There have been many controversial television shows that have aired over the years. Beavis and Butt-head, South Park, 13 Reasons Why, and Euphoria have all received criticism for things like glorifying drug use, having profane humor, and including insensitive themes. Series such as Ryan Murphy‘s American Horror Story and both iterations of Monster have brought about controversy, often in the name of inspiring shock value with audiences. However, even though these shows might have incited some outrage, none of them are a match for a British series in 1990 that only lasted one single episode.

‘Heil Honey I’m Home!’ Had an Extremely Offensive Premise

'Heil Honey I'm Home!' title card

In 1989, comedy writer Geoff Atkinson had the ill-advised idea to write a sitcom called Heil Honey I’m Home!, which centered around the most-hated man on Earth: Adolf Hitler. Atkinson’s original concept was to craft a comedy about Hitler that would actually have audiences laughing at the man, instead of fearing him. In a 2019 panel entitled “No Joke: Absurd Comedy as Political Reality,” Atkinson noted, “My thinking was, how do you deal with a bully? There’s an argument that it’s equally good to destroy him once and for all by turning him into a joke…that was the simple driving force.” The premise of the show was that Hitler (Neil McCaul) and his wife, Eva Braun (Denica Fairman), find themselves in 1938 (before World War II has fully broken out) as a happy domestic couple, who just happen to live next door to a Jewish husband and wife named the Goldensteins (they weren’t digging too deep with this one).

The first episode starts out with a credit that says that what follows comes from the “lost tapes” of an American sitcom that never aired. What ensues is supposedly a spoof of an American sitcom, complete with Hitler as a brash buffoon (typical of classic US comedies up until then, a la I Love Lucy or The Honeymooners). During the pilot episode of Heil Honey, I’m Home!, Hitler is set to host the British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain (Patrick Cargill) at his house, but is worried that the Goldensteins will interrupt his plan of signing the Munich agreement.

The neighbors end up getting drunk, crashing the dinner, and doing a conga line with Chamberlain — thus foiling Hitler’s plans. The episode never depicts Hitler as a mass murderer at all, but rather has him joking around in a playful manner (who is merely frustrated by his hapless neighbors). In one scene, Hitler is late for Eva’s dinner, and slaps himself on the wrists, while calling himself a “very, very bad Hitler.” Although the episode is available to watch now on YouTube, the highly offensive pilot is the only episode to ever air of the series. Later episodes did depict Hitler trying to kill his Jewish neighbors, which would undoubtedly have been a bridge too far for some people’s comedic sensibilities.

Most Controversial TV Shows of All Time

‘Heil Honey I’m Home!’ Suffered a Not-So-Surprising Fate

Although it’s difficult to see why this show would ever have been greenlit in the first place, the Heil Honey, I’m Home! series had actually been ordered for a 13-episode run. In fact, eight episodes had already been recorded when the pilot episode aired on Galaxy, a British Satellite Broadcasting (BSB) station. However, the series was immediately denounced by England’s biggest Jewish organization, the Board of Deputies of British Jews. A spokesperson stated at the time, “We are against any trivialization of the Second World War, Hitler, or the Holocaust, and this certainly trivializes those things. It’s very distasteful.” In one 1992 book exploring a brief history of television, the show was called “perhaps the world’s most tasteless situation comedy.”

The team behind Heil Honey I’m Home! insisted that the show was still aiming to villainize Hitler by making him more relatable, and claimed that the series was also meant to be a spoof of American sitcoms. It certainly seemed to fail on both of these fronts. It was cancelled after the pilot episode aired. Besides its insensitive subject matter, there was another reason why the series failed so early on.

The network had been losing money at that point in time, and ended up merging with another satellite network, Rupert Murdoch‘s Sky Television. Just a few months after the pilot aired, most of the programming from the original network had been scrapped. It’s unlikely that the series would have been remembered as anything other than in poor taste, but on the business side of things, it seems the show would always have been doomed no matter what.

Other Projects, Such as ‘Jojo Rabbit,’ Have Successfully Taken on This Sensitive Topic

Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi) and Jojo (Roman Griffin Davis) look straight ahead in 'Jojo Rabbit.'

