Almin Karamehmedovic, the president of ABC News, circulated a memo to employees on Wednesday – warning of big changes.

In the memo, Almin penned: “As we’ve often talked about, streamlining our operation to best serve our viewers and continue to position ourselves as a leading news organization has been a goal for some time,” as per The New York Post.

The memo, which was obtained by the outlet, went on: “Rethinking the way we work to future-proof our team regrettably includes reductions to our extraordinary staff.

“These decisions are incredibly challenging and today will undoubtedly be difficult for our organization.”

Adding how “it bears repeating how profoundly grateful and proud I am to be leading a truly remarkable team that consistently delivers the best our profession has to offer”.

The memo concluded: “As we look ahead, I remain confident in our ability to continue to set the bar for journalistic excellence.

“I am so proud of all that you do,.”

The memo came as staffers packed up their desks amid layoffs as the network restructures its programming.

The restructuring of the network includes merging 20/20 and Nightline, as well as consolidating its Good Morning America productions.

The future of Good Morning America looks different too, with a huge shakeup set to impact the show.

GMA and its third hour GMA3 is rumored to be consolidated into one production unit, instead of the two separate units it currently functions as.

The flagship program is in need of having its ratings improved, which is what the network is currently focusing on.

This comes after GMA’s ratings fell behind NBC’s Today show.

But Good Morning America isn’t the only show impacted.

Good Morning America anchors

Good Morning America airs on ABC from 7-9am EST, Monday through Friday. The show has a panel of anchors who discuss the week’s events and current news. The anchors who appear on the morning show include:

George Stephanoupolos
Ginger Zee
Lara Spencer

According to The New York Post, staffers at World News Tonight will also be affected amid the shakeups and layoffs.

Data news site FiveThirtyEight which accurately predicted the results of some elections, will also be affected amid the layoffs.

The entire site is said to be in the firing line, with the entire site said to be getting axed, according to the Wall Street Journal.

All 15 employees at the data site are reportedly going to get made redundant.

This comes after parent company Disney reportedly planned to lay off around 200 people from its ABC News Group division and Disney Entertainment Networks unit.

Last fall, the network’s local stations were unexpectedly hit with 75 job cuts.

Michael Strahan was one of the best defenders in history for the New York Giants, making the NFL Hall of Fame.

However, he is building just as big of a legacy as a TV broadcaster.

Strahan instantly joined the cast of Fox NFL Sunday after retiring from the league in 2008.

Later, he joined the cast of Good Morning America, yubi where he has served ever since.

Strahan only needs to broadcast once a week for Fox NFL Sunday, but GMA takes up much more of his time airing every day.

Since the show takes up so much of his time NewsNation is reporting that Strahan won’t return to GMA after his contract ends.

“It’s a lot,” a source said.

“He wants to spend more time with his family.”

A different source said, “He will be out by this summer — he’s had enough.”

However, Strahan might think twice about leaving Good Morning America due to his high contract.

Strahan probably has that salary in mind, as a source revealed to The U.S. Sun, “Several higher ups at ABC say this isn’t true,” regarding the reports.

“There’s no truth that I’m aware of that about this at this current juncture,” another source said.

“That piece is strictly speculative rumor mill stuff.

“If you just read it, it just sounds like someone with a very specific point of view and a very specific desire to make things suddenly complicated for GMA.”

Michael Strahan’s NFL career

Michael Strahan is one of the most recognizable faces on television.

But he came into his media career with Fox off the back of a hugely successful stint in the NFL.

Strahan spent 14 years all with the New York Giants from 1993 to 2007.

He was a seven-time Pro Bowler and helped them win the Super Bowl in 2007 – ending the New England Patriots’ hopes of a perfect season.

Strahan was also a two-time NFL sacks leader and also won Defensive Player of the Year.

The ex-Giants star set the single-season sack record with 22.5 in 2001 – a feat which was matched by J.J. Watt exactly 20 years later.

He is one of the best defensive stars to have ever played the game – finishing with 141.5 career sacks and 854 tackles.

It is hard to believe Strahan would make such an abrupt exit from broadcasting after so many years.

It is even more surprising because he told Forbes last year that he wouldn’t leave on a whim.

