‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Contestant Hilariously Yells At Host Ryan Seacrest

Ryan Seacrest has seemingly had a solid start to his run as host of Wheel of Fortune, but there are a few fans who think he’s still got some work to do when it comes to filling previous host Pat Sajak’s shoes after his 41-year tenure.

The 50-year-old game show host made viewers upset after seemingly laughing at one contestant after they were unable to solve a $100,000 puzzle.

Jim Venckus, from Downers Grove, Illinois, competed on the Friday, March 7, yubi episode of Wheel. The Illinois native played his way through the puzzles and secured a trip to the Caribbean before finishing the game with around $25,000. It was during the Bonus Round that Venckus failed to solve the puzzle and lost out on an additional $100,000. Seacrest opened up the envelope and revealed the amount the contestant had lost and seemingly broke out into laughter.

Users on Reddit took to a forum about the game show to discuss Seacrest’s reaction to Venckus’s loss.

“Why [does] Ryan think it’s funny when someone loses $100,000?,” asked one user in the title of a post that read, “Since Ryan took over, anybody noticed Ryan smiling and pretty much laughing when $100,000 is lost in the Bonus Round?”

One user replied in the comments and admitted, “Could just be nervous energy. If I were on the show and lost $100,000 I’d prob laugh too. It would be the only thing keeping me from cursing and crying lol.”

A second user wrote, “But they don’t really LOSE $100,000 because they never had it to begin with. Technically, they don’t WIN $100,000.”

A third noted, “He always has a goofy look on his face when opening the bonus round card.”

Seacrest took over as cohost of Wheel after Sajak, 78, stepped down in 2024. Fans can watch him alongside cohost Vanna White in season 42 of the beloved gameshow which airs weeknights on ABC.

Tim Allen Needs Help Being Patient From Seann William Scott in ‘Shifting Gears’ Sneak Peek [Exclusive]

Tim Allen‘s Matt Parker loves a challenging project when it comes to restoring cars in his latest sitcom Shifting Gears, but this week’s episode may have given him a task even he doesn’t have the patience for—getting his grandson’s attention to work together in the workshop. The latest episode of the hit series airs tonight on ABC, and Collider is thrilled to exclusively present a sneak peek at some of the laughs in store. The episode’s full logline states:

Georgia invites Matt and Riley to speak at her school’s Career Day, where playful competition turns tense when Riley learns Georgia is ashamed of her job. Meanwhile, Gabriel mentors Carter’s car project until a more urgent piece of business arises.

Our sneak peek sees Allen’s Matt trying to get the attention of his grandson Carter (Maxwell Simkins) as he seeks to work on a vintage car with him, as a project for the both of them to bond over. But when Matt’s old school ways fail to get the youngster’s attention, Gabriel (Seann William Scott) steps up to offer advice—and accidentally ends up volunteering to mentor Gabriel while Matt takes a back seat, quite literally, on the project.

What Else Has Been Happening on ‘Shifting Gears’?

The first season of the show has been an immense success so far, with viewership ratings through the roof, down in no small part to Allen’s charisma and likability, but the show has also been boosted by the presence of guest stars like Nancy Travis, who played Allen’s wife on Last Man Standing, while late night icon Jay Leno will appear in next week’s episode. When Travis was recently asked if she believed Allen would recruit more of his former co-stars from Last Man Standing and Home Improvement, Travis confirmed that Allen would always take care of his own.

“Oh, of course. I have no doubt [about that]. Tim is nothing if not loyal,” Travis told Us Weekly about the possibility of more Last Man Standing cameos. “So it was great to walk on that set and see most of the crew was from Last Man Standing. The director, John Pasquin, did so many episodes of Last Man Standing and is a personal friend. It was just so great to feel this sense of reunion. “I wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from Last Man Standing shows up on Shifting Gears in one way or another. If Tim has his way, he’ll make sure that everybody from [Kat Dennings’] 2 Broke Girls comes on too.”

Shifting Gears airs on ABC Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET before streaming the next day on Hulu. Check out our sneak peek at tonight’s episode above.

