Colin Jost Addresses Rumors He’s ‘Trying to Steal Ken Jennings’ Job’ on ‘Jeopardy!’

    Jeopardy!

A buzzworthy new addition to the Jeopardy!-verse is upon us. Pop Culture Jeopardy! premieres on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, December 4. Before its big debut, Colin Jost shared his mindset and addressed rumors of a feud with Ken Jennings.

When news of the spinoff first broke in May, some unsubstantiated reports emerged claiming that Jost was looking to replace Jennings as host of the main show. In a wide-ranging new interview from The Ringer on Tuesday — Jost’s first about the big gig — he dismissed those rumors and “promised” fans he’s not, in fact, gunning for Jennings’ role.

“I promise I am in no way trying to steal his job,” Jost told the outlet. He’s very good at his job. I also have a job. He and I texted during [Pop Culture Jeopardy!], actually.”

Jost shared what those conversations were like, saying Jennings was “supportive” in preparing him to join the daunting and fast-paced world of Jeopardy! hosting.

“He was just supportive. What he was saying is true — there’s almost no one that knows what it’s like to host the game. You know, all the crazy specific things you have to do in every game and keep track of, in addition to what just seems like normal hosting stuff. The gameplay of it is so specific and fast and precise that it’s just an experience that almost no one gets to have. It’s like talking to someone who used to host Weekend Update—it’s its own vocabulary and own experience that’s very specific.”

Jost was also asked if he had an all-time favorite Jeopardy! contestant having watched the quiz show growing up, and he was quick name Jennings.

“Honestly, Ken Jennings,” he said. “He was the first person I saw go on that kind of crazy run, at whatever age I was when that happened, and it was really just so exciting to watch. I was watching every night to see what would happen. I think that’s part of why he’s such a great host to me—he has that credibility that you know he probably knows everything.”

The Saturday Night Live star also told fans what to expect from the new spinoff, and he said it’s “harder” material than the nightly show.

“I found Pop Culture Jeopardy! harder than regular Jeopardy! I was really impressed. You have to have a breadth of knowledge for all that’s within pop culture.” He also shared some of the teams of three wear “costumes,” and that “They wrote all the clues not knowing who the host was going to be.” He called this a “weird” experience since almost every episode has a clue about his wife, Scarlett Johansson.

Speaking of weird, since the spinoff is team-based, there is some history between the contestants: “And there were teams that had, like, one of them used to date a person in the group, but then they left that person and started dating the other one in the group. There are some weird love triangles happening. It was like an ad for Hinge or something.”

Jost also shared the interesting way he met Jeopardy!’s executive producer Michael Davies, much like Jennings (and his mythical Comedy Central pilot in the 2000s), he pitched a game show co-hosted by Michael Che to Davies years ago.

The Pop Culture Jeopardy! host praised the long-running quiz show and, once more, shared his respect for its host. “I still watch it whenever I have a chance. It’s just such a timeless, perfectly constructed game… I’m sure I’m a lot less efficient at it than Ken Jennings is. He probably also knows a lot more answers than I do.” Jost also threw in what could be perceived as Mayim Bialik shade: “Your focus is so much on the integrity of the game and wanting it to be paced up and for there not to be any weird pauses.”

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is the first-ever version of the quiz show to be based on teams of three, to be exclusively on streaming – not interfering with the nightly show – and solely based on niche pop culture instead of, say, Shakespeare. Finally, it also introduces a new host to the franchise in Jost. The inaugural season consists of 40 episodes, released in batches of three weekly until one team emerges the first-ever Pop Culture Jeopardy! champions winning $300,000. See full details here.

[SURPRISE] ‘Jeopardy! Host Ken Jennings Reveals Who He Wants to Play Him on ‘SNL’

‘Jeopardy! Host Ken Jennings Reveals Who He Wants to Play Him on ‘SNL’

    Ken Jennings for 'Jeopardy !'
    Jeopardy!, Inc.

Ken Jennings has become one of the most famous faces on television thanks to Jeopardy!  Carrying the torch of Alex Trebek has taken him to another level in terms of celebrity. So surely the time is right for Jennings to get the Saturday Night Live treatment.

During the iconic NBC sketch show’s run Jeopardy! bits have given audiences some of the most memorable moments. Who could ever forget those “Celebrity Jeopardy!” segments that ran from the mid-1990s up to almost a decade ago?  Will Ferrell stepped into the legendary shoes of Trebek. The comedic actor provided major LOL moments alongside Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery.

Now Ken himself has revealed who he would like to portray him on SNL. And his choice will not only surprise most people, it’s pure genius. Sure, a fun way for the late-night sketch show to poke fun at Ken would be to have SNL regular Colin Jost take part in a skit. After all, he already has an obvious link with Ken through his gig hosting Pop Culture Jeopardy!

