Fans Call Ryan Seacrest “Unwatchable” On ‘Wheel of Fortune’ As He Worries For His Career

    Summary

Fans upset over Seacrest’s Wheel of Fortune role, replacing retired host Sajak.
Seacrest faces backlash for promo clip with bricks, fans calling him bland.
Report suggests Seacrest regrets role due to high expectations, salary controversy.

Ryan Seacrest’s new Wheel of Fortune role is off to a rough start, as a recent promotional clip didn’t land well with fans.

The teaser, shared on Instagram, shows Seacrest standing beside his co-host, Vanna White, on the iconic game show’s set. Enthusiastically, Ryan declared, “I can’t wait to get to work,” while Vanna, holding a megaphone, cheered, “Let’s get you ready for fall.”

The scene then shifts to both hosts leaning over the wheel, now adorned with a pile of bricks. Ryan, after giving the wheel a spin, commented to Vanna, “You weren’t kidding, this is great for the biceps.” Vanna, smiling, lifted two bricks in bicep curls as Ryan made a funny face towards the camera.

The caption accompanying the video humorously noted, “Ryan’s building his Wheel-spinning muscles – one brick at a time.”

Why Fans Are Angry At Seacrest’s Hosting

Despite the video’s playful tone, fans expressed their dissatisfaction with Ryan replacing Pat Sajak, who retired at the age of 77 after his final episode on June 7.

One critic harshly stated, “What a poor choice!” Another discontented viewer lamented, “I can’t believe I can never watch Wheel of Fortune again….” A third mocked Ryan, saying, “Seacrest is so bland.” Another simply declared, “I won’t be watching,” while yet another disgruntled fan commented, “I can’t wait until I don’t watch you.”

A more understanding fan wished Ryan well, saying, “Pat Sajak left some huge shoes to fill, I wish Ryan Seacrest the best of luck in this new role! Y’all gotta remember, everyone is new at something at some point.”

Seacrest Allegedly Regrets ‘Wheel of Fortune’

While Seacrest hasn’t responded to the backlash, a previous report said he was already having anxiety over hosting Wheel of Fortune, as he’s realizing what big expectations he’s facing as Sajak’s replacement.

“Despite his glittering résumé, Seacrest is terrified,” a source told Closer. “He breezed through hosting Idol and had Kelly Ripa to lean on during Live — but Wheel is a different beast altogether.”

“The entire future of this beloved show now hangs on his shoulders, and he knows it!” they continued, adding Ryan knows how harmful it’ll be to his career if his new hosting gig flops. “It’s the biggest risk of his career. Ryan’s always been the picture of charm and confidence — but this time, the stakes are higher than ever!”

The announcement of Seacrest as the new host previously sparked controversy, primarily due to reports that his salary is in the tens of millions. This revelation came alongside the unsettling news that Vanna, who has been co-hosting with Pat Sajak since the show’s inception, had not received a pay raise in nearly two decades.

In response to this disparity, Vanna sought legal counsel and was reportedly prepared to leave the show. Behind closed doors, negotiations took place to secure a new salary for her. However, it remains uncertain whether her new compensation matches that of Seacrest, despite his being the newcomer.

Seacrest is currently filming Wheel of Fortune episodes, which are expected to air in the fall.

Jack Shannon was picked on the April 29 episode.

After putting in his bid on a DSLR camera, he guessed the closest amount and was picked for the next showcase.

Before beginning the round, Drew, 65, greeted Jack and told viewers that he was there with his father.

“Jack and his father making a living, it’s a family business where they make labels for like wine bottles, beer, paint can, anything you want,” Drew said.

“What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to make a label for?”

Jack thought about it and came up with octagon bottles.

“Oh wow. What an exciting life Jack leads,” Drew joked, stepping closer to the camera.

Jack laughed nervously and Drew joined in on his laughter.

“Still talking about those octagon bottles,” the host laughed.

They then moved on to the prizes he could get if he won the game.

    DREW’S ENCOUNTER

Jack’s dad, Richard, posted a photo of them waiting to see if they got picked on Reddit.

He told the platform users that Drew came over and shook both of their hands.

Richard said that Drew remembered about his business since his wife had won the day before.

Drew then turned to Jack and asked if he worked for his dad and about going to college.

He didn’t think they would get chosen, but he was wrong.

    ‘NOT FUNNY!’