Last Man Standing Star Has “No Doubt” Tim Allen Will Recruit More LMS Stars For Shifting Gears

Kat Dennings as Riley and Tim Allen as Matt in Shifting Gears.

Last Man Standing star Nancy Travis thinks that Tim Allen will recruit more stars for Shifting GearsLast Man Standing was a sitcom led by Travis and Allen, who played a married couple. The series originally ran nine seasons from 2011 to 2021. This year, Allen takes on a new comedy by playing a widower and car workshop owner named Matt whose life is transformed when his estranged daughter and her teenage children arrive at his house. In addition to Allen, Shifting Gears features a leading cast including Kat Dennings, Seann William Scott, Daryl Mitchell, and Maxwell Simkins.

Speaking with Us Weekly, Travis speaks on whether more Last Man Standing actors will appear on Shifting Gears. Travis gives a simple “of course” in response, and pointed out that “most of the crew was from Last Man Standing.” She even goes so far as to say that she “wouldn’t be surprised if everybody from Last Man Standing shows up on Shifting Gears in one way or another.” She also believes this is what Allen would most want for his show. Check out the full quote from Travis below:

Oh, of course. I have no doubt [about that]. Tim is nothing if not loyal. So it was great to walk on that set and see most of the crew was from Last Man Standing. What This Means For Shifting Gears

Last Man Standing Has A Lot Of Actors To Choose From

Nancy Travis and Tim Allen in Shifting Gears

After playing Allen’s on-screen wife for years on Last Man StandingTravis recently appeared in Shifting Gears season 1, episode 6, “Valentines.” There, she played the role of Charlotte, a widow who Matt meets. Though they were not playing a married couple this time around, it was sweet to see the stars come together again after acting opposite each other for years. It also likely helped draw in fans from the previous show, given the network TV crossover.

Last Man Standing gave star Tim Allen the chance to reunite with some of his Home Improvement co-stars and here’s every actor who guested on the show.

What Travis is suggesting would be even more exciting for longer-term fans of Allen’s work, for she thinks it would be fitting for Shifting Gears season 2 to bring in even more cast members from the previous show. Two of the original three daughters in Last Man Standing, Mandy and Kristin, changed actors over the course of the seasons, giving more potential stars to pick for cameos. Last Man Standing‘s youngest daughter, Eve, was played by Kaitlyn Dever, who is a much better-known star now than she was when the show began, making her appearance less likely.

Our Take On These Potential Shifting Gears Cameos

The Cameos Could Help Attract Fans To The Poorly Reviewed Show

Eve and Riley talking in Shifting Gears episode 7 Riley and Eve bonding in Shifting Gears episode 7 Eve and Matt fighting in Shifting Gears episode 7 Matt and Eve arguing in Shifting Gears episode 7 Matt and Eve in alley in Shifting Gears episode 7

Shifting Gears has gotten mixed reviews so far, so more cameos could either help or hurt the show. Screen Rant‘s Ana Dumaraog gave the show 5 out of 10 stars, noting that “Shifting Gears is also stuck narratively” and that “its success is directly tied to how much the audience loves the actor and the role he is known for.” By casting more Last Man Standing actors, Shifting Gears could lean into such criticism and rely on fans of past series to keep the lackluster show alive.

[SO BAD] MAJOR SHAKEUP Spells SAD NEWS For Wheel of Fortune. Here’s All You Need To Know

Major Shakeup Spells Sad News For Wheel of Fortune and Pat Sajak Fans

Wheel of Fortune and Pat Sajak fans have been dealt a devastating blow about the celebrity version of the game show. Read on to find out what’s going on with Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

When Does Celebrity Wheel of Fortune Come Back?

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune was set to premiere on October 14, but sadly, the date has been pushed back considerably. The show will now air beginning mid-season — and it’s all due to football.