It’s not to say that the topic of Hitler and the Holocaust have never been told with humor. In 1967, The Producers, tells the story of a creative Broadway team who need a flop to avoid being caught for embezzlement. They write a musical about Hitler because they know that nobody would want to see something called Springtime for Hitler. Unfortunately, audiences believe the show to be a satire, and the musical is a hit. The film was adapted as a Broadway musical in 2001, which was then made into another movie in 2005, and each iteration is a great example of using humor to make light of an incredibly dark time in history.

Taika Waititi‘s 2019 Oscar-winning film, Jojo Rabbit, also uses a humorous portrayal of Hitler, as the imaginary friend of a little boy growing up in Nazi Germany. Even the 1940 film, The Great Dictator, starring Charlie Chaplin, was able to effectively utilize satire to create a dark comedy depicting the fascist leader. All of these projects seemed to nail what Heil Honey, I’m Home! was lacking: a clear and pointed perspective that seemed to acknowledge the atrocities of the Holocaust in a satirical way.

Not everyone on the Heil Honey, I’m Home! team looks back on the project with regret. Caroline Gruber, who played Rosa Goldenstein, first starred in Perdition, a 1987 play that was cancelled a mere 36 hours before the first performance for being anti-Semitic. The actor, who was Jewish herself, said in an interview, “Because of this experience, I was sensitive about doing anything that was offensive or upsetting. I didn’t think Heil Honey was either — I thought it was so funny. When I was reading through the scripts for the other episodes… I had tears pouring down my cheeks. I was of the opinion — and still am now — that within reason, people should take risks.” Seems like not everyone would agree with her, as the remaining episodes of Heil Honey, I’m Home! have never been seen by the public.

Voice Coach Niall Horan’s “Sad” Decision Leaves Fans Absolutely Fuming

‘Voice’ Fans Are Left Furious with Niall Horan After His “Sad” Move

He’s just taking a little break to go on tour, but left all of us in good hands.

Voice fans are usually talking about singer Niall Horan on social media because of his hilarious banter with the other three judges John Legend, Gwen Stefani and Reba McEntire, as well as his cheeky personality, but this week, the discussion isn’t as positive as in the past.

“The Voice” Coaches: Past and Present

Fans became confused and upset when the official Instagram account for NBC’s The Voice shared a clip of Niall telling his remaining team of nine that he would be stepping away from filming of Season 24 for a while because of his hectic touring schedule. “I’ve got a bit of news for you. Because of my concert schedule, I actually won’t be in town for knockout rehearsals,” Niall tells his team over video chat in the clip. “Because I won’t be there, I’ve chosen another coach to mentor you guys during your rehearsals. And it’s not just one coach. It’s two.”

The 30-year-old went on to announce that pop duo Dan + Shay would be stepping in for him since he couldn’t be there.

Although the twosome is hardly underqualified, social media had a lot of mixed reactions to the surprising news.

“What? Niall, why did you agree to do this season if you weren’t able to be here for all of it? Love you, but maybe it would have been better to have let someone else do it this time?”, one upset fan commented.”Saddest yet most exciting news I’ve ever heard?!?!? 🫶🫶🫶”, someone else wrote. “So Niall will not [be] on The Voice anymore?”, another disappointed fan said. A different person enthusiastically chimed in, “@danandshay are the absolute best! Let’s go! 🔥❤️.” Someone else, who was very upst, said, “Will @niallhoran be back for winning Night ? If not please advise cuz he’s the reason I’ve come back to the Voice ! Last minute bad news is not appreciated ! … Unprofessional to say the least !

With all the confusion, we’re here to tell Niall fans not to worry just yet! Although Niall will not be in most of the rehearsals for Knockouts, Dan + Shay are currently only considered “temporary” replacements for the time being since the One Direction alum will be back for the rest of Season 24. According to Soaps.com, he confirmed on his Instagram story on November 7 that he “only missed the knockout rehearsals, but returned to film the rest of knockout rounds themselves and the rest of The Voice Season 24 after his festival run.”

The Voice Recap: Listen to the Blind That Left Niall Horan… Well, Like This

That said, Niall has confirmed that Season 24 will be his last due to his busy schedule, and Season 25 is when Dan + Shay will officially take over for the “Nice to Meet Ya” singer. They will be the first “duo coach pair.”

Reba McEntire and Rex Linn are happier than ever after celebrating five years together, and friends are urging the former NCIS actor to finally propose and put a ring on her finger, a source exclusively tells Closer.