“I won’t go cold turkey on everything,” Strahan said.

“But I see myself slowly dropping different things until eventually, you’ll just find me on the golf course.

“Time is the one thing that once it’s gone, you can never get it back.

“I’m very conscious of that, being a dad. That’s what has led me to think more about the end of my career.”

George’s contract was reportedly renewed in late 2024, despite ABC settling a lawsuit with then President-elect Donald Trump, 78, after the network was sued over the newsman’s statements.

The GMA anchor erroneously said on air that that Trump was found liable for raping writer E. Jean Carroll.

Trump was actually found liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll.

The insider continued, “The people at the bottom are getting hit the worst, it might seem illogical but people think maybe the big talent should take the pay cut instead.”

Meanwhile, another news industry insider surmised that the days of the mega-multi-million-dollar contracts are coming to an end.

“Little by little, this is all going away. These bigger salaries are all going away. George was recently renewed, but the news industry just can’t keep supporting these salaries anymore.”

As previously reported by The U.S. Sun, multiple insiders have revealed that widespread layoffs at ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment have created a “nightmare” for employees across the board, with GMA3 bearing the brunt of the cuts.

“It is a complete s***show” at the network’s studios in New York City, one insider griped.

With production for the morning and afternoon editions of Good Morning America now merged, staffers from the lower-rated GMA3 have been hit hardest, facing the largest wave of layoffs.

Many of the displaced employees from the afternoon spinoff have pointed fingers at their former cohosts, whose undeniable on-air chemistry was never replicated after their departure.

“Staff blamed Amy and TJ for being selfish and ruining the show, essentially, when they were let go.

“They’ve never hired anyone with quite the same level of charisma that TJ and Amy had that had people tuning in to watch them together.”

According to the insider, “Amy and TJ got let go for being selfish two years ago, and now the rest of us are being fired in the fallout.

“They’ve ruined it for everyone else and now the whole staff is gone.”

GMA3 is currently hosted by Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan.

The layoffs, however, extend far beyond GMA3, with programs across all time slots at ABC feeling the impact.

NEW OFFICE VIBES

Some insiders believe the warning signs were there for quite some time, especially after the network relocated to its new downtown headquarters.

According to one source, the office setup has undergone a dramatic transformation.

“There are no longer assigned desks with personal photos of people’s families and other personal effects.

“Staff are now sharing desks and there are lockers where you can put your things and pick them up at the end of your shift.

“It’s a very different work landscape than they had in the old uptown ABC offices.”

Multiple sources exclusively told The U.S. Sun that the gutting of staff at ABC News Group and Disney Entertainment has become a “nightmare” for employees across the board, but GMA3 was hit the hardest.

Additionally, Simone Swing, who is currently the senior executive producer at GMA, is now overseeing all GMA branded shows, including GMA3.

Despite the layoffs and the gripes about the show’s former co-hosts, an ABC press release from Tuesday touted GMA3’s ratings beating NBC News Daily.

Meanwhile, it seems all areas of ABC have been impacted from programs in all time slots.

Perhaps the writing has been on the wall, as one insider explained the configuration of the offices has changed dramatically since the network moved into its new downtown digs, and not for the better.

“There are no longer assigned desks with personal photos of people’s families and other personal effects.

“Staff are now sharing desks and there are lockers where you can put your things and pick them up at the end of your shift.

“It’s a very different work landscape than they had in the old uptown ABC offices.”

As The U.S. Sun previously and extensively reported, Amy and TJ were ultimately fired from their cushy hosting jobs at ABC after news of their alleged extramarital affair made headlines in late 2022.

AMY AND TJ’S ABC EXIT

The coupled-up cohosts were both legally married when their relationship came to light.

Since then, the couple launched their podcast, the Amy & TJ podcast, and subsequently another podcast called The Morning Run.

The pair have been vocal about their unceremonious exit at ABC, and have spoken out about how they viewed other fellow staffers’ less-than-pleasant exits.

EXITS AT ABC ARE ‘NOT PRETTY’

In a podcast epiode last year, the couple opened up about weatherman Rob Marciano’s exit from the network after a decade with ABC.

TJ said “We were with somebody just at a breakfast the other morning where somebody reminded us, ‘Hey, nobody leaves ABC News in a pretty fashion.’ That’s what they said.”

