit 10 years here, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s the longest I’ve ever had a job in my life,” Drew continued.

“It’s such just a great part of my day, my year, my life. I can’t imagine giving it up.’

“I don’t like CBS to know that, but it’s going to be a few years ’til my next contract negotiation. So maybe forget I said this.

“I can quit anytime I want!”

In a Reddit forum dedicated to The Price Is Right, fans discussed Drew’s vow to host for as long as he can.

“I’m ok with this. I didn’t think anyone could fill Bob’s shoes. But Drew has been wonderful,” one person wrote.

“He brings so much light and love to the show!!” a second fan shared.

“He’s the perfect host. You can tell he really enjoys the games and meeting people,” someone else commented.

“I remember thinking in 2007 that I’d never watch it without Bob. I’ve grown to love Drew as he’s grown into the role. Happy to see him keep going!” a fourth pointed out.