While most fans expressed their excitement and congratulated Jack for getting on the show, others pointed out that Drew comment was not funny.

“Didn’t like Drew asking what the strangest thing labeled and then laughing at him saying ‘still talking about those octagon bottles,’” one fan said.

“He asked & then laughs & pokes fun about an exciting life. Not nice and not funny!”

“He’s a young guy following his father’s business. Still rude & not funny,” another fan agreed.

“I didn’t like that either. I happened to be just tuning into the show right at that moment, so I did not hear the context. But it was not nice for Drew to poke fun at the young man like that. A joke at a contestant’s expense is never okay,” a third chimed in.

However, other fans defended Drew by saying that he was poking fun at his job and not him.

    Ken Jennings
    Jeopardy!/YouTube

The recent Jeopardy! Masters tournament, which was won by James Holzhauer, allowed the show’s producers to try out some new things. But not all these format changes will be sticking around.

In addition to introducing a soccer-style points-based format for a win, Masters let viewers see where the Daily Doubles were hidden on the board. However, yubi the latter idea might be a one-and-done deal, as the show’s executive producer Michael Davies admits wasn’t a fan.

“[Masters] was every bit as good as I hoped it was going to be, and I think we can make it better in the future,” Davies said on the most recent episode of the Inside Jeopardy! podcast. And it seems one of those ways to improve the show could be getting rid of the Daily Double reveals.

“Almost everybody’s asking me about the reveal of the Daily Double,” Davies continued. “That is almost the minor detail that was done as a format gift to ABC. I’m sort of on the fence about it; it feels to me like a bit of a stage weight, to be honest, and it was my idea, but we don’t really need it.”

“I’d love it to be part of a companion app,” he added. “And I think that we need to really look at the shot sequence of the selection of categories and how the clue then goes full screen, and we either need to get the category on the full-screen clue or we need to change the shot sequence so it’s very clear from which the clue is coming.”

Jeopardy!' Boss Reveals Brand New Set & Other Changes Coming to Show - IMDb

Davies’ comments come in contrast to what host Ken Jennings said last month when speaking to WISN Channel 12 Milwaukee News about the Masters tournament and the new Daily Double format.

“I don’t know if we’ll try it on the syndicated show,” Jennings said, “but I really like it because the host always knows where the Daily Doubles are in advance, so I get to watch a contestant who really needs the Daily Double kind of advance towards it, ‘Oh, is she gonna get it? Oh no, she’s switched categories!”

As for the Jeopardy! fans, opinion was split on revealing the Daily Doubles. “It’s a fun thing to try,” wrote one viewer on the Jeopardy! Reddit forum. “For those who want to know or think the games were rigged, this satisfies them. For those who want to stick to tradition, closing your eyes for 5-10 seconds isn’t a big deal.”

“I’m totally indifferent to it,” said another. “When I watch Jeopardy! I’m never actively thinking “Ooh, where are the Daily Doubles?” There’s no “spoiler” aspect to me by revealing where they are before the round.”

Another viewer added, “I don’t see the point of it. It doesn’t add anything to the game (especially since their locations aren’t revealed to the contestants) and it really just isn’t necessary for viewers to know.”

The Tragedy Of Fox News Host Shannon Bream Is So Sad

Fox News has become synonymous with big scandals and controversial hosts (think Sean Hannity and Pete Hegseth), but the network isn’t just home to firebrand anchors. Take Shannon Bream, for example. The Liberty University graduate (who also holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Florida State University College of Law), started her career at Fox News in 2007 as a Supreme Court correspondent. In 2022, she was promoted to “FOX News Sunday” as the show’s first full-time female anchor. As she explained following the announcement, her goal was to push for accountability from politicians on both sides. “What we want to do is have deep, meaningful conversations where people are going to be pressed to express their positions,” she mused, per Variety.

In the years since, that’s exactly what she’s done, even suffering the wrath of Donald Trump with her refusal to accept his team’s claims. As one fan wrote on Facebook, “She is so kind, tolerant and always open to hearing different views on the political spectrum.” That trait likely comes from the fact that Bream doesn’t take her good fortune for granted. She’s been through her share of hardship but has never given up, not even in the darkest of times. This is the tragic truth of Shannon Bream.