Now it’s been revealed that during a recent Jeopardy! taping, someone actually asked Ken who he’d like to see portray him on SNL. His answer, according to the Inside Jeopardy! podcast was none other than former cast member Kate McKinnon.

Of course, the actress is no stranger to impersonating famous faces who happen to be male including pop star Justin Bieber and political figures Rudy Giuliani and Jeff Sessions.

But there are also other Ken Jennings doppelgängers out in the wide world of showbiz.

Back in 2022, Ken recalled the time he was confused with veteran actor Richard Jenkins. The 50-year-old was asked to sign photos of the Emmy winner from the 2008 film Step Brothers, which ironically also stars Ferrell. So there are your degrees of separation connection, but maybe the now 77-year-old Jenkins would not be the best fit.

    Mikey Day (NBC)

There are some names on the current SNL roster who have the potential to do a good job playing “The Professor.” Among them is Mikey Day, who started with the show in 2013 as a writer before going in front of the camera. Stepping up to repertory player in 2018, he certainly showed his ability to tackle roles that are not only human like Donald Trump Jr. or President Joe Biden but animated as well when he played MTV’s Butt-Head with Ryan Gosling’s Beavis.

However, when adding in a specific look for Jennings, you have to admit that James Austin Johnson would be a great choice for the job. The relative newcomer to the group, starting with SNL in 2021, certainly brings the quiz host aura. Much like Day, Johnson also made headlines impersonating a president in Donald Trump for the series.

Who do you think should play Ken Jennings on SNL? Let us know in the comments.

Three ‘Price Is Right’ Contestants Made History in a Single Showdown

    The-Price-Is-Right-3-Contestants-Spin-1-Dollar-V2

America’s longest-running game show, ‘The Price Is Right’ delivered an unforgettable episode that shocked fans as three contestants made history on the show’s iconic Big Wheel during the Showcase Showdown. For the first time, the contestants collectively won $80,000 through five $1 spins, which has never been accomplished in the show’s 46-year history! This monumental event highlighted Drew Carey’s 10th anniversary as host and showcased an extraordinary streak of luck.

To honor Drew Carey’s decade at the helm of the beloved game show, ‘The Price Is Right’ increased the stakes on the Big Wheel. Typically, contestants who spin $1 receive a $1,000 bonus, but for this special week, the reward was 10x, meaning $10,000! And if contestants managed to spin $1 again on their second attempt, they would win an additional $25,000. It all started with Wilbert, who spun twice, landing on 25 cents and then 75 cents to make an exact $1. His triumph earned him the first $10,000 bonus of the day, sending both him and the audience into a frenzy of excitement. Next up was Charlotte, who nailed $1 on her first spin, securing another $10,000. When Zachary took his turn, host Drew Carey joked about the possibility of him joining the $10,000 club—and with spins of 85 cents and 15 cents, he did just that.

    The Contestants’ Spins Totaled a Record-Breaking $80,000

But the excitement didn’t end there. On their second spins, both Wilbert and Charlotte landed on $1 again, each pocketing an additional $25,000. At this stage, host Drew Carey was jumping up and down excitedly crying out. “Oh my goodness, what is happening?” Their total winnings skyrocketed to $35,000 each, while Zachary walked away with a respectable $10,000. In total, the contestants’ spins added up to a record-breaking $80,000. The historic moment set social media excited. One viewer tweeted, “If you aren’t watching ‘The Price Is Right’ at this very moment, you are missing history in the making,” while another exclaimed, “WHAT. IS. HAPPENING. EVERYONE IS WINNING ON @PriceIsRight BIG WHEEL. Gave away $80,000!”

The excitement wasn’t limited to Twitter. A YouTube commenter shared their thoughts on the CBS Texas news channel’s coverage of the historic $80K win, saying, “One of my absolute favorite things to see is a group of strangers hugging and jumping with each other. It’s such a funny, cute moment of celebration where, for a second, these strangers embrace each other like a group of old friends.”

This Episode of the Price Is Right Will Go Down in History

    Price-Is-Right-3-Contestants-Spin-1-Dollar

While the Big Wheel’s odds are mathematically equal for each spin, the probability of such a streak—three contestants hitting $1 five times in one showdown—is staggeringly low. This led some fans to speculate whether the event was staged, but others chalked it up to pure luck. Regardless, it’s clear that this episode will go down in history as one of the most thrilling moments in The Price Is Right.

Whether you’re a long-time fan or a casual viewer, this episode of The Price Is Right was a reminder of why the show continues to captivate audiences across generations. It was a day of celebration, luck, and community. You can watch The Price Is Right on CBS and the show is available to stream on Paramount+.

Fox News hosts Sean Hannity and Ainsley Earhardt are engaged.

After years of quietly dating long distance, Hannity, 62, proposed to Earhardt, 48, over Christmas week at a church in his home state of Florida.