Celebrity Wheel of Fortune will now premiere in 2025, yubi according to an October 11 press release from ABC. “Celebrity Wheel of FortunePress Your Luck and ABC News’ Scamanda will premiere in 2025,” ABC said in a press release shared with TVLine. ABC is adding “six Monday Night Football simulcasts to its previously announced schedule,” forcing the network to bump Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.

Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek's Absence Have Game Show Lovers Concerned

The statement explained: “ABC is a destination for marquee NFL programming including, as part of our new deal, Super Bowl 61 (February 2027), the first of two. The decision to add more simulcast games was made in conjunction with the NFL and is just for the 2024-25 season. This schedule leans into the cross-promotional opportunities maximizing the reach of NFL programming across the Disney ecosystem. ESPN has already aired four exclusive games during 2024 season and will have three additional exclusive games, with two in November and one in December. There are 25 Games on ESPN’s 2024 NFL Schedule.”

The statement added: “Furthermore, this move will give the ABC game shows Celebrity Wheel of Fortune and Press Your Luck a more consistent, weekly run in midseason when there are less preemptions (i.e. football, 2024 election).”

So far, there’s no firm date set for the premiere of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. Some of the episodes have already been filmed since it was expected to air in October 2024.

In June, Sajak announced he was leaving his hosting job at Wheel of Fortune but fans were thrilled that he would be on hand to give his final spin on the celebrity version. Ryan Seacrest took over hosting duties for Sajak beginning with Season 42 of the original game show.

Pat Sajak shares 6-word message to fans in 'Wheel of Fortune' farewell | Fox News

The Celebrity Wheel of Fortune trailer, which was shared earlier this month on the show’s Instagram, has now been removed. In the video, Sajak, standing alongside Vanna White, said, “Get ready for an all-new season of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.” She noted, “Big names, big laughs, and big wins for charity.”

The post’s caption promised: “The stars are coming out for Pat’s final spin! See you October 14 for the season premiere of #CelebrityWheelOfFortune.”

Among the stars competing for $1 million to go to the charity of their choosing are: Rainn Wilson, Ellie Kemper, and Oscar Nuñez from The Office, Josh Gad, Justin Long, and Rachael Harris, who appeared on New Girl, and Veep stars Sam Richardson, Randall Park, and Matt Walsh. Tiffany Haddish, Regina Hall, Joe Manganiello, Katharine McPhee, Andrew Rannells, Pete Holmes, and Cameron Brink are also set to appear.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 41 years,” Vanna, 66, said during the interview.

“I think of Pat [Sajak] as family and always will,” she added.

“We called ourselves Ken and Barbie,” she said.

“I mean, we’re not quite that today. But Ken and Barbie go together and always have. Peanut butter and jelly go together. Pat and Vanna go together.”

Vanna had to consider whether she was ready to leave the show when Pat, 77, told her he was going to retire.

“When Pat told me he was going to retire, it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh. I’m not sure that I’m ready to retire,’” Vanna said.

“So, when I thought about it and thought about it…and I just wasn’t ready to retire.”

With that in mind, Vanna decided to extend her contract for the 2025-2026 season.

She explained that she “loves her job” and loves being on Wheel of Fortune.

If she did ever leave, Vanna said, she would miss her job, yubi, as well as contestants like her favorite, Liz Wright.

The 92-year-old won a prize of $65,000 alongside her son KC after she solved a puzzle about How the Grinch Stole Christmas 41 years ago.

It looks like Vanna is committed to remaining a part of the Wheel of Fortune family for the foreseeable future.

    NEXT SPIN!

Vanna joined Ryan Seacrest earlier in the week to film a new Wheel of Fortune commercial.

Vanna took a hiatus from taping her final season with Pat, 77, to get acquainted with her next co-host on Saturday.

In a photo exclusively obtained by The U.S. Sun, the blonde beauty took to downtown Nashville with the American Idol host by her side.

Vanna sported full makeup, a red leather pantsuit and donned her hair blown out in a country-style getup fitting for her surroundings.

Ryan, meanwhile, opted for a double-breasted blazer and jeans as they walked down the street.

The dynamic duo smiled as fans snapped photos of them from every direction.