Shannon Bream’s husband received a tragic health diagnosis ahead of their nuptials

Shannon and Sheldon Bream have been happily married since 1995, but as the Fox News host tweeted in 2023, it hasn’t always been easy. “We couldn’t have known the difficult things that would come,” she mused. The most trying have been the numerous health scares the couple has faced through the years, starting with a 24-year-old Sheldon’s brain tumor diagnosis. As Shannon told Fox Nation in 2020, they were planning their wedding when her then-fiance began experiencing a non-stop ringing in his ear. The ailment was first misdiagnosed as an ear infection, but further testing revealed a golf ball-sized tumor. “It just kind of threw our whole world into a tailspin,” Shannon recalled.

Sheldon was quickly scheduled for a nine-hour surgery and, luckily, the mass was fully removed and turned out to be benign. Unfortunately, Sheldon suffered a serious postoperative complication. “All of the swelling from the brain surgery crushed some of his facial nerves and he ended up with severe paralysis,” the news anchor revealed. Recovery was slow and not guaranteed, pushing Sheldon into a depression.

Then, just a month before their nuptials, Shannon noticed her husband-to-be had a small twitch in the corner of his mouth. That, in turn, would lead to recovery. “Thank God he’s good,” she enthused. “No more return of that.”

Doctors didn’t take her extreme eye pain seriously

Years after her husband’s recovery, Shannon Bream would experience her own health diagnosis. In 2010, the then-39-year-old would first experienced a shooting pain in her eye that woke her up at night. “It felt as if someone was slashing my eyeball with a hot poker,” she wrote in a 2018 piece for Women’s Health. While it went away, it soon happened again, leading the on-air personality to visit her optometrist. She was told she had dry eyes, but the pain began occurring more frequently, paired with migraines and double vision.

Bream eventually saw a specialist, but they refused to take her symptoms seriously. “I laid out my daily struggle […] only to have him brush aside my concerns and diagnose me as ’emotional,’” she revealed. Further speaking about that encounter, she told People, “My doctor was questioning my sanity – that was really hurtful.”

Ultimately, it would take two years to receive a concrete diagnosis from a different specialist. After meeting ophthalmologist Thomas Clinch, M.D., Bream learned she had, as she wrote, “a genetic condition that causes my corneas to tear all the time.” While there is no cure, she and her doctor set about finding ways to ease her pain, including surgery in 2017. While recovery was painful, it worked. “Instead of just surviving life and hoping to make it through one more day, I live my life with joy now, and I’m incredibly grateful,” she shared.

While searching for an explanation and cure for her chronic eye pain, Shannon Bream was faced with disbelieving healthcare professionals and mounting discomfort. As she would later tell Women’s Health, she was in her early 40s, and the thought of never being able to manage her mystery illness sent her into a spiral. “I couldn’t imagine living another 40 years in endless pain and debilitating fatigue,” she admitted. “Sometimes, I couldn’t see my way through the next 40 seconds.”

Turning to online forums, she found a community of people dealing with the same unexplainable symptoms, some of whom wrote candidly about experiencing suicidal thoughts. “That didn’t seem crazy or unreasonable to me at all,” she confessed. “I felt the walls closing in around me,” she admitted during the 2021 convocation ceremony at her alma mater, Liberty University. “I was just in a shell of depression.”

It wasn’t until Bream told her husband the truth about her darkest thoughts that things began to turn around. He vowed to help her find the right specialist, and soon enough, she met the ophthalmologist who would ultimately help her reach a place where she felt 95 percent better.

    Her father died suddenly

Shannon Bream experienced a devastating loss in 2013 when her father, former U.S. Marine Ed DePuy, died suddenly. As she would later share in a 2019 Facebook post, the surprise loss was made all the more painful because “I never got to say goodbye.” However, she did speak to him on the phone just two days earlier and it’s an interaction she would cherish forever. “He told me he was proud of me,” she recalled. That same year, Bream also tweeted about how the pain never fully went away. “It was crushing to not get to say goodbye, and there are days I still ache to call him up,” she confessed. She told followers she initially worried she would forget the sound of her dad’s voice. Luckily, that didn’t happen. “I haven’t, and I remember all the important things he taught me,” she mused.

Since then, she’s continued to think of him regularly while on the job. As she revealed during Fox News’ 25th anniversary celebration in 2021, it was actually DePuy who encouraged her to work for Fox News because it was the network he related to most. “He was so excited when I got my job,” she recalled, noting she still wants talk to him about stories she’s working on. While she’s unable to do that, he’s never far from her mind. “There’s a part of me that feels like he’s looking down [on me because of] his special connection with Fox,” she enthused.