“Rex and Reba are so in love, and she is a very traditional woman. It’s hard to imagine she wouldn’t want to get married,” the insider says.

The source notes that the “I’m a Survivor” singer, 69, and the Young Sheldon actor, 68, “already act like a married couple,” so they might as well make things official!

“They’ve been inseparable since almost day one,” the insider continues. However, there’s one thing that could stand in the way of the couple taking the next step in their relationship.

“Reba isn’t the type to do the asking. If it’s going to happen, Rex has to take the lead, and the problem is, he’s quite a commitment-phobe,” the source says. “He’s never been married. There’s a reason for that, and it’s not for a lack of women that wanted to marry him.”

While Rex has yet to make it down the aisle, Reba has been married twice — first to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and then to Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015.

Though Reba “plays it cool and would never pressure” Rex into marriage, the source concludes that his “family and friends think he’s crazy for not locking her down and they’re telling him not to miss this shot. As much as she acts laissez-faire, deep down she does want to get to that next level, and if Rex doesn’t step up to the plate the worry is that she might lose interest.”

Reba and Rex first met on the set of The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw in 1991. Nearly 30 years later, the pair reconnected when the Reba star made a guest appearance on Young Sheldon in 2020, and they began dating soon after.

Five years later, the couple is still going strong and celebrated their anniversary on January 24.

“Celebrating five years of tater tots this week! #thetots #anniversary,” Reba captioned a set of photos, referencing the sweet “Tot” nicknames they gave each other.

The “Fancy” singer once explained that Rex started calling her “Tater Tot” when they were out to dinner one night and went to a wine bar afterward. When a waiter told her about the appetizers, she raised her hand when he said they had tater tots.

“And so Rex said, ‘That’s your nickname from here on out: Tater Tot,’” Reba explained during a March 2023 appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show.

Reba also decided that she would call Rex “Sugar Tot.”

“We’re the tots, Sugar and Tater,” she continued. “So, we’ve been together ever since. He’s a sweetheart.”

Though Reba is leaving the ball in Rex’s court when it comes to getting engaged, a source previously told Closer in May 2024 that it’s definitely something she’s looking forward to.

“Reba never wanted to get divorced from Narvel, but she believes in second chances and feels she’s met her true soulmate in Rex,” the insider said. “She says getting married is ‘up to him’ but that’s code for ‘put a ring on it!’ She wants the fairy tale.”

[EMOTIONAL] “The Voice” Season 28 Coach Michael Bublé Leaves Fans Speechless and Teary-Eyed with an Emotional Letter to His Beloved Family

The Voice Coach Season 28 Michael Bublé moved fans to tears with an emotional letter to his family.

Michael Bublé, The Man With A Voice That Could Melt Glaciers And A Heart As Big As His Talent, Just Gave Us All The Feels On The Voice. This Wasn’T Just Another Episode—It Was A Love Letter To Family, A Moment So Heartfelt It Could Make A Stone Cry

The beloved crooner showcases new tattoos and nostalgia as he returns to coach on the hit show.

Michael Bublé is back as one of the familiar faces on the latest season of The Voice, and not only has he returned to the big red chairs, but he’s also sporting some new personal ink to celebrate his family. This year, he aims to captivate audiences and contestants alike with his newfound look, as well as reminding everyone of his devotion to his children through his tattoos. The iconic jazz-pop singer, known for hits like “Home” and “Feeling Good,” has marked his love for his family permanently on his body. Bublé, 49, has four tattoos on his left arm representing his children’s names: Noah, Elias, Vida, and Cielo. They are beautifully etched from the base of his wrist to his forearm. The artist humorously documented this newest addition, the name of his 2-year-old daughter, Cielo, through social media last December. “Okay, I’m ready,” Bublé said, playfully winching as the needle approached. “What if we just call her C?” he jested, leaving fans laughing with his light-hearted humor about parenting.

Bublé married Argentine actress and model Luisa Lopilato back in 2011, two years after she starred in his music video for “Haven’t Met You Yet.” Together, they share four children: Noah, 11, Elias, 9, Vida, 6, and Cielo, 2. Their family has become central to Bublé’s identity. His playful remark on social media, “I’ve got enough space for at least six more kids. They will have one syllable names,” showcased just how far his dedication to family extends.