“We are overjoyed and so thankful to our families for all of their love and support during this wonderful time in our lives,” the pair told Fox News.

The two added that they had the blessing and support from their children, who “couldn’t be happier.”

Hannity shares two children, Patrick and Merri, with ex-wife Jill Rhodes, whom he wed in 1993 and divorced from in 2019.

Meanwhile, Earhardt has a daughter, Hayden, with ex-husband Will Proctor. The former couple got married in 2012, announced their separation in 2018 and finalized their divorce in 2019. Earhardt, who is based in New York, was also previously married to Kevin McKinney from 2005 to 2009.

The couple told Fox News that they “still get along well” with their ex-spouses and that they “made them aware this was happening ahead of time.”

Hannity and Earhardt said they bonded over their shared religious beliefs, and described the church as “the perfect place” to propose, according to the outlet. They met with their minister shortly after the engagement.

Back in June 2020, a source in Hannity and Earhardt’s circle told PEOPLE that they had been “been seeing each other very secretively for years,” despite the pair publicly denying so.

“He’s very private because he’s very famous and he’s very controversial,” the source said at the time, “but it’s been an open secret that they have been seeing each other.”

“They’re together all the time, but in private … for years, not just months,” the source continued.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Earhardt hosted her Fox & Friends program from a studio in the basement of Hannity’s Long Island mansion.

In October 2019, Earhardt told PEOPLE she was ready to date again and open to having more kids.

“I would love to find love again and I want to demonstrate a loving relationship for Hayden one day,” she said. “But I’m not sure when that will be. I know that God will put the right man in my life if that’s his will and he’ll do it in his time.”

Colin Jost says his mother was ‘thrown’ after he and Scarlett Johansson named their son Cosmo

Colin Jost’s mother was confused by his decision to name his son Cosmo.
On “Seth Meyers,” Jost said she called him and Scarlett Johansson to suggest changes to the moniker.
She came around, Jost added, after meeting Staten Island neighbors that have relatives named Cosmo.
Visit Insider’s homepage for more stories.

Colin Jost’s mother, Kerry Kelly, was perplexed by her son and his wife Scarlett Johansson’s decision to name their child Cosmo, the “Saturday Night Live” head writer revealed.

On Thursday’s episode of NBC’s “Late Night,” host Seth Meyers, an “SNL” alum that co-anchored the show’s “Weekend Update” segment before Jost took over in 2014, asked his successor how his family reacted to the child’s unique moniker.

“My family is very supportive always,” Jost began.

He continued, “My mom, I would say, was slightly thrown by it and didn’t quite understand it. I don’t know if she thought it was kind of like a hippie thing, like a dirty hippie thing.”

Jost and Johansson announced their son’s arrival (and name) on Instagram in August, months after they got married in a small ceremony in October 2020. Johansson also has a 7-year-old daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac, from her previous marriage to French journalist Romain Dauriac.

Kelly called the couple “three or four” days after they brought Cosmo home from the hospital to ask if his name was finalized and to inquire about whether they had submitted his birth certificate, Jost recalled. They responded by telling Kelly that they already registered the document at the hospital.

“She was like, ‘Oh OK, interesting because I was reading that there’s also a name Cosimo with an ‘I,’ so that could also be an option. Maybe you call him Cosimo, that’s his real name, but then you can call him still Cosmo,’” Jost told Meyers.

After Kelly began discussing her grandson’s name with her Staten Island neighbors, she learned that it wasn’t as obscure as she thought. Many members of the borough’s Italian community have relatives named Cosmo, the comedian said.

“She would call and she would say, ‘I met someone. They said their uncle’s name is Cosmo, so it is OK,’” Jost said.

Despite the comedian’s insistence that his son’s name was already “locked in,” Kelly tossed in another suggestion, for good measure.

“She goes, ‘There’s a patron saint called Cosmos, so that’s another option,’” Jost said.

He responded: “We don’t need more worse variants on Cosmo, but thanks, Mom.”

Colin appeared to be cool, calm and collected as he took the stage on a shiny new set on the first episode, which dropped December 4 on Amazon Prime.

He immediately cracked up the studio audience with a joke in his signature style.

“Finally, a version of Jeopardy! for people who get upset when regular Jeopardy! players miss clues about rappers and reality TV,” he said before beginning the game.

Colin then presented cheeky categories, including Sad Girl Summer, That’s Not My Name, and even included Jeopardy!’s longtime announcer in Johnny Gilbert: Film Thespian.

In the category’s clues, Johnny read film quotes in a dramatic fashion, cracking up the audience.

    LOVIN’ COLIN

The host’s performance immediately attracted positive reviews from longtime Jeopardy! fans.

“Colin Jost is a really good host,” one fan wrote on a Jeopardy! Reddit fan page. “I’m enjoying him immensely to be honest.