The moment is meaningful as it marks Vanna and Ryan’s first time filming together, making it our first look at Wheel’s future.

It also marks Ryan’s first time filming anything related to the beloved game show.

The fan who shared the snap above captioned it on Facebook: “Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White were walking down Broadway filming a commercial for Wheel of Fortune.”

“They look so natural together!” one fan replied.

Other fans posted to Facebook that the pair were filming “promos,” and the snap showed them headed to a venue to do so.

The promos would seemingly air on the show ahead of Ryan’s takeover.

    ‘HE CAN’T SPELL!’

As longtime Wheel of Fortune host Pat prepares to step down in June, his co-host Vanna recently got a cheeky warning about her new counterpart.

“Tell me everything,” White said last month to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos while appearing on their talk show.

Ryan famously co-hosted Live with Kelly and Ryan with Kelly for six years.

“He can’t spell,” Consuelos said, as Ripa agreed, “Yeah, he cannot spell at all.”

Vanna reacted in surprise and said: “Thanks for the warning!” And added they “haven’t had rehearsals yet.”

He then asked Vanna if she had “received texts” from him yet that may have proven as such, to which Vanna said she has.

Kelly then quipped: ”Maybe he’s dictating the texts and somebody’s typing it for him.

“Because, I will say – and I can say this freely, we have all experienced it here – when Ryan Seacrest texts you, you say to yourself, ‘This person is trying to tell me something.’ That’s the first thing.

“It’s that you realize that Ryan is trying to tell you something, but oftentimes, you just don’t know what that is!”

Vanna did say they’ve also communicated via phone, telling the married couple: “I called him to congratulate him on becoming the host.

“He was just so kind, and so he goes, ‘Look, no one’s ever going to replace Pat. I’m not trying to replace Pat.

I’m just thrilled to be able to work with you, and I’ll do whatever it takes. Please teach me whatever I need to know.’”

    PAT’S A WRAP!

It’s nearly the end of an era for the iconic duo of Pat and Vanna.

In June, Pat announced that he would be leaving Wheel of Fortune after 40 years.

Sajak previously posted to X that while “it’s been a wonderful ride,” his 41st season would be his final one.

“Well, the time has come. I’ve decided that our 41st season, which begins in September, will be my last,” he wrote.

He added, “It’s been a wonderful ride, and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Many thanks to you all. (If nothing else, it’ll keep the clickbait sites busy!)”

Earlier this week Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White made a revelation about the show that had a panel of radio hosts – and their entire audience – in disbelief.

Vanna White Claims Salary Rumors Were 'Blown Out Of Proportion'

During an Wednesday appearance on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” White, 68, who has been with the show for over four decades, was asked about the show not filming live every night. She revealed the number of days the crew works in a given year, which prompted utter disbelief from radio hosts.

“We film about 34 days a year,” White said. “That’s it.”

“But [we film] six shows a day. Come on. You could feel bad for me,” she added while the hosts groaned in disbelief.

“I do not feel sorry for you one bit,” Duran quipped. “That sounds like a great job.”

Attempted to grapple with the revelation, co-host Nate Marino asked, “You have 331 days off a year?”

“Yes, I guess so,” White said.

Fans couldn’t believe the admission from White.

“This is why she looks 40.. She’s barely worked a day in her life, she’s cracked the code… the fountain of youth,” one person said.

“Boy she fell on same pay dirt with that job, huh? I wonder why Pat left then? Good for her. God bless her.. I wish I could find myself a gig like that!” offered another.

“34 days of work in a year and your net worth is over 80 million!!! Youuuu WIN!! 👏🏽👏🏽” said a third.

“❤️❤️her, beautiful as ever. My Dad & I used to love watching wheel of fortune together before he died 🥲🥹I still watch it. Ryan is doing a good job too,” said another.