This season, Bublé is the only returning coach from last season, aiming to build on the momentum of his earlier success. The Voice Season 28 premiered on Monday, February 3, airing on NBC, marking the start of what promises to be another thrilling contest of talent. Joining him are fellow veterans Adam Levine and John Legend, along with the season’s newcomer, Kelsea Ballerini, all vying for the best contestants.

At the premiere, Bublé didn’t miss the chance to highlight his amusing side when he shared some old photos of himself. During one particularly memorable moment, he displayed a younger version of himself sporting what he referred to as a “shoulder-length mullet.” This playful tactic was aimed at convincing contestant Ethan Eckenroad to join his team. When Eckenroad delivered a strong audition with Noah Kahan’s “Northern Attitude,” Bublé surely aimed to showcase his personality beyond just being the familiar crooner. “Yo Ethan, I love country. I can even prove to you how much I love country,” he enthusiastically stated as the photo of his mullet flickered onto the screen. Ballerini’s reaction to the image was priceless; the country artist’s jaw dropped, illustrating the cutting-edge shock of Bublé’s transformation.

John Legend took the opportunity to quip, “I told you he was related to Blake [Shelton],” adding some levity to the banter between the judges. This light-hearted competition is something fans recognize from The Voice, where relationships and humor often color the competitive atmosphere. Other judges also pulled out all the stops to secure Eckenroad, with Legend praising the contestant’s poise and soulful voice. Legend noted, “I’m so impressed by your poise, by the soulfulness of your voice, it was just a beautiful experience for us,” emphasizing the competitive camaraderie shared among the judges.

Michael Bublé reveals why he turned down 'The Voice' at least 15 times

While the banter continued between Bublé, Levine, and Legend, the contestants did not go short on humor or charm. Eckenroad’s candid remarks about considering adopting the mullet hairstyle for himself brought alignment with Bublé’s nostalgic tactic, indicating the power of connections through style and comfort during auditions.

The coaching competition on The Voice isn’t just about finding the best voice. For Bublé, it’s also about the emotional threads he weaves through personal stories and shared laughter. The multifaceted roles of being both a father and performer give him unique credibility as he aims to inspire the next generation of musicians. The smoothiest singer’s transition from belting tunes to ink, along with heartwarming family stories, adds layers to his public persona.

And so, as he returns to The Voice, fans can expect much more than just traditional mentoring. Michael Bublé is weaving tales of humor, nostalgia, and family ties, making this season’s competition even more generous and entertaining. The combination of his sincerity, laughter, and those fantastic family tattoos are sure to strike the right chords.

Summer is flying by, but for fans of The Voice, that means season 28 is getting closer by the minute.

NBC announced in May that the long-running singing competition would return for another installment after season 27 saw coach Michael Bublé emerge victorious with artist Adam David.

“There’s no losing when you get to be on this show,” Bublé, who is one of the coaches returning in season 28, told Entertainment Tonight after his win. “I got to work with the most beautiful artists, and I sat beside my favorite musicians on the planet. People like John Legend and Adam Levine and Kelsea Ballerini, who were gracious and humble and funny and smart and are so talented, and so there was not a day that I didn’t feel like I was winning.”

Below, Us Weekly shares everything fans need to know about the upcoming season, including when it begins, who’s on the coaching panel and more:

When Does ‘The Voice’ Season 28 Premiere?

The Voice season 28 is slated to start airing sometime in September, although an exact premiere date has not been announced. It is expected to return to its usual Monday night at 8 p.m. ET time slot, with a possible return to its Tuesday night at 8 or 9 p.m. ET slot.

Who Are the Coaches on ‘The Voice’ Season 28?

Snoop Dogg was the first coach to be announced as part of the coaching lineup for season 28. His involvement came as part of a multiyear deal with NBCUniversal alongside his production company, Death Row Pictures, Deadline reported in April.

“Not everyone has the courage and vision to see what Death Row Pictures can bring to the table, but Donna [Langley] and the NBCUniversal team have always understood, which is why I am proud to call NBCUniversal my new home,” the rapper said in a statement at the time. “The Dogg has officially moved into the neighborhood, ya dig?”

There’s only one Snoop, and we’re so excited for him to join our unbelievable roster of creative partners.”

Snoop previously made his debut as a coach on The Voice in season 26 and expressed interest in returning.

“It’s been a great experience for me,” he told host Carson Daly at the end of his inaugural season. “I didn’t know what I was signing on to, but I do know it feels like I could come back and do it again.”