Amy then added: “Word for word. It’s a tough situation. Yes, we have walked down that road. It’s not an easy one.

“I think he might still be going through a divorce, so we know what it’s like to have your entire life upended, career and personal life.”

The pair expressed their sympathy to Rob, who they said they had known for a long time, with TJ calling him “one of the best” in his field.

“We hate to see somebody who’s been a friend and a colleague for a long time end up in this place, in this position, to be talked about the way he’s being talked about to some degree,” he added.

Meanwhile, Michael Strahan is facing rumors that he is leaving GMA after seven years.

NewsNation’s insider said: “He will be out by this summer — he’s had enough.”

But a source told The U.S. Sun “this isn’t true.”

She was first unexpectedly absent from a March 3 taping session, with fans of the show now picking up on her absence.

Actor Simu Liu stepped in at the last minute for the taping session, with him saying, “Kelly isn’t able to make it today. We’re sending her our very best.”

“I did not know that I was doing this until about five minutes ago when I arrived to promote my new movie Last Breath,” he said.

“I’m here now, and look, I’m not one to back down from a challenge.”

The Since U Been Gone singer last appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on March 5, and fans are growing increasingly concerned as the reason for her not hosting remains undisclosed.

There is also no word of when she will likely return to her own show, which is leaving fans even more worried.

Brooke Shields hosted the show earlier this week, with a selection of other famous faces also stepping up to the plate in the singer’s absence from her own show.

While hosting the show earlier this week, Brooke explained how it was nice to be doing the hosting for once, instead of being a guest.

In the caption of a video shared on social media of Brooke hosting, it read: “Always be prepared!”

But there were also concerned messages regarding Kelly.

“I just want to know if Kelly is okay cuz it’s now been kind of a long time,” said one.

“Is Kelly Clarkson ok?” asked one fan on social media as Kelly continues to be a no-show on her own show.

A second said: “I respect Kelly Clarkson’s privacy, but I am very concerned about her.”

“Sad her followers aren’t being told why she missing,” penned a third.

A fourth person then said: “Where’s Kelly??”

While a fifth added: “We don’t need to know her business but need to know she is ok please.”

A sixth said: “Take care of yourself, sweet girl. I sure hope everything is okay.”

And a seventh gave the show an ultimatum when they said: “I’m not going to watch until Kelly comes back I’m concerned where is she?”

SPECULATION FOR ABSENCE

Neither Kelly nor NBC have publicly addressed her absence, and NBC did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

But despite her absence leaving viewers concerned, this isn’t the first time she has taken time off from work.

In 2022 she spent the summer on vacation with her children.

And her 2025 absence comes as she gears up for her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Kelly will be at the helm of 18 shows at the iconic venue.

She will kick off her residency on July 4, 2025, and is scheduled through to November 15, 2025.

But it wasn’t really once and for all, because just weeks after quitting, Hoda has returned to Today.

Returning to the show to announce some exciting career news, Hoda appeared on Today in a video link as she revealed the book she has been working on.

After working on a motivational book, which is titled Jump and Find Joy, the tome will come out this September.

In the video clip announcing her book, Hoda shared how she was “terrified” to “jump” and quit Today, before talking about how everyone is terrified to take a leap sometimes.

She then revealed: “I was thinking of a book,” before saying how the idea to incorporate “jump” into the title yubi hit her.

The clip, which was uploaded to Instagram, was initially broadcast on Today this morning.

And fans were taken aback by Hoda’s appearance, with many also overjoyed by her book news.

FAN’S EXCITEMENT FOR BOOK

One confused fan commented on the video which was shared on Instagram, saying: “Just when you think she’s out…”

‘The Price Is Right’ Fans Blast Drew Carey After Tricky Game Baffles Player

Could Drew Carey better explain the rules of tricky games on The Price Is Right? That’s what some fans were left thinking after a clearly out-of-her-depth contestant won the segment “Do The Math.” And the player who won also shared that she “didn’t” understand what was going on.