‘Wheel of Fortune’ co-host Vanna White has just made a STARTLING REVEALATION that stunned fans

‘Wheel of Fortune’ co-host Vanna White only works 34 days a year

White, who has hosted the game show for 42 years, shared that 6 episodes are filmed per day

Pat Sajak’s daughter, Maggie Sajak, filled in for Vanna White on an episode of ‘Wheel of Fortune’ because White was one of the contestants playing for charity.

“Wheel of Fortune’s” Vanna White made a surprising revelation about what her work schedule is like at the long-running game show.

During an appearance Wednesday on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” White, 68, who has co-hosted “Wheel of Fortune” 42 years, set the record straight after the radio broadcast’s co-host, Nate Marino, told her he had only recently learned the hit series didn’t air live every night.

“We film about 34 days a year,” White said. “That’s it.”

“But [we film] six shows a day. Come on. You could feel bad for me,” she added as the hosts expressed their amazement.

“I do not feel sorry for you one bit,” Duran quipped. “That sounds like a great job.”

“That’s six different dresses a day,” exclaimed co-host Danielle Monaro.

“It is,” White said with a smile.

Earlier in the show, White noted she had worn over 8,000 dresses during her time on “Wheel of Fortune,” donning a different gown for each episode. For decades, the TV personality had never repeated a dress until one instance in 2020, due to a production mistake.

After that, White and the production crew reportedly established extra precautions to ensure that would not happen again.

Meanwhile, Marino continued to grapple with his astonishment over White’s filming schedule.

“So weird. You have 331 days off a year?” he asked her.

“He’s doing the math,” Duran noted.

“Yes, I guess so,” White said as the hosts laughed.

“And no one deserves it more than you,” Duran said. “You’re just the best.”

The “Vanna Speaks” author made her debut on “Wheel of Fortune” in 1982. White co-hosted the game show alongside Pat Sajak until his retirement last year.

Sajak’s final episode aired June 7, almost a year after he announced June 12, 2023, he was leaving “Wheel of Fortune.” The legendary host returned to “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” Oct. 7 for his final farewell.

In June 2023, “Wheel of Fortune” announced longtime “American Idol” host Ryan Seacreast would replace Sajak after his retirement.

After a clip from White’s appearance was posted on the “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show” Instagram account, fans shared their reactions to her revelation in the comments.

“34 days of work in a year and your net worth is over 80 million!!! Youuuu WIN!!,” one social media user wrote.

During White’s appearance on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show,” Duran noted there must have been “a little bit of an adjustment” after Sajak’s departure.

“And not just for me,” White agreed. “For everybody who watched for 41 years [that] Pat and I have been doing the show. And then Pat decided to retire, and he’s very happy. I saw him a couple of weeks ago. He looks great.

“And Ryan took over, and he’s doing a great job. And he said, ‘Look, no one can ever replace Pat Sajak. I’m just here to fill in.’”

“I feel like you should be in charge now because, like, you’re Vanna White,” Monaro told White. “Like, ‘You listen to me, Ryan Seacrest.’”

“I think maybe he would listen to me, but I don’t have anything to say,” White said with a smile. “He’s doing a fine job.”

‘Wheel of Fortune’s Latest Debacle Proves We Need to Amend the Rules

Wheel of Fortune has had its share of nail-biting momentsout-of-left-field funny guessesheartbreaking losses, and big, big wins. And, as one might expect, the show has no shortage of opinions from fans who believe they’re recycling puzzles too often, or that the bonus round questions are too difficult. Recently, yubi a perpetual bee in the bonnet of fans was met with renewed scrutiny when a law student and single mom from Medina, Ohio, Arzice Salonga, missed out on $1,000 in the game’s first toss-up round because of a mispronunciation of the word “safari.” It’s ridiculous and unfair, and proves that Wheel of Fortune needs to amend their rules.

The ‘Wheel of Fortune’ “Event” Clue Debacle of February 2025

The category for the now-notorious moment was “Event,” and on the board was a clue with two words that read, “A F _ I _ _ N / _ A _ A _ _,” with $1K on the line. Salonga, a one-time Philadelphia Eagles cheerleader, buzzed in and answered “African Safari,” which was apparently incorrect. Longview’s Brian Nelson then buzzed in and answered “African Safari,” which was, in fact, correct. Now you may be asking yourself just how two identical answers can be both right and wrong, provided this wasn’t a Bizarro Wheel of Fortune, but there is a way, which is why fans’ knickers are in a knot.