She herself was diagnosed with cancer

Just a few years after she was finally able to find treatment for her chronic eye pain, Shannon Bream received another worrying health diagnosis in 2015. Following a routine mammogram, the Fox News host was sent for a follow-up ultrasound, then a needle biopsy, as her doctor spotted an abnormality.

As she shared on Facebook a year later, waiting for the results was nerve-wracking, and news came several days later while she was at work. “I needed surgery to get the offending tissue out, and there was no delaying,” she recalled. While she initially considered putting off surgery because of her busy schedule, her husband convinced her that her health was more important. She agreed but told almost no one about it and, just four days later, was on the air again. “That kind of work focus was good for me, the only thing that took my mind off the pathology report I was waiting for,” she explained. However, this time around, the news was good. “They got all the tissue they were after, and it was caught very early,” she shared, noting she had made a full recovery but would require regular testing due to a genetic predisposition.

Shannon Bream was publicly insulted by Donald Trump

Shannon Bream has been working at Fox News since 2007, and despite being loyal to the conservative network, she has no qualms about pushing back at questionable claims made by her Republican guests. One such notable incident occurred in May 2024 when Bream interviewed Donald Trump’s lawyer and spokesperson Alina Habba, just as jurors were deliberating over the former president’s hush money trial. Habba (whose relationship with Trump keeps getting weirder) claimed that Joe Biden had somehow orchestrated the whole trial and slammed, “This is exactly a Biden show because he’s got to distract the American people.” Well, that sort of outlandish declaration didn’t sit well with Bream who repeatedly pushed back at Habba, noting how her logic was flawed. “It’s a state trial – the feds passed on these election charges,” Bream calmly explained.

However, that didn’t stop Habba from repeating her statement and, soon enough, Trump himself was on Truth Social, calling Bream’s judgment into question. “I never knew Shannon Bream was so ‘naïve’,” he wrote. “Not only is [Biden] involved, he is virtually leading it, and all of the other Trials as well.”

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace avoided acknowledging the growing backlash she is facing for comments she made about the 13-year-old cancer survivor who was featured in President Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress.

Wallace was slammed for remarks in MSNBC’s coverage of Trump’s address inexplicably linking the young boy to Jan. 6 and the suicide of Capitol Police officers.

On Wednesday’s installment of “Deadline: White House,” Wallace refrained from addressing the uproar. In fact, there was minimal coverage of Trump’s address during her two-hour program yubi.

    Nicolle Wallace on Today set

One of the most memorable moments from Trump’s address was when he put a spotlight on teenager DJ Daniel, an aspiring police officer who was told by doctors six years ago he had five months to live when he was first diagnosed with brain cancer.

“Tonight, DJ, we’re going to do you the biggest honor of them all,” Trump said. “I am asking our new Secret Service Director, Sean Curran, to officially make you an agent of the United States.”

The moment sparked a standing ovation from Republicans in the room while Democratic lawmakers remained seated.

    Cancer survivor DJ Daniel

Wallace shared a grim response to her MSNBC colleagues.

“But I think this was a lesson in finding one thing that you let yourself feel,” Wallace said. “And I let myself feel joy about DJ, and I hope he’s alive for another, you know, 95 years, and I hope he lives the life he wants to live. He wants to be a cop. He knows what he wants to do, and maybe when you have childhood cancer, that crystallizes for you.”

“I hope he has a long life as a law enforcement officer,” she continued. “But I hope he never has to defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters, and if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide, and I hope he isn’t one who has to testify against the people who carried out acts of seditious conspiracy and then lived to see Donald Trump pardon those people.”

Rachel Maddow and Nicolle Wallace on MSNBC

The comments ignited sharp condemnation across social media, even making their way to the White House.

“Last night, MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace disgustingly looped in a 13-year-old boy with brain cancer into an attack on the president over Jan. 6,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said during Wednesday’s press briefing.

“It’s sad and frankly pathetic that Democrats and liberals in the legacy media continue to allow their hatred for the president to override their love for our country,” Leavitt later added.

Wallace was not the only network figure to chastise Trump for inviting Daniel to the chamber.