“I think Ken is really good too, but Colin is more telegenic and has a great sense of humor.

“Obviously, he has more star power than Ken too.”

“Colin’s quick wit and off-the-cuff remarks fit right in without getting in the way of the gameplay,” another said.

“I feel like Colin was very polished for a newbie, and definitely funnier than Ken,” said a third.

    JEOPARDY! GOLDEN BOY

As The U.S. Sun previously reported, Jeopardy! execs were thrilled to sign Colin on as the Pop Culture spinoff’s host.

“At Sony TV, getting Colin to come aboard Jeopardy! was a major coup,” an insider shared.

“And Colin has more experience with live TV than almost anybody involved with Jeopardy!

“He can make things work in the moment that Ken can’t, and nobody is in denial about that.”

The source said Colin could even becom the future host of Celebrity Jeopardy! instead of Ken.

“Colin can interact with celebrity contestants with confidence because they see him as a peer,” the insider continued.

“Unfortunately, that’s never going to be the case with Ken.”

    TOUGH CLUES

Jeopardy! fans were initially nervous the show would be “dumbed down” from the high-brow original, with easy and even vulgar clues.

But viewers seemed to agree that the clues were far from simple.

“Surprisingly not too much of a walk in the park with some questions,” one Reddit fan commented. “Yet all very on par with pop culture, new and old.”

“The show was surprisingly not a cakewalk. I didn’t even run the cartoon category,” said another.

During last weekend’s Saturday Night Live season premiere, Michael Che amused a lot of people with his Donald Trump jokes. But not everyone was laughing.

On his “Weekend Update” segment, Che had some choice words for the president, critiquing him for his response to Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria.

“It’s hurricane relief and people need help. You just did this for white people — twice,” he ranted. “Do the same thing: Go tell Melania to put on her flood heels, get some bottled water, some food, pack up some extra Atlanta Falcons Super Bowl T-shirts, and write them a check with our money, you cheap cracker.”

Several Trump supporters didn’t like Che’s comments and took to social media to express their displeasure – using a barrage of racial slurs.

The SNL star took screenshots of the responses and posted many of them on Instagram. He has has since deleted a few.

In one post, an Instagram user called for him to be fired, while another said he was “worthless.” A few others used racial slurs including the n-word.

Che didn’t appear too affected, however, as he laughed off many of the offensive remarks in the captions.

He even continued to chastise the Trump administration Tuesday when he uploaded a photo of Melania Trump headed to Puerto Rico with the caption, “these expensive, these is red bottoms, these is floody shoes” – a slight revision of Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow,” where the artist raps “bloody shoes” instead of “floody shoes.”

Michael Che blasted for cruel jokes about Simone Biles

“Saturday Night Live” comedian Michael Che is under fire for targeting Simone Biles — including reposting a joke about Larry Nassar, the former USA Gymnastics doctor who s—xually abused her and dozens of other athletes.

In a since-deleted string of stories on Instagram, Che wrote: “Man, I wanna make fun of Simone Biles,” according to Newsweek.

“I got like 3 mins of Simone Biles jokes in my head. Im going to the cellar tonight to say them into a microphone. As the dorky kids say I’m choosing violence,” “SNL’s” “Weekend Update” co-anchor wrote.

Che reposted multiple responses on Instagram Stories, including the one about Nassar that he rated a 9/10 before rating a racist joke about the gymnast an 8/10.

Amid a backlash, Che sarcastically claimed his account had been hacked.

“Mannnnn, i got hacked today. Can’t believe they got me,” he wrote. “Yall know i only do jokes about whites and cops. S’all good now i changed my password and everything..”

Che also referenced apparent homophobic comments made by 29-year-old “Suge” rapper DaBaby.

“Yall hear about dababy tho..? that’s crazy. iight see yall at church. Imma get there early,” the comedian reportedly wrote.

Che was assailed for his tasteless jokes about Biles.

“Larry Nassar sexually assaulted over 300 gymnasts including Simone Biles. Jokes about this immense violence are never okay. @hbomax @nbcsnl why is Michael Che still on your roster?” activist Farrah Khan said in a tweet.

Writer Delia Harrington wrote: “Michael Che comes for people he thinks he can get away with dunking on. Trans women, Black women, sexual assault survivors. Judging by his flimsy ‘I got hacked’ defense, it seems he had no idea how beloved Simone Biles is, or just how messed up it is to share a Larry Nassar joke.”

Activist Leslie Mac said: “Black Women BEEN told you about Michael Che… but once again y’all ignored us. But COMEDY right!? F***** hack.”

And podcaster Carolyn Hinds added: “Michael Che—and all of these tacky ass clowns who call themselves comedians need to keep Simone’s name out their damb mouths.”

Biles skipped the Olympics gymnastics competition to focus on her mental health.