As the old adage goes, “It’s not what you say but how you say it,” and that would be the reason why Salonga was deemed incorrect with her guess. Salonga pronounced the word “safari” as “sa-FAIR-ee,” while Nelson pronounced it as “sa-FAR-ee,” which was ruled correct. Host Ryan Seacrest would confirm, saying, “Yes, safari is the way you have to say that. I just checked with our judges to make sure.” Salonga’s look was one of shock which, undoubtedly, mirrored the looks of many Wheel of Fortune viewers with the ruling.

The “Safari” Debacle Proves the Need to Amend the ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Rules

Fans took to social media with divided opinions. Those who agreed with the Wheel of Fortune judges commented that, on a show about words, those words should be pronounced correctly, while another simply wrote, “Never heard someone mispronounce ‘Safari’ as ‘Sa-fair-ee.’” But the popular opinion is that Salonga was robbed, claiming it was clearly obvious what she meant when she said “safari” the way she did. Another cited inconsistencies with similar moments on the show, with one arguing, “Now they know good and well they should have given her ‘Sa-fair-ree’. Yes, it’s pronounced saFARi, but still, slight cultural variation has been considered before.”

It’s the secret sauce to puzzling success.

Pronunciation has always been a controversial topic, not just on Wheel of Fortune, but on others like Jeopardy. But it’s not like Salonga was blatantly incorrect, not like, say, answering “Right in the butt” instead of the correct “This is the best.” “Sa-fair-ee” is an odd pronunciation for sure, but to declare it as incorrect doesn’t allow for cultural linguistics or other reasons that justify pronouncing it the way Salonga did.

At worst, it’s a “potato, potahto, tomato, tomahto” argument, with what’s being talked about being obvious even with the slight variation in pronunciation. By rights, it should hardly even require amending the rules in the first place, when simple common sense says that the contestant is identifying the word correctly and in context. But by all means, amend the rule, if common sense is as overtly elusive as it appears to be. In this case, a favorable ruling would likely have seen Salonga win the game, or at the very least make it to the bonus round, based solely on the fact that her final tally of $15,698 fell just short of the $17,650 the winner had.

The Price Is Right Games In Retirement

The Price Is Right has several games that have been retired. This may be due to financial reasons, viewer requests, or just because they were not liked by the production team. For example, games in retirement include, Add Em’ Up, Bullseye I, Hit Me, Hurdles, Penny Ante, The Phone Home Game, Super Ball!!, Trader Bob, and Walk Of Fame.

However, there may be another game being added to that list. Fans would like to see some of these games back. However, not all are missed. These games were all retired while Bob Barker was the host of the game show.

The Game That May Get Retired

Viewers are hoping to see the game, 3 Strikes, retired as well. They think the game is just too hard and it is not enjoyable to watch. Fans went to Reddit to give their opinions.

    Hardest: Three Strikes

Three Strikes is basically a middle finger to anyone who wants to win a car.

    3 Strikes is the hardest.

If you’re lucky enough to get your the show and they reveal Stack the Deck or 3 Strikes to you, just walk off the stage and wait for the Showcase Showdown.

3 Strikes is not a fun game

I legitimately can’t remember the last time I saw a player get more than 1, maybe 2 numbers before striking out so I’m not a fan of this game either lol,

I despise 3 strikes. Way too much luck involved,

Fans are not loving the game. It is not easy and does not result in many wins.

It seems that 3 Strikes is the hardest game in fans’ opinions. They do not think it is fair to the contestant. While it is a rare game to see, viewers would not mind never seeing it again. They would like to see more contestants winning cars and not losing.

However, easier games may not be in the show’s best interest due to financial reasons. What do you think about the game? Would you like to see it get laid to rest? Sound off in the comments below.