“For the record, and this is disgusting, the president made a spectacle out of praising a young man who thus far survived pediatric cancer, as if the president had something to do with that,” MSNBC host Rachel Maddow said Tuesday night.

“This was in the midst of him praising [the Department of Government Efficiency],” Maddow continued. “The DOGE cuts, among other things, have cut off funding for ongoing research into pediatric cancer.”

MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Longtime Fox News host Neil Cavuto is leaving the network after 28 years — ending his run as one of the few remaining anchors on that cable channel willing to criticize President-elect Donald Trump openly.

After rumors about Cavuto’s exit began to surface in the early hours of Dec. 19, yubi a Fox News spokesperson confirmed that the 66-year-old “Your World” host, who is based in New Jersey, is leaving the network immediately after making his final appearance on the Dec. 19 episode of the show.

    Most Read from MarketWatch

“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,” the statement read. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”

According to the New York Post, Cavuto — whose contract with Fox News was due to expire at the end of December — declined a “generous” offer to renew the deal.

Cavuto has been a consistent presence on Fox News since it launched in 1996, with “Your World” as one of its first programs. He hosts several other shows for Fox News and its sister channel, Fox Business, including “Cavuto Live” and “Cavuto: Coast to Coast.”

In recent years, Cavuto made a name for himself as one of the network’s only on-air personalities to call out Trump, fact-checking a number of statements during Trump’s first presidency and criticizing policies he did not agree with.

In return, Trump — who has made no secret that Fox News is his preferred viewing option and that he spends a lot of time watching it — has frequently taken aim at Cavuto, going as far as to brand him “foolish” and “stupid” in 2020 after the anchor slammed the then-president’s alleged use of hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19.

The Margin (May 2020): After Trump says he’s taking hydroxychloroquine, many sound alarm over the malaria drug’s documented risks

During his latest campaign, Trump issued a withering takedown of Cavuto, after the TV host reported that the Republican former president had lost his only debate with the Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Neil Cavuto, Fox’s Lowest Rated Anchor, is one of the WORST on Television. I actually prefer the losers at CNN and MSDNC!” Trump wrote in a post on his social-media site Truth Social DJT.

It is not yet known what Cavuto plans to do next — or whether he will retire from his full-time career on-air and enjoy some R&R at one of his expansive properties.

Records show that Cavuto and his wife, Mary, own several homes in the U.S., including a 9,403-square-foot property in Mendham, N.J., which he purchased for $6.3 million in 2007.

Located in a very upscale neighborhood, the grand home sits at the end of a long drive and is surrounded by trees to afford its owners maximum privacy. A large swimming pool sits in the back of the home.

The duo also own a penthouse in Singer Island, Fla., which they purchased for $7.3 million in 2021, according to property records.

Described in its original listing as a “transcendent masterpiece,” the couple’s Florida unit is on the 19th floor of an upscale condominium and boasts five bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms.

The 7,977-square-foot home boasts incredible ocean views from its sky-high perch, while its interior offers a very opulent and lavish decor.

“Meticulously designed and standing alone as a prized and vivid jewel on coveted Ocean Drive, each distinct room in this resplendent, light-filled refuge in the sky lifts the spirits to beautiful new heights,” the listing continued.

Clearly designed with entertaining in mind, the penthouse features two kitchens, a wet bar and a wraparound terrace.

Cavuto and his wife have been using their New Jersey property as their primary residence for many years, allowing for the on-air personality to commute quickly into New York City to host his shows.

However, in the wake of his Fox News exit, the duo might opt to spend much more time in the Sunshine State, fleeing the bitter winter weather in favor of some beach time.

Together, the couple share three children: biological daughter Tara, 22, and adopted sons Bradley and Jeremy.

Gelman responded: “Oh, you mean the old saying that it’s never as good as you think, or as bad as you think?”

While the studio audience laughed at the bland words of encouragement, Ryan asked his co-host if he could ever imagine saying anything like that.

“No,” The Hello singer shot back. “No, that’s not going to be my thing.”

    SO SORRY

Apparently, Lionel’s “thing” is having to apologize for his co-hosts’ behavior – especially after the two did a segment to celebrate the coming of spring.

The ‘Spring has Sprung Week’ segment included health and features director at Better Homes & Gardens Amy Brightfield, who walked Ryan and Lionel through some gardening tips.

Ryan said he looked forward to being “soil mates” with Lionel but that attitude quickly changed when they really got their hands dirty and did some on-air gardening.