The segment involved Sophie, who, on December 12’s episode, took on the “Do The Math” game. The pricing game entails a contestant being shown two prizes, and a dollar figure representing the difference in value between them. Without knowing the price of either prize, the contestant must decide whether the dollar figure should be added to or subtracted from the price on the left to equal the price of the prize on the right. The prices of both prizes are then revealed, and if correct, the contestant wins both prizes.

Sophie, however, was not a good match for this game. When host Carey called her down, she nervously told him, “Math is not my thing.” Carey said, “It’s a simple equation.” He unveiled the two prizes, a home bar and a home office setup with a Macbook Air.

The host explained, “It’s the price of the home bar, plus $947 equals the price of the laptop and the desk.” Cut to a confused-looking Sophie. Carey continued, “Or, is it the prize of the home bar, minus $947, equals the prize of the laptop and the desk. The price of the home bar, plus or minus $947.”

The host further clarified exactly what she should do, but not, according to some fans, the overall game rules: “If you think the home bar is more expensive say minus $947, if you think it’s less expensive say plus $947.”

Turning completely flush, Sophie stammered, “Plus? minus?” causing Carey to burst out laughing as she clearly could not, as they name entailed, do the math. “I’ll say more!” she decided, thinking the bar was worth more.

This meant the $947 was subtracted, making the home bar $3,492 and the home office $2,649. She was on-the-money, having picked the right swap to make. “You got it!” Carey said. Sophie raced over to claim both prizes.

In the comments section of the clip, some fans were left saying Carey could have better explained the confusing game to a clearly confused contestant – and even they didn’t all fully get the gist.

“I didn’t even understand the question,” one comment read.

“I don’t think she even knew what she had guessed,” another fan wrote.

“Yeah not my thing either I dunno what just happened,” wrote a third.

Sophie chimed in to reply to that user explaining she did not understand the game, even after Carey’s explanation: “I didn’t ! 🙂 made a guess,” she wrote.

A fourth replied to her: “Super proud of you for giving it a shot. It takes heart to even get up there.

Other fans supported Carey in the comments and felt he did a winning job at outlining the game.

“He did such a good job explaining the game to someone who clearly didn’t understand

“I love Drew as the host! He’s so kind and thoughtful!

“The confusion is palpable. Glad she won though,” wrote one more, however. “This is a tricky pricing game without question, but congratulations to her on winning her prizes. ”

Drew Carey shook things up on last Wednesday’s (January 29) episode of The Price Is Right at Night, introducing a massive new twist to Plinko and giving a contestant the chance to walk away with over $200,000. Now fans are wondering if the super-sized prize will get introduced to the dayside version of the show and if other changes are on the way.

Having debuted in 1983, Plinko has become the most popular pricing game ever on The Price Is Right. However, after 40-plus years, Carey thought it was time to add a new wrinkle to the game in the form of the Golden Plinko chip.

As long-time viewers know, Plinko sees a contestant given one round flat disc (a Plinko chip), which they must drop into the Plinko board in hopes of landing the chip in a high-value slot at the bottom while trying to avoid the $0 slot in the center. The contestant can also earn up to four more chips by guessing the value of small prize items.

A contestant named Michelle made her way up to the stage on Wednesday’s episode after guessing the closest to the price of a trip to Santa Barbara, California. Announcer George Gray then explained she would be playing Plinko before Carey revealed a twist to the game.

“You can win four more chips, but tonight we have a special twist to the game,” the beloved host said. “One of the prizes has a special Golden Plinko chip attached to it. And if you get the gold Plinko chip, wherever [it] drops, we’re gonna times whatever it lands on by ten.”

Michelle looked shocked as Carey explained, “So if you land on the $20,000, you can win $200,000 with that one chip.”

During the pricing game, Michelle earned three more chips, including the coveted golden chip, and took to the stairs to drop her chips into the Plinko board.

The first three chips all landed in the $5,000 slot, giving her a total of $15,000. But she still had the Golden chip to go, with a chance to increase whatever she landed on by ten.

Michelle dropped the Golden chip, hoping to land it in the $20,000 slot. However, it veered off and ultimately ended up in the $2,000 slot, giving her another $20,000.

“Aww,” Carey added, seemingly disappointed the Golden chip didn’t land in a higher value. “Well, $35,000 altogether,” he added. “That’s not bad. Not bad at all.”