The remaining three coaches were announced the following month.

‘CBS Mornings’ co-host Tony Dokoupil rips Jon Stewart, says ‘one-sided’ Stephen Colbert went too left

“CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil defended his bosses at the Tiffany Network for axing Stephen Colbert’s show — while also taking aim at Jon Stewart for alleging there was a political motive in making the cost-cutting move.

Dokoupil, who was famously upbraided by management for a tense on-air debate with author Ta-Nehisi Coates over his book critical of Israel, broke with his co‑hosts on Tuesday to blame Colbert’s “one-sided” commentary for his own cancellation.

Dokoupil said on Tuesday that “no one seems to acknowledge” that “the politics has also changed” in recent years and that Colbert “got way more one-sided than anything Johnny Carson was ever doing.”

“I think we should reflect on those changes as well. It’s been a big shift culturally in that regard, also for sure,” he said during a tense discussion on the morning show on Tuesday.

Dokoupil also torched “Daily Show” host Stewart’s claims that Paramount’s decision to drop “The Late Show” was influenced by “corporate fear.” Stewart’s long-running show airs on Comedy Central, which like CBS is a subsidiary of Paramount.

On Tuesday’s edition of “CBS Mornings,” co‑host Vladimir Duthiers spotlighted points made in Stewart’s monologue in which he defended “The Late Show,”accusing corporate parent Paramount of feeling its merger with Skydance Media was threatened by Colbert’s work.

CBS announced that Stephen Colbert's "Late Show" will cease production next year.
CBS announced that Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” will cease production next year. AP
After the clips of Stewart rolled, Duthiers lamented that despite the “financials” and “reality of where linear television is” he was a fan and hated to see the shows go.

“I know they’re expensive to produce, but they are part of the cultural zeitgeist and they have been part of television since that since the beginning of television, he said.

“So that’s why people are reacting the way that they are.”

After an audible sigh, Dokoupil cut in to reject Stewart’s notion that The Late Show represented a significant part of the merger valuation: “No, I understand the emotional views. I don’t have an MBA but he’s not right that the merger, the $8 billion, is based on reruns of a comedy show, no.”

Colbert "got way more one-sided than anything Johnny Carson was ever doing," according to Dokoupil.

“People are buying the movies and the sitcoms and the sports,” Dokoupil said. “They’re not based on reruns of us either, so I think it’s wrong.”

Co‑host Gayle King interjected, defending Stewart’s claim that Colbert’s show “contributed to” the merger valuation.

“He’s saying it’s all encompassing, the whole package,” Duthiers agreed.

    Dokoupil, however, doubled down.

“Oh, that already happened in the past and he also acknowledged that these late-night shows are what he called like a Blockbuster kiosk inside a Tower Record — so the business is broken,” Dokoupil said.

The cancellation of “The Late Show” came just a week after the network made headlines for its $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump over a “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris that he alleged was deceptively edited.

Colbert slammed his bosses at Paramount for what he called a “big fat bribe” that was paid to Trump.

The Post has sought comment from CBS News, Paramount, Stewart and Colbert.

CBS said last week that it will end “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and retire the entire franchise in May 2026, calling the move “purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night” and “not related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”

Paramount co-CEO George Cheeks reiterated the financial rationale as industry data show the economics have soured.

Broadcast late‑night ad revenue fell to about $220 million in 2024 from $439 million in 2018, and ad spend on “The Late Show” slid from roughly $121 million in 2018 to about $70 million in 2024 amid shrinking audiences.

A White House spokesperson WARNED “The View” co-host Joy Behar after her latest tirade against President Donald Trump on Wednesday

White House says ‘The View’ could be cancelled next following Joy Behar’s anti-Trump tirade.

A White House spokesperson warned “The View” co-host Joy Behar that her show could be next on the chopping block after her latest tirade against President Donald Trump on Wednesday.

During the show, Behar and her fellow hosts responded to Trump’s call for former President Barack Obama to be criminally investigated for allegedly manufacturing intelligence that prompted the Trump–Russia collusion narrative.

“First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6?” Behar said. “Who was that again? That was not Obama.

“The thing about him is he’s so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green’s song ‘Let’s Stay Together’ better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It’s driving him crazy. Green is not a good color.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers called out the show’s ratings and suggested it could be “pulled off-air” if Behar didn’t stop attacking Trump.

“Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s no surprise that ‘The View’s’ ratings hit an all-time low last year. She should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off-air,” Rogers said.

In a response provided to Entertainment Weekly, a spokesperson for “The View” defended the show by claiming it “is up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years” and that “season to date, ‘The View’ is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season.”

Fox News Digital reached out to “The View” for additional comment.

The statement came nearly a week after CBS announced “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” would be canceled next May at the end of its broadcast season.

Though CBS and parent company Paramount said that the choice to cancel the series was “purely a financial decision,” and the show was reportedly losing the network $40 million a year, many liberal commentators have claimed it was for political reasons because of Colbert’s anti-Trump stance.

According to a new report, Colbert’s manager knew that “The Late Show” would be canceled at CBS more than two weeks before his client did, and multiple sources said the decision to cancel the show was “truly driven by financials.”

Gayle King’s 13-year career at CBS News may finally be coming to an end: sources

Gayle King’s time at CBS may be running out.

The star host of “CBS Mornings” — who began her early a.m. stint at the Tiffany Network in 2012 alongside Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell — will face tough negotiations to renew a contract that’s coming due in September, sources told The Post.

Insiders said the 70-year-old King’s salary, pegged at more than $10 million, is far too high to justify her show’s plummeting ratings. As previously reported by The Post, King’s yearly compensation got trimmed last year from $13 million when she inked a new one-year deal.

“This could be Gayle’s last year,” according to a media insider close to the Tiffany Network.

When King re-upped last year, CBS parent Paramount Global was in the throes of steep budget cuts ahead of its proposed merger with Hollywood studio Skydance Media.

The company is still in upheaval. On Monday, CBS News boss Wendy McMahon stepped down amid steep ratings declines at “CBS Mornings” and “CBS Evening News,” which she tried to overhaul with a new format and anchor lineup.

Now, No. 2 executive, CBS News president Tom Cibrowski, will try to stem the bleeding — which could get worse if King leaves.

“Tom doesn’t have enough hands to plug the holes in the dam,” said a CBS insider, who noted that losing King would majorly shake up the morning program and be another problem the veteran programmer would have to solve.

Paramount is expected to kick off another round of brutal cuts as part of its mandate to slash $500 million as soon as next month. Assuming Skydance and Paramount close its deal, new management from Skydance are expected to continue cutting, a well-placed source told The Post.

“The first year of the merger will just be consolidation,” the person said.

Skydance declined to comment, but a source close to the company said: “No one has given any thought to Gayle King’s contract as there are clearly other priorities to tackle.”

For King, another big one-year deal will be a “miracle,” a third source added, explaining that CBS has been offering one-year contracts because the anchor is “too expensive.”

Normally, talent contracts are for roughly three years. Another person said that King prefers one-year contracts as she is weighing her options on what to do next.

“Gayle sees the writing on the wall,” the person said.

CBS News and King did not respond to requests for comment.

Although King is the face of the network, she doesn’t have much bargaining leverage, sources said. While she could opt to take another pay cut, it would likely be far steeper this time as the embattled news division’s ratings continue to sink.

Her last-placed show, which she co-hosts with Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson, hit a new low since it was relaunched in September 2021.

In recent weeks, the program’s total viewership sunk below 2 million despite a major boost on April 14 for exclusive coverage of King’s space flight on Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin rocket.

The anchor took an 11-minute ride to the edge of space with an all-female crew that included pop star Katy Perry and the Amazon founder’s fiancée Lauren Sanchez – helping her show turn in a rare first-place ratings finish.

The spectacle drew roughly 3.9 million total viewers, rocketing past ABC’s “Good Morning America” and NBC’s “Today,” which reeled in 2.7 million and 2.5 million viewers, respectively, according to Nielsen ratings.

“CBS Mornings’” ratings, however, have since come back to Earth, with 1.9 million viewers in the week of May 5, trailing NBC with 2.6 million and ABC with 2.7 million viewers.

“Skydance is definitely not going to keep her with those numbers,” the first source said.

While Skydance is widely expected to merge with Paramount in the coming months, the deal is facing hurdles.

Currently, Paramount is in talks with Trump’s lawyers over his $20 billion lawsuit over “60 Minutes’” editing of its sit-down with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump’s FCC chair Brendan Carr is also looking into the matter.