Amy showed the guys how to water a plant, once you first put it into the soil, to ensure that it has a smooth growing process.

She told them to “give it a good soaking around the roots.”

The plant enthusiast noted that, when you first plant something, “You’re going to want to water it every day to make sure that the roots take hold.”

    BREAKING THE RULES

She went on to explain that, as the plant grows you can start to water it “every other day,” but as she shared this tip with Ryan and Lionel, she noticed something troubling.

“Don’t water the leaves,” she told Ryan quickly.

“You want to water the root.”

Ryan joked saying: “Lionel told me to water the leaves.”

He added: “He said in rehearsal last night, we were supposed to water the leaves.”

Amy repeated her warning with Lionel saying, in unison: “Don’t water the leaves.”

Then Lionel laughed and apologized to Amy: “I can’t take him anywhere, I’m so sorry.”

Seacrest replaced longtime host Pat Sajak in September 2024 for the syndicated version of the show, though Sajak remains as the host for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. While Seacrest’s contract lasts for several years, there are a few reasons why he might leave sooner than later.

Is Ryan Seacrest leaving Wheel of Fortune host already?

Ryan Seacrest is not yet leaving as the Wheel of Fortune host, but rumors are swirling that bosses are not pleased with his performance.

The Nielsen ratings for Wheel of Fortune dipped below Jeopardy in late January 2025, yubi per The Sun, with Jeopardy receiving 8.4 million viewers and Wheel of Fortune getting 8.1 million. While Seacrest started off with high ratings on the show, this dip has made bosses and fans more fully appreciate Pat Sajak as the show’s host.

An insider with Closer said, “You’re starting to see what a secret weapon Pat Sajak’s understated sense of humor was for that show.” The source also criticizes Ryan for not being fast “when it comes to jokes,” which is something that “came naturally to Pat,” and recommends that Ryan “hire joke writers that can calibrate his on-air persona a little closr to Pat’s.”

What's the Latest on Ryan Seacrest Leaving Wheel of Fortune in 2025?

Another report says that Pat Sajak is willing and ready to return as the main Wheel of Fortune host after receiving a lot of support for his appearance on the Celebrity version of the show. A special Christmas episode aired for Celebrity Wheel of Fortune in December 2024, but the rest of the season, though it has already been taped, has not aired yet. While Seacrest is locked into a two-year deal, Sajak is “waiting in the wings to take over.”

The showrunners have previously shared that they were frustrated with Seacrest’s time being split too much, with him hosting American Idol, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, and On Air with Ryan Seacrest.

Meanwhile, Vanna White’s contract also ends in 2026, and so she has no plans of leaving the show early either.

Losing your cool on national TV isn’t exactly rare — but on Wheel of Fortune? That’s a new one.

On the Monday, March 3 episode, contestant P.J. Wilder racked up an impressive $74,860 in cash and prizes. His reaction? Just as big.

“How is this happening? Please pinch me! Pinch me!” Wilder shouted, turning to host Ryan Seacrest for confirmation that he wasn’t dreaming.

The 50-year-old TV presenter obliged, giving him a small pinch on the shoulder.

“Hey!” Wilder yelped, as Seacrest reassured him, “This is all real.”

Then came the final surprise — the radio personality revealed Wilder had just won a Mini Cooper S Signature Convertible worth $41,200.

“No way! Get out of here!” Wilder yelled at Seacrest before jumping into the driver’s seat, honking the horn, and high-fiving his wife, Katie, who joined him on stage.

Fans were all in on the excitement.

“Love his energy!” one person commented after a clip of the moment hit YouTube.

“You’re a hell of a character, PJ, and I’m glad you’re walking away with an awesome car. Congratulations!” another wrote.

“The funniest contestant on the show,” a third chimed in.

But not everyone was on board with Wilder’s over-the-top enthusiasm.

“Anyone else think this guy PJ is the most annoying contestant ever?” one viewer asked on Reddit.

“Wow he was unbearable to watch especially when he kept cutting Ryan off. Notice how his wife just stood there on the side? So awkward,” another added.

Seacrest officially took over hosting duties from Pat Sajak on September 9, 2024, ushering in the show’s 42nd season.

“I love giving away the money,” the American Idol host told Fox News in December. “I get so excited when people win the money, and they win a lot of money. I’m hoping to give away a million dollars in 2025.”
